anyways I just watched the first ep. and it was pretty good though it could've gone with a little more action, I mean jeebus can't we get the courtesy of seeing a guy getting his ass brutally kicked?

IIRC the people who did Baccano! did this series too right? I really need to get around to watching it...which is something I've been saying for over a year now =_= (BTW who are the better fansubbers for this series?)
Oh yeah, the fansub I watched was done by a grop called 'gg' OR SO the file I got states. Their translation's fine but why don't they write the name the characters are saying?

It's by Baccano!'s dude but it's sort of like comparing Medaka Box to Bakemonogatari, as I've heard. Almost a joke series in comparison, and not to be taken seriously.
If people start to explode with delight down the road I might consider picking this up. But, I've still got to finish Railgun…

I don't know. I haven't seen it. I did fully watch Index and determined that Misaka Mikoto is a better heroine, and supposedly Railgun is all about her.

I'm currently watching this. The series so far has given me Persona vibes, with the urban fantasy and all.
My favorite character's the violent, vending machine throwing guy, 'cause, well, he's violent and throws vending machines.

Been downloading this series as the episodes come out.
Probably the only series from last season that looked any good.
I'm loving it so far. Shizuo the Vending Machine Thrower has been my favourite character so far, Izaya has been pretty cool too.

its got a bit of a baccano feel
but more modern and casual
the whole series focuses ALOT more on plot development
and everything happens IN sequence
its what convinced me to watch baccano
or as i like to say, Bacon-OH -
i would still love to recommend it
its on par with baccano
except for the lack of a 1930s motif

Indeed. Shizuo and Celty are my favorites so far, though all the characters are pretty awesome. I liked Izaya's entrance in episode 10 too

Since no one else has said anything yet… I loved episode 11 and can't wait to see 12 now. Ryugamine went way up in awesomeness this episode imo. Surprised there aren't more people watching this. I think it's really good.

I watched episode 12, and it looks like this story arc has come to a close. I'm pretty glad that this isn't a twelve-episode anime, since it's full of great, entertaining characters and has such a stylish presentation. I guess now they'll be focusing on the Slasher plotthread, though Izaya's monologue at the end was kinda ominous with all the ominous mythological terms he was tossing around.
And I couldn't help but laugh at the end when Mikado finally got sick of Kida flirting with Anri and kicked him like that.

Late to saying anything on the new episode, but…
I second this being-glad-ness and the reason why. I'm interested to see what the next story arc will be since Celty's part seems to be resolved. Meh, as long as we get to see more of Shizuo chucking ridiculously large objects at Izaya -
New opening. I like it well enough (aside from the rather amateurish-looking typesetting), but it's not quite as stylish in its execution as the first one was, though the match cut from Kasuka to Simon was genius.

The ending, combined with the chatroom segment, was creepy as all get-out, and the circumstances lead me to believe that that teacher is going to get whacked at some point.

My favorite character, by far, is Shizuo. Must love the crazy psycho who throws vending machines at people (and he kinda reminds me England from Hetalia)
His brother also reminds me of Norway, also from Hetalia -w-

The new opening was ok. As for episodes 13 and 14, end of 13 was creepy. The cops might be interesting. Needs more Shizuo and Simon. I'm enjoying the antics of Shinra, Shingen, and Celty interaction (they got up there with Shizuo and Simon on my favorites; 5 favorites isn't too many is it? XD). Poor Shinra with the shower scene >.< That entire segment of the episode was a nice little comedic break from the slasher business.

…kinda late with this. I can't remember the last anime I actually sat down and watched, but this show has me addicted. At first it was just because I've spent a lot of time in Ikebukuro, but I'm digging all the characters and the atmosphere is killer. Good stuff!

I watched Durarara before Baccano and found it very entertaining. However, recently I just watched 13 episodes of Baccano and…. I LOVE IT.
But since this is a drrr thread....
I thought Celty was great- a powerful female character that can be cool and moe at the same time without being a sue.
I'm pretty sure everyone loves Shizzy-chan but I'll just throw that out there too.
Oh....my.....gollygosh. The best part of this series for me is the wagon gang: Erika, Walker, Dotachin, Togusa. They're great.
Really love Simon. Especially his voice actor. It's just perfect.
Can't say I'm a big fan of Anri; find her a little boring and she seems like a character you'd find in a fanfiction: huge boobs, multiple characters like her, kind of hax powers....

A question though… has the manga had any new chapters? The last time I check there were 12 chapters and it seems like releases are sporadic, and I have no way of knowing if a new chapter comes out because I don't know where to look. and what about the light novels?
I can't decide who's my favorite: Shizu-chan or Izaya. On the one hand: angry guy who throws things and on the other, guy who will randomly make girls cry all while wearing a pimpin' jacket. :unsure:

I always hate it when there's this really awesome series, but the chapters are never released on a predictable basis. I've been waiting forever for a sign that the mangaka for Evangelion is actually still alive. The dude must spend an entire year writing one chapter or I'm not looking in the right places because I'm insane. Drives me crazy..

After finding out that the guys who handled this show were the same guys who did Baccano! (which I absolutely loved, easily one of my all-time favorite anime series), I immediately searched for the episodes. Downloading as of the moment, and will watch this as soon as I wrap up all these final school projects and stuff.

Quick clarifying question: The light novels came first and then the anime correct? I've heard that the manga is a bit different and that the anime is actually closer to canon.
btw, did the mangaka draw any other series? Because I was at the library today and I saw this manga which had art style reminiscent of DRRR. I even mistook one of the main characters for mikado. I forgot what it was called though. :P

Not sure with the manga since I don't really follow it, but yes, the anime is fairly close to the LNs with few added scene, like ep 12.5 and ep 25.

The mangaka, Akiyo Satorigi doesn't have any other works beside DRRR!! but the novel illustrator Suzuhito Yasuda is the author of Yozakura Quartet (and few other novel illustrator).

according to wiki (yeah i use wikipedia and trust it) he made both the novels and the manga , also things liek baccano and vamp

It's coming to Adult Swim starting this Saturday, replacing the recently finished and had entered re-runs Kekkashi (which I didn't like and didn't manage to stick with). I was aware of the anime in passing, but know next to nothing about it except that one of the characters is a headless chick in a leather jumpsuit. Considering I don't download anime (and of course don't buy it) anymore (and haven't for years) AS is pretty much the only time I watch any anime, so hopefully this is good?

It's good. The characters are all really good. I really don't know what else to say that doesn't sound like generic praise because it was really great, but I can't think of one particular element that was better or worse than the rest besides the cast of characters being really awesome.

Considering that, to my knowledge, this show was one of, if not the, most successful shows Brain's Base has produced, and there's plenty more material to adapt, I don't see why a petition should be necessary for a second season.
I doubt there will be more Baccano, though. It tanked pretty hard in Japan from what I remember.
