A](http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/bt/aj/int/35632-eon-defiance-a-young-justice)ngry Joe talks to the Producers for the show and a story editor for the game.
More or less, Weismen stated he wants each season to be a span of 6 months and the show to be about growing up. (Insert obvious time skip joke here.) The first season was sidekicks to mentors and the second to be seniors to freshmen on the team.
The game will take place sometime within the 5 year gap, and actually matters to the overall story in the same way the comics due.
-
Finally caught up on this… I'll admit, I was a little thrown off by the timeskip thing, but well it turned out rather nicely. I'll say they mostly won me over with the Flash episode though. The Flashes can do no wrong, and I don't have the logo tattooed without reason.
Reading that they wanted the show to be about growing up, I feel a bit more satisfied now, although I still think they should've and could've done it better than they did. Like someone said on a past page, the JL to JLU transition was great. This one... not so much. It just seemed so arbitrary. I'd rather all the plotlines had been wrapped up/the light taken care of, AND then we start the invasion story line.
But, as it is, there are very few superhero shows out there. I'll keep tuning in for my daily dosage of DC awesomeness, and I hope they get renewed for a third season. Though... I do wonder if they'd do another timeskip, and how exactly it would end up. Perhaps a new imagining of DC's future? Maybe Nightwing breaking away from Bat's to form the Outsiders? Who knows....

Just noticed something else with the new teaser:

Big fan of DC and it's animation department and just had the time to watch this.
So, trying this series out, but besides its first two episodes it doesn't live up to its premise or more so what I have expected and I'm more drawn back. (Up to Episode 11 I could care less for Miss Martian and Superboy. They're super annoying and the romance is shallow at best, urgh)Does it get any better? It's mostly mediocre and I'm trying really hard to care about the core cast (Aqualad is the only one I really, really like…I don't really care for anybody else :( )
-
I would say "yes" but if you've gotten that far into the story, I can't really think of a "wait til this point before you decide" moment that'll change your mind.
-

Lmao I had the same problems with Miss Martian and Superboy. (And Aqualad is my favorite.) I watched up to episode 10 and still couldn't really get into it so I dropped it. :(

So Jason Marsden was on the latest episode of Rob Paulsen's podcast and he mentioned that he thinks Season Two is it for the show. It was kind of unclear but he stated that the production stopped halfway through the season, but they did the other half and he stated "And I think that's gonna be all for Young Justice".
Whether that means that they just haven't started anything for a third season yet that he's aware of, or the show's done is unclear.
-
Given the typical shelf life for American cartoons I wouldn't be surprised. I just hope they can get all their ducks in a row unlike Avenger's EMH.

That would really suck if he ends up being correct. I thoroughly enjoy Young Justice and it is like one of two shows on Cartoon Network that I actually like. Hopefully they can deliver a satisfactory conclusion to the series with the second season.

Hrm. Greg Weisman 2 season curse again?
-
@RobbyBevard:
Hrm. Greg Weisman 2 season curse again?
Sigh. Well, at least we'll have gotten 46 episodes. That's more than Spectacular Spider-man was allowed.
-
@RobbyBevard:

With most CN shows only lasting around 2 seasons nowadays it's hard to tell.
-
All caught up now, so I hope this show can keep going for a while longer. If not, then at least it's been one hell of a ride…
-
I've figured that Young Justice was living on borrowed time the minute Teen Titans Go! was announced; Cartoon Network hates having the same characters on more than one show and also hates season long storylines.
-
I was wondering if that might have had something to do with it. Couldn't "The Batman" not use Robin for the first few seasons because TT was still running?
It's a shame. I'd much rather Young Justice over a Teen Titans only focused on comedy with little-to-no continuity. Don't get me wrong, the comedy episodes of TT were the best, but it worked in balance.
We finally get a show with the maturity of the DCAU and it's possibly getting canned.

Does any one know how well the toys are selling?
ARE there any toys?
That's a major factor in the longevity of an animated series. (And why Ben 10 is still running.)
-
I'm pretty sure toys were mentioned (and linked) a few pages back. As for how they're selling, who knows.
Also, a minor gripe, but I preferred Will Friedle's take on Jaime, since he didn't drop random "ese's" and "hermano's" at the end of his sentences (as far as I recall). That's like having Jon Stewart dropping "dawg," the N word or talking in shizzle speak. And to whoever asked, no, Mexican-Americans don't punctuate our sentences with random Spanish—at least, I don't. Not that I'm offended by Jaime's speech pattern, but it just seems lame that they couldn't think of a better way to tell the audience "hey, this character's Mexican" without resorting to stereotypical slang…

I seem to remember there being at least a Kid Flash toy as on the side of the box were Season 2 designs for Miss Martian, Robin and Aqualad.
Not sure if there were many more.
-
There were toys. We know because they spoiled the fact that Barbra was joining the team and Aqualad was joining up with his pops.
-
@RobbyBevard:

Ben 10 has the primary advantage of being wholly owned by Cartoon Network so they don't have to pay a licensing fee to a sister company and split merchandising sales, which was really why they killed Teen Titans when they did.
At a guess, I'd say that whatever Young Justice merchandise exists falls well short of the sales of Teen Titans merchandise and that's why they're throwing it under the bus.
Also, a minor gripe, but I preferred Will Friedle's take on Jaime, since he didn't drop random "ese's" and "hermano's" at the end of his sentences (as far as I recall).
But how do you know a character is Hispanic if they don't say stuff like that, ese?
And, yeah, TBatB definitely had a lot better handle on the character than Young Justice does.

