Eight of our staff members have judged your entries, submitted to us, and damn did we have some amazing entries. We each gave your video a score out of 50, so your total score is out of 400. Now it's up to you to vote for our winners. This contest was insanely close, so we bumped the finalists up to 6, since the sixth place person was only one point off the fifth place. We had some freaking amazing entries that aren't on this list, since we all had differing opinions some very good videos were not included in this top 6…so we will be posting some of our favorites that are not in this finalist list throughout the next week or two. tough decision for me between shandi and joonwoo. Both had the best editing and song choices, but Shandi's was a bit better… plus the extra creativity didn't hurt as well.

The rest I didn't like as much.

Tough decision. Ultimately I thought about which one I could watch over and over again like I can for most good anime openings. As a result Dor L. got my vote.

Seamus H. hands down. Had the only song that stood out from the rest, I didn't like the editing of Shandi, the intro has always spoiled a little but putting names there spoils even more(for those who for some reason only watch the anime).

I took it off YT because it got flagged by FUNi and with JF and movie 10 coming up I didn't want any unecessary attention ^_~

Shandi has done the most polished job by a longshot but there are a few scenes that feel out of place in a OP opening.

That's the two I narrowed it down to last night.

I picked Seamus because I knew Shandi was going to get a lot of votes not only because it was at least top 2 but extra votes from people who just vote for first place without even looking at them.

I picked Seamus because the music and the lyrics fit really well with what was shown on screen. It edged out Shandi's for me just by a little. I felt the focus on the card was shown a couple to many times, it does seem to be the one with the most work put into it tho.

6th was not bad, just to long much like the current one.

Those songs were good, but they were nothing like any song that would ever be used for a One Piece opening. All One Piece opening songs have been happy sounding children's songs. To find a good One Piece opening song, you'd have to use a children's song. It just doesn't work otherwise. "Kaze wo Sagashite" obviously got a lot of you prejudiced towards children's songs, but that's because it was WAY too happy and was meant for REALLY young kids. There's a balance somewhere.

I can give the raw numbers (like the ones shown) if people want me to PM/email them, but depending on the people they may not like what they see, though there were definitely some that were pretty close to the 286/400 of the sixth place entry.

Kirsty and Shandi both had great entries. Hard decision but I like Kirsty's best for just using Opening 12 from what I know.

Jonwoo was good but Shandi just had that much editing and creativity put into it.

Both are great but I pick Shandi, if my vote does indeed count of course. I don't post often because I frequent another board but this was a really good thread.

Shandi's is pretty much better than half of the actual One Piece OPs.

Keyodie's was funny, though, and I liked Kirsty's and Joonwoo's.

Joonwoo K. - The music was a great choice, and the reversed clips were a nice touch. I think the clip of Luffy running was used maybe five times, but overall great timing and arrangement. A little bit too long for my tastes though. The end was unique, how you had clips interrupting the Luffy flying scene. Very cool.

Dor L. - I saw a couple of cuts that weren't too clean (when it flashes to another image a split second before the cut, idk what that's called) but nothing too major. The ending fit really well and the timing during the Impel Down part was nice.

Keyodie - Wow. I am completely blown away. Best AMV I've seen yet. Bravo. [/joke]

Seamus H. - GREAT GREAT song choice. And I loved how with the music getting more intense and reaching its climax, the video corresponded by going from the fruity stuff to Impel down and then to Marine HQ. There were no flashy fast cuts or anything, but the timing was well done. It helped that the song had a constant steady beat the whole time. Again, great song choice.

Kirsty C. - Yay I like this song. The timing during the Shichibukai/Admirals part stood out. The ending I think would've had a bigger impact if it cut to the One Piece logo exactly when the song ends.

Shandi M. - The editing was nifty at some points, but it's clear who had the superior editing software. Also, the only clips from Opening 12 were from the Marine HQ part of the opening. That said, the timing was outstanding and fit the song extremely well. The beginning was very cool and timed very well with the fast cuts. This would be the ideal opening – good song and no fruity scenes.

Overall, I think Seamus H. did the best job.

It's a toss up for me between Shandi and Joonwoo. Those 2 felt like they put the best use of the available footage to use.

Keyodie's is a giant WTF to me. Not even funny. (except the part with Buggy screaming, that was kinda funny)

Voted for Jon Woo but the two best were obviously Jonwoo and Shandi. I went Jonwoo because I didn't like the editing Shandi did with the static images scrolling down and what not. Though the names at the start were awesome. But man what were the judges thinking especially on number 4 that was not good at all :(.

Shandi M.'s clip was certainly the high tech approach. It get's my vote since it's a good opening, though not much like opening 12. In terms of makeing the best of opening 12 material itself I'd say The Dude wins but since you cannot vote the podcast staff it's a clear one for Shandi

Another thing I thought about when watching the openings again is the time. The original one piece openings have all been longer than 2 minutes 30 seconds yet all these replacements are short except joonwoo's. How can these be replacements if they aren't even as long as normal One Piece openings.
