Volume 57 Prediction Thread

Last adventure as a 17 year old? If its just him turning 18, that would send a lot of fans crazy. Still 17 was a funny age for him to set off on. 16, 18? Why in the middle, both those ages are special years for teenagers, but 17 is the oddman between them. Nothing big happens!
16 isn't that big, if we go outside US (don't know about Nippon though). 18 is the big one all around our planet. What comes to Luffy's age, I don't see 16, 17 or 18 as a big factor at all. He could be 19 and it wouldn't affect the story anyhow, unless Oda decides to turn Luffy into fullygrown adult exactly the moment he turns 18, which I seriously doubt.
If a timeskip is going to take place, it is going to be so long that it will really affect the story. Luffy maturing can only take place if the upcoming (?) skip will be five years or such.
Personally, I'm for the idea of a short timeskip caused by Luffy's coma. That would give time for SHs to return and their skills to evolve. There is always possibility of Luffy growing up to be an adult like in Romance Dawn, but in my opinion Shanks resembles that character and is the nowaday story's version of that man, he even has the same looks and the RD Luffy's ships figurehead looks like Shank's ships one.
We'll just have to wait how Oda plays this one. Some are going to complain, as they always do, but I'm sure that he'll give the story a nice little twist.

216 pages… 11 chapters?
-
Is it me or Oda forgot to draw the fishman comander? I see all the others…
-
It looks to me as if there's only a part of him on the right bottom corner, directly below Commander He-Man.

No Ace makes..little sense

No Ace makes..little sense
If Volume 58 will contrast with volume 57 like most people think, then Ace on the execution platform will probably be where Luffy is on this cover.
-
Given the short length of chapters, 216 pages may mean 12 chapters actually. I was hoping Oda would do a long volume for 58 seeing as it would be a better cliffhanger to leave off with Ace's death, Blackbeard's arrival, or next chapter possibly.
Kishi did this with Naruto 43, going up to 13 chapters.
Given Oda's 15 page chapters lately though (and 17), 58 could have 14 or 15 chapters and be 232 pages like some of the other 11 chapter volumes he did.
-
552-562 is 189 pages, while 563-573 is 185 pages (#573 ends with Ace getting punched through the gut). I don't know how many SBS/whatever pages Oda typically does, but it's not impossible for both to include 12 chapters, I suppose.
-
Don't forget all the blank pages (6), SBS+ Useless pages showing pandaman or something else (11), and also the fan draws (lets say 6) and VA interview? dunno about this one.
-
I barely see commander Adam, but the fishman isn't in it..
-
the SHs are totally not prepared for the new world, they need a year or so to train or whatever, so I suppose the time skip would be at least 1 year.

Last volume had also 216 pages and it was a 10 chapters Volume. And it can have some interview about the movie or the chapter 0 in it….
-
That's true. But Oda was still doing 19 page chapters back then. He switched over to all 17 page chapters after starting Marineford. He also did one or two 15 page chapters in volume 57. That means 11 chapters now is less pages than 10 chapters in volume 56. Volume 58 may be even more chapters in that Oda did about 5 chapters at 15 pages each during volume 58. He did 2 19 page chapters randomly that balance out two of the 15 page chapters, but it still averages out to less than 17 pages per chapter.
So there would be room for at least 12 in volume 58…if not 13 or 14 (14 chapters given the chapter length would come out to 209 pages of manga - meaning even with SBS it would be a 232 page volume)

Hey, Oda changed Whitebeard's coat to the anime's red color.

I think that was already pointed out.
I'm not bothered by the shortened amount of pages, since the artwork has been a knock out. But yes, an extra chapter at least should be in each volumne while it plays out otherwise no one is getting their value for their money.

So, on the next few days we (hopefully) might learn some more things about those unnamed New World pirates and Whitebeard Commanders in the SBS, hooray!
Here´s the pictures I gathered with some of the captains, possible captains and WB commanders(crappy quality):

Good job with it. But i think that few names will be revealed until the next data book! Which come soon i think.

563-One Heart, One ManI think ending at 561 (Luffy VS Mihawk) would be a good choice too. The way Oda summarized and concluded the first half of the war on the last few pages of the chapter would make a perfect volume ending. The kumabots appearing would also be a great cliffhanger.

Good job but how do you know that Blenheim is that giant guy ? I seem to recall that he was offscreen when he's been named.

One of the pirates calls for him to carry a frozen Joz back to the ship. Start of the chapter where Ace is killed, you can see him carrying Joz. I think most people figured out who it was even before we confirmed. It was sorta obvious considering the guy is the size of WB.

well,conecting the dots:
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/573-45/8
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/574-53/4We see a pirate asking for Blenheim to carry Joz,and in the very next chapter we see the giant guy carry joz in his back. Ergo,Blenheim = Giant commander
-

I totally missed that panel, thanks guys.
-
The strange thing about this is that they don't refer to him as Commander Blenheim, yet they are practically ordering him to pick up and carry "Commander Joz". So they give Joz his proper title, but not Blenheim, all the while ordering the apparent commander around. Haha…

Any news on the date ?

wat. It's coming out over a month later than it should according to the schedule they've been keeping since forever?
-
-
I wish it told Supernova birthdays or their crew members names of UGH anything awesome Dx
-
Cool, looks like we get an eleven-chapter volume even after Oda saying there wouldn't be any more. Too bad the actual chapters are shorter.
-
Ooh… so he finally gives the Admirals' inspirations explicitly (Matsuda, Tanaka, and Sugawara).
Nice. -
omg pictures are out and no translations? UFNSLODNFSLDKFN do want SBS translations Dx

Urouge's weapon is a pencil.

Urouge's weapon is a pencil.
Oda's pencil as in the creators tool? If Urouge at some point finds out how to use this weapon properly he might mess up the entire OP-verse. Mad monk indeed.^^

10: no idea
11: Genzo -
10 looks like Disco, the MC from Doflamingo's auction shop.
-
10 is Aphelandra I believe.
-
11 is Genzo, I'm pretty sure 10 belongs to Kerville (Baskerville's right head - or was it called Bas - no matter what the name it belongs to Baskerville's right head…)
-
It's neither Aphelandra's nor Disco's. No idea who it belongs to yet.
Edit: Yep, GiantGuy's got it right. It's Kerville's hat. Never would have guessed that.

Wow… the hats aren't nearly as hard as the shoes were XD

This page looks promising. It has the picture of Luffy in Alabasta. I'm assuming it's a question about death in One Piece.
It also has Urouge. Maybe his powers will finally be explained. -
What makes you think that it is a question about death? Does is say anything of that sort?
-

The first thing I thought of when I saw Luffy in Alabasta clothing is his speech to Vivi that people die in war.
I'm assuming that the question has to do with that speech and the upcoming war, especially given Oda's track record on death before this war began. And I know what people say about people that assume…but I'm sticking to my guns.