Apparently the show (or comic) creators figured that being named Jaime and living in El Paso, Texas wasn't obvious enough.
Also, I wonder why he kept quiet about the Scarab for so long. I mean, he could've saved himself a lot of awkward looks by just telling his teammates, "Oh, yeah, this thing that gives me my powers also communicates with me. I'm not crazy, really."
P.S.S. Beast Boy's pretty cool (though I prefer Greg Cipes' take on the character)…

Is Jaime supposed to be a hispanic name? None of that woulda been a sign for me that he was of Mexican descent lol.
I'm also not sure how he could join up and none of the teens knew about his power source. Aren't they supposed to work in teams and stuff? Wouldn't knowing what a team's strength and weaknesses be a must?
-
Not sure about the name's origins, but the way it's pronounced (Hai-meh) is definitely Hispanic. I might be biased, though, since there are two Jaimes in my family.
I guess the thing with Jaime has to do with the team not knowing their (except the original seven) secret identities, which extends to the source of their powers in some cases? Who knows, but it's a pretty glaring oversight, in my opinion…

Hmm. I suppose. The only Jamie's I've known were girls and it was a Jay-me pronunciation.
It is a weird oversight, but I guess that's part of the problem with having characters suddenly appear instead of getting to see them join and go through the motions.
-

When its pronounced Hai-me, its spanish. When its Jay-me, not so much. And yes, it IS a boy's name.
It's a culture thing.
I've known girls named Robbie, its legit. (Tho the difference there is the ie instead of y spelling.)

I know that The BB is Spanish but not knowing many Hispanic's every time i read Jaime I read it as Jay-me which throws me off cuz I think they are talking about someone else, not Hai-me.
-
Are they saying Hai-me in the show? It's been a couple of months and I don't recall.

I'm pretty sure some people called him Hai-May(like Longshadow and his mother) and some people called him Jay-Me. Though I could be remembering incorrectly.
-
Oh, the countries were the H isn't mute.
Jaime is a male name, pronunced as you say "Hai me"
It's rare here, but is there. In other latin american countries is more common.

Young Justice Toyline has been cancelled.

It kinda sucked anyway.

Well, that pretty much confirms it for the show too then, doesn't it.
-

Pretty sure everyone called him Hai-me on the show but I am on a bunch of tv forums and almost every week I would be sitting there trying to figure out which character was Jaime. Smh.
-
Hmm. I suppose. The only Jamie's I've known were girls and it was a Jay-me pronunciation.
There's the difference right there. JaIME and JaMIE are two different names. Jamie would be pronounced like Jay-me, whereas Jaime is correctly pronounced Hai-meh.
-
New episodes are coming at the end of the month.
-
I'll be brutally honest here…the break and the knowledge that this is probably going to be the last season really killed off any anticipation I have for the series. Stuff like gravity falls is a much better show to invest my time in and I feel it's going to take alot for it to be interesting again.
-
I finished watching Justice League/Unlimited a while back, is it worth me watching this?
-
Good question. I stopped watching after that whole dream sequence episode in Season 1. It left a really bad taste in my mouth as I thought the show would have moved into this mellow angsty direction. I want to resume it eventually, but it really felt like the show lost its hook.
-
I finished watching Justice League/Unlimited a while back, is it worth me watching this?
Oh, Young Justice is far better than justice league. Imagine Justice League with a new cast, tons of character development, tight continuity between episodes moving an overarching plot forward, better animation and soundtrack, deep understanding of the source material, top notch writing that is both mature and smart, and sans that terribly depressing tone that permeated Unlimited. If there's one superhero show to watch, it's this one.

I assume you mean that in a positive light, correct?
-
-
@Badass:
You assume incorrectly.
The least you could do is elaborate then.
-
Basically after the series finally gets a status quo it jumps into 5 year time skip. Which it then spends the next set of episodes explaining the changes, it was super jarring and was a turn off for a lot of people. A lot of main-stays were bumped down to reoccurring (not even regulars) and are replaced with a younger batch of characters. There's some development a lot of people here weren't happy.
Honestly, its shaping up to being a good season by the way. But I'm now biased because Static Shock's in it.
-
The least you could do is elaborate then.
Well, building upon what Silver R. Bolt said, a lot of potential was lost upon the unnecessary transition. For example, Rocket, a character whom was a member of the team for the last 2 episodes of season one got literally no Character development. Most people thought it'd be okay, because most people assumed the characters would be elaborated upon further in the second season. Instead, we get the jarring time skip. There was so much potential for the stories of the 8 members in the team at the end of Season 1, but instead it seemed as if the show took the easy way out. Now, the show is getting interesting and there's a great deal of surprises, but guess what? Those surprises are only surprising because there's that five year lapse. If we had seen what happened during those five years naturally, these surprises wouldn't be as shocking. In this particular case, a time skip was unnatural, lazy, and unnecessary. Especially after the series had finally found its rhythm.
-
Ah, I thought the time-skip would be the major point of issue. That said, I love how the timeskip has changed the world so much. It's one of the only skips I've seen that believably portrays a world where 5 years have passed, rather than a mere method to move to the next major conflict. Indeed, it did have it's downsides, but it opens up tons of new possibilities. On a whole I think it was a good move.
