I can't believe I didn't mention Grim Fandango. That is one of the best PC games. So much fun, and the part where you get to make up a poem is gold. Clambake! The phone is for me… the phone is for you. Ashes to ashes dust to dust, can you hear me while you're sleeping?
The phone line is my favourite. Grim Fandango is an oldie but a goodie.

God, they don't make the games as they used to. Old school games were better than these new ones. I mean, back then, games weren't made by a bunch of people who were just programers, no, those people were enthusiasts, they worked for themselves, gaming industry wasn't big like now, people would have their own small studios and they'd make games for their own satisfaction. Now it's all just about whether "Need for Speed 27" or "Tomb Raider 45" will make money during the Christmas shop fever. Back then, guys like John Carmack, Peter Molyneux, Tim Schaffer, Lord British, Levelord and John Romero were pioneers, they were building a new industry. Now individuality is mostly gone, there's only EA, Eidos, Activision and Ubisoft. Sure, these new games are fun, and they are eye-candy, but they are all mostly based on the same "copy-paste" concept. You've played one, then you've played them all. You can't compare them to games like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Grim Fandango, Half-Life, Doom, Duke Nukem, Day of the Tentacle, Ultima, Diablo, Command and Conquer, Monkey Island, Baldur's Gate… Damn, I still have the first Heroes from 1995. installed on my computer, and I play them from time to time. And who can make a character like Guybrush Threepwood these days? No one. And that's a huge minus.
