all i've got to say is I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS ANIMATED!!
Chapter 0 "Strong World" Discussion

Remember all that talk in Impel Down about how the incident there could cost Magellan and Hannyabal their jobs? What are the odds that Shiki breaking out (not to mention Level 6) caused the previous Chief Warden to be fired and Magellan then of course became the Chief Warden?
-
I just can't get over this chapter, can't stop going through it. I really wasn't expecting something like this.
-
@joekido:
I wonder why Oda did not draw Kuma 22 years ago
my guess is Kuma will have some chater devoted about his past
Shanks has a high chance getting this considering his past with BBand we might get a glimpse of Croc's past in future chapter so that might be the reason why these three did not showed directly…. including Jinbei and Fisher Tiger...
its just a guess.. sio even I am not sure about this but... well it sounds right
lol -

That would be a good idea

yes, tell me about it. it's such a fun chapter… and it explains so many things.

lolDon't forget Awesome Moria vs. Happy Kaidou.
It needs to happen!

I don't get it. There is a possibility that Lola's mom was shown and nobody isn't hyped about it. But, when Lola's mom was first mentioned in the manga, everyone was going nuts, predicting that she could possibly be the last "Yonkou" and what not. Now it's as nobody cares, Captain Brooke is confused!

Didn't an ugly ass NW pirate show up in the war that people suggested was Lola's mom?

yeah the fat lady w/ "love" on her forehead might be lola's mom .
probably they didnt notice or sumthing -

Really, where was I?? You guys couldn't possibly be talking about that old lady pirate. She doesn't even resemble Lola.
@Mark:
yeah the fat lady w/ "love" on her forehead might be lola's mom .
probably they didnt notice or sumthingYeah, now, from what I getting from the RAW (since I'm basing that this could in fact be Lola's mom), since I don't know Japanese, isn't all those pirates with Shiki? Couldn't this possibly mean that Lola's mom was in an alliance with Shiki? And, from what we understand from the trailers of Movie 10, isn't Nami kidnapped/ joined up with Shiki? So, isn't this character development for Lola's mom since Oda basically set up that Nami would meet up with her sometime later in the series. I mean, I may be getting ahead of myself, but this could be the setting up of something greater/ another story line in the later part of the series…imo, hey, I'm just speculating here!
-
Well Luffy doesn't resemble Dragon … so that's no argument.

True True, but she does resemble Lola in a great way.

Colourspread is done!!!

Feel free to use for scanlations.Well, that was quick, thanks AJ!
-
Why is Nami not on the color spread? Can Oda not imagine her in Men's clothing or clothing for that matter. Can't remember the last spread with her modestly clothed.
Its weird seeing some people so young. But I guess that's what 2 decades can do.
-
So many informations!! i'm in heaven, thx Oda.
WHITEBEARD HAT: hes the man -

If you've seen the trailer, it's shown that she gets snatched away by Shiki in the movie, so at the very least a large portion of it involves the crew being separated from her.
-
Teach appears in this chapter too!!!!!!!!!! He is near Shiki!!!!!!! And Jozu!!!!
-
What's a bit strange…
Garp was said to be able to fight Roger on equal foot but it takes Garp + Sengoku against Shiki.
And where was this storm coing from? Dragon? xD
-

I'm pretty sure they'd do a little more than fire him… maybe fire him out of a cannon... into the sun.
And are my eyes deceiving me or is Bellemere wearing the coat of a Captain? Look at the fancy shoulders...
Also, who's that fugly guy next to Crocus and behind Roger? Probably some random fodder, but I like his design.
-

Not at all.
If Garp was equal to Shiki, then the outcome is uncertain.
If Garp + Sengoku can take down Shiki, it makes perfect sense to do so.They're not there to fight a damn wrestling match, they're there to arrest a powerful criminal.
-
**OMGGGG, LOLA'S MOTHER IS IN THIS CHAPTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I think) PAGE 10**
If you look closely at her forehead it looks as it's spelling Laura??
Compare the characters…...I believe it may be her!To me it looks more like "L
OVE". -
Ace was in Fuusha Village before Luffy was born?
Something doesn't make sense here.
-
After rereading the chapter a couple times and rewatching the trailer, I'm very interested in Shiki. I can't wait to see what he's all about in a couple of weeks.
Still thrilled at how much was packed into this chapter, I clearly had my expectations set a bit low.
Would have appreciated a Croc frontal shot though. =P
-
too awesome
gold rodger and his crew vs all those pirates
silver looks cool
wb and shiki meeting ? i wonder what that was about
is this a one off chapter or is there more?
-

Not really. Garp most likely made a first stop at Foosha Village before he went to meet Dadan. I'm pretty sure that Dadan doesn't live to far away from the village anyway so it would make sense for Garp to stop by there.

