That's an awesome idea, sadly it took this long. Long running shonen movies usually SUCK, partly due to a rushed process. You can't possibly come up with a great plot/animation/etc every single year.

Gotta love Oda and how much of a perfectionist he is. He got slightly involved in the movie, ended up masterminding the whole thing and is now trying to overhaul the whole system.

In the end it really depends if it's profitable for Toei to go this route. They're not Disney and usually their aim is to promote their products every year. This is why Dragonball got over 15 movies, Sailor Moon had a movie for each of the middle season, Digimon got at least 2 movies every season, so on and so on. Strong World was the first One Piece movie to break the "A new movie every March" since the beginning of the series. It made sense because the 10th movie is a milestone of sorts. I'm not sure how much influence Oda has on convincing Toei on the matter. Even the most popular mangaka rarely have any say on the marketing of the anime product of their works.

I think those were slightly easier for Toei to do so 'cause they were double features, for instance every Dragonball movie (except the 10 years anniversary Saikyou e no Michi) was a 45~50 minutes long film screening along Dr. Slump and i think even Slam Dunk movies at some point.
I hope that's for the good…But it will suck to wait for 3 years to watch a movie.
Does this mean Oda will write every Movie from now on? If this is so drats! I was hoping we would see a remake of the Enis Lobby arc! But this is also great because we know movies will be Awesome for now on.

i don't think he did less pages than usual, he just did tons of (awesome) double pages in chapters. The streaming sites don't usually count double pages as "page 2-3" sometimes it's just "page 2" and it "shortens the chapter.

Yes he did. You can go back and count the pages if you want. And it's only Mangastreamer that counts double pages as one. Onemanga eg. doesn't do that and Oda has certainly been making shorter chapter for quite a while.
Anyways as far as I can see this has nothing to do with Oda future work on the manga but rather with his newly gained influence over the Toei One Piece Movie Production team. So far it's only his suggestion but if Toei can make as much money with one good film as they do with two average ones he may have a chance. This could either be Odas personal attempt to make Toei produce better movies, or maybe this is Toeis way of testing the public opinon on this questiong, sending Oda to the (interview)-front. Whatever it is I don't think we will hear a final decision on this for many months. In the end it's the Toei bosses call, not Odas.

You should read it. Its arguably better than OP and a lot of other shonen/manga out there. The hiatus is over so you can read it while new chapters await.

whatever company is doing those OP movies before.. we know most if not all of them are shit and they want oda to write it because the OP audience aint stupid to fall for those shitty movies.
but we need to think that the essence of One Piece is the manga itself. OP starts its fame in manga. without manga, there would be no anime, no movies, no knowledge of OP itself. im not bashing oda, its actually the lack of quantity in the manga, im not complaining about the quality.. OP manga is still awesome, just not enough pages than usual. i think most if not all of us would have no problems if this movie 10's story was included in the manga instead.

we know oda planned one piece itself to last for only 5 years.. he plans things but he always is too awesome to abide by the time duration he says.. same situation here.. he's saying THEY should and plan a movie every 2 years but i bet he's aching to show his ideas for another movie… and also when he works for something, he wants it to be as perfect as possible.. he wont write a script then let some other people screw his masterpiece script.. we know oda never works according to plans (even his own plans).. he's just that awesome to extend one piece itself to more than 5 years and were not even halfway through..
But you could say that is first and foremost piece of work, the manga is suffering from his movie makeing effords. Maybe his perfectionism will keep him from working on another movie.
This is a short note that can be interpreted as "still involved in movies". In the long and detailed interviews however it sounded like Oda would not make another One Piece movie. They seem to be the more credible source right now.

I understand that this was said by Oda in an interview, but has Toei approved of this? One thing is for Oda to give the idea another thing is for Toei to actually accept it. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they did accept it. I mean, the tenth movie did great and I believe more people would go to see a movie of One Piece every two years instead of every year.

Dude, I know this may be hard to believe, but Oda's only human. He felt extremely stressed out working on the movie and the manga at the same time. He's not getting involved in another movie. Heck, Toei had to practically beg him to do Movie 10. He knows the manga will suffer again if he works on something else. He wouldn't say "I'm never doing another movie again" if he didn't mean it. He never even implied he wanted to get involved, he just wants Toei to have more time for their OP movies so they can be less rushed.
