I have yet to see any gameplay footage except for the assassination mechanic that was in someone's sig actually. That did look pretty cool, though.

The graphics in this game are fine. Not omglookatdemgraphics but they look a LOT better than Halo 3 and OST did. Especially the characters. Motion-capture probably helped with that, though.

It's not the quality of the graphics though it's just the art style itself. Too round and shiny for my tastes.

I don't know, I've always liked Halo's style, especially Reach's.
It's really polished, though. There's a map called Reflection and it looks stunning. The artstyle is supposedly grittier though (in the campaign, atleast)

Impressions from a long-time Halo hater/
Since I posted this on another board, thought I would just copy here.
This is EASILY the best Halo game Bungie have ever created. Everything that turned me off about the previous games has been improved ten fold; it's gone from 'yeh Halo is a good fun game but it's not the be all and end all many make out' to 'holy crap this game is epic.'
The game is grittier than the other titles and takes on a more mature, darker tone; something that Ensemble explored with the cutscenes in Halo Wars but was never really represented in the actual Halo titles. The game just feels like it was aimed at a more mature audience. The AI is nothing less than extraordinary and never stops trying to flank or out maneuver you, the guns don't have ridiculous levels of auto aim and there's a substantially weighted feel to shooting. Guns have significantly increased recoil that affects accuracy at higher burst rates, the over powered melee attacks feel more balanced and vehicular control and physics feel more weighted, precise and purposeful.
The new weapons are fantastic and with the increased weight and feel make combat so much more visceral and enjoyable. Visually it's a substantial improvement over it's predecessors. It's still not the best looking game going but at least humans actually look like humans, the environments are staggeringly large and the particle and lighting effects during firefights are draw dropping. I still feel games like Alan Wake, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 are superior visually but Halo Reach is no slouch, not by a long margin.
The game just smashes every previous Halo title in every department. I haven't gotten into a Halo game like this before very few shooters have had such an immediate wow factor with me. Thoroughly sold.
Well done Bungie. Halo Reach is truly one of this gens masterpieces. I am genuinely surprised at my own response to this game, Halo has always been fun but this one is on a totally different level to the rest of the franchise.

Been playing nonstop for about an hour. This game is amazing. They improved EVERYTHING. The A.I is probably the smartest out of all the games. The story is ok..probably gets better later on. So far though this is the best halo i've played so far.

I'll probably pick up a copy today for review/selling purposes.
Has a Game Rankings score of 92%. Although once you take away the 100% scores it got from X-Box Magazines it's about 90% (Hey. The same was said to be done for Mario so.)
Edit at 10:30 : Played about 2 hours thus far. It's OK. Compared to most other FPS games it is good. (not even gonna attempt to compare it to other genres cus that's just stupid.) Main gripe is the game is just too easy. Even on Legendary mode you'll rarely struggle through it. At least thus far.
Anyways. Gonna play for a few more hours for the magazine and then I'll come back with some more.
Edit Edit: Still piss easy. Mutliplayer is OK. Already there are too many annoying 10 year olds playing this (on a School day too. Eeesh.) but personally it's nothing amazing. I suppose if you love FPS or Halo games you'll adore it. To me I just hate the fact that the single player just feels like a taster compared to the Multiplayer.

I'm comparing it to other games. Mots of which are 15+ hours. I don't play enough FPS to compare it with them. (The last one I played wholly was Bioshock 2. And that was slightly longer and I complained about the same thing. Compare this to the likes of Metroid Prime and Half-Life and yeah.) This just felt thrown on.
I haven't had a proper go at Multiplayer yet. There were too many underaged kids on already yesterday to make it annoying. The two or three maps I did play were good and there was enough varied weapons. Certainly above Bioshock's Multiplayer which just felt tagged on. I'm not sure how it fares against COD etc tho.
Overall I think it's an good game hampered by a poor and short single player campaign.

I'm on Heroic and I'm on the 7th mission barely, been playing since 5: 30. That's not that short. And it's certainly one of the better campaigns in the Halo franchise. It's not a Half-life/Metroid Prime-like campaign, obviously, but it's still good.
Have you beaten it yet? You mentioned it wasn't very challenging on Legendary, you must be some FPS God because I'm pissed at the smart-ass Elites dodging and using tactics to fuck me over in the campaign/firefight on Heroic.

I don't really know the usual length of campaigns. I just didn't find it challenging compared to some of the others. Just trial and error really.
My brother finished it on easy last night and it was around 5 hour mark.

Seriously however. This is a Manga site, most people probably do play Japanese games rather than Halo (not saying western since there is a lot of people playing Uncharted, Fallout, Red Dead etc.)

I gotta say, the campaign solo on Legendary is fucking annoying as all hell. Grunts and Jackals are not such a problem, Skirmishers are ok, but the Elites and Hunters are just HOLY SHIT DIE ALREADY. I end up wasting all my ammo and using unusual combinations of weapons like plasma pistol and assault rifle etc. just to kill one. It truly is kicking my ass hard, but that's fine, I like a little challenge
And yes, the campaign wasn't that impressive, still one of the best to grace the Halo name, but the MP is insanely addictive and fun. It's a bit broken now in terms of playlists, but it'll be patched soon (Bungie already confirmed this)
I don't see myself playing Halo 3 ever again after this one

Just wondering, since my friends bother does this a lot and it pisses me off, do you guys go online check the other players stats and go "Oh he only beat easy, i already beat legendary a bajillion times, he's no match for me"? I'm not a halo fan, but i will play it now and then if i'm over at there house and get bored. But then he starts saying this shit and it just ruins it. Which makes me hate halo more. So wondering who else here is guilty of that or is it just him being a dumbass.

Despite the AI's doing the most ridiculous shit, Jun actually took out two hunters and a couple of elites while I hid with no ammo at all. Despite it taking oh I don't know…a half an hour, he got it done. My reaction I was like fuck yes I was behind you all the way man. On a side note were Elites always this damn difficult before Halo 3? Those assholes literally are assholes.

Jorge is my personal favorite.. And yes, the Elites on Legendary are fucking assholes. I'm missing missions 8, 9 and 10 to finally beat the whole game on Legendary, gonna be a tough challenge.

Jun did save me on the fourth mission a lot, though, especially against the Guta. Luckily I just waited on top of a large rock with enough distance to keep away the Guta from me until Jun finished the job.

I see alot of people of it and sometime I see them have a assault rifle or a helmet and I really what that on my gamertag. PLZ help
