NGGH seriously having a hard time. I love Hatchan as the goofy cute character that he is and his interactions with Camie and the strawhats during the shabaody arc were heartwarming.
But Arlong is the first villain I really loved to hate, he made Nami's flashback one of my favourite by being a heartless bastard. And his design is just so marvelously crazy…
Gotta go through all the campaigns again... -

Arlong is STILL my favorite OP villain. Relentless, merciless, hateful, powerful, and he defined what a naturally strong enemy could be early on. His sawblade sword was cool, especially when he climbed the building with it, everything an evil warlord should be. And also… one of THE most satisfying beat downs Luffy ever delivered.
The guy ATE A CANNONBALL.
A lot of people brush him aside becaue Croc immediatley followed... but Arlong is still one of the very best arcs, and it moves me and gets me every single time. And the villain can be credited for that.

I figured it was going to be a really, really close one. But had to go with Hatchan, probably the first noble member of the Fishmen prior to the introduction of characters like Tom and Jinbei.

A difficult decision that took me over 20 minutes to make… Arlong is such a great bad guy, easy to hate and full of charecter. But Hatchan is so funny and retarded.
Both have their merits and I dont mind either winning but I gave my vote for Hatchan because he is so much fun, and I liked his coverstory.

The Arlong Park arc is where I started to really like OP. Nami's betrayal, heartfelt emotions, the march on Arlong Park.. and Arlong was the first actually impressive and cool villain. Easy vote over Hatchan for this reason.

He was one the earliest villains so he'll always have that sentimental value.. But really, besides being a total bastard to Nami and having a cool design, he was forgettable (and pathetically weak!)Hachi is a friend, an octopus, a swordsman ….. GO HACHI!!!