So how the fuck will Luffy be able to defeat Shiki? If he was once Garp/Roger level… Maybe the lose of his legs has weakend him that much + the old age
But what level was Zeff + leg than =(

I guess. This most likely means that Dadan has always lived in the mountains on the same island as Fuusha Village, and that Ace was brought to East Blue shortly after he was born. Shanks' time there may have had something to do with Ace, after all.

Except that Shiki lost both of those fights. How can you say that he's on the same level of people who defeated him?
-
Aohige_AP those three pirates in Shiki's alliance who get their own panels devoted to them they are not implied to be the three current top tier pirates held in Impel Down level 6 are they? Catarina Devon, Basco Shot, San Juan Wolf, obviously the gender pairing fits, and the background collusion between the Impel Down and current Marineford arc along with this Chapter 0 has certainly filled quite a few of the voids.

That'd be cool, but if you're asking if that's written anywhere in the text, then no. I assume they're just pretty strong cronies.

Nope, no mention of them.
As a matter of fact, Shiki stormed into Marineford alone, leaving his entire crew behind.
No indication that his crew was captured or not after. The prisoners yelling about the execution of Roger and the new pirate age are random pirates.
-
…. OMFG how did you EVER spot KIZARU it was like finding Waldo Dx I never saw him!! FFFFF YES GOD YES
-
-Sengoku being a fighter (who would have guessed that?)
Wait, people seriously didn't think Sengoku could fight?
-
Nope, no mention of them.
I knew it was wishful thinking, I just saw that Oda had already solved many huge mysteries some of which had just been introduced very recently, so I figured hey he might have shown us a glimpse of those 3 supposed "beasts."
But I guess that in the end is either going to be revealed in due time, or soon as part of BB's improv plan.
-
@Mad:
Wait, people seriously didn't think Sengoku could fight?
Ofcourse he can fight, but I for one thought that maybe his main strength was not his fighting ability but his strategist and tactician side. We can see here he goes toe to toe with one of the strongest pirates of his time so he's a bit above what I expected. Wonder if he's gonna do any fighting in the war!
And apart from that, this chapter explains so much, lays many theories to rest, and that is aside from all the amazing young shots of so many characters. What an epic chapter this has turned out to be!
-

Well… it was two admiral level against one and Roger didn't defeat Shiki as far as I can see it. A strom comes and pretends them from fighting or am I wrong?
EDIT
BTW Sengoku is like Sanji... Strong but maybe not the strongest but a great tactician -
Well… it was two admiral level against one and Roger didn't defeat Shiki as far as I can see it. A strom comes and pretends them from fighting or am I wrong?
Well, Roger was heavily outnumbered so I don't really know what to make of that one. Also, Luffy is facing off against 3 admirals in the current chapter, but that doesn't mean that he's on their level.
-
I'm guessing the 'Crocodile was a woman' theories are going to go up since we don't see his face here for some reason.
-

Shiki gets part of the ship's wheel embedded in his head which forces him to retreat. At least that's what I'm getting without a translation.
-
quick translation of two pages
Marine: It's just one man!! The enemy is Gold Lion Shiki alone!!
Shiki: There's no way losers like you would capture Roger!!! I don't believe it!!
He's the one man I recognize!!!
"The Pirate King"!? What about it!!
If he had lent me his hand… we could have ruled the entire world!!
We didn't get along with each other, but we both lived through the same era!!
If he's here, bring him to me!! If you plan to kill him, let me do the killing!!Sengoku: Roger is the "Pirate King". Your rivalry with him ended with his victory.
The execution is one week later, in the East Blue where he was born....in Loguetown, the "The city of beginning".
Garp: Roger's death will most likely break the hearts of all pirates.
Shiki: You're telling me the legend of the Pirate King will end in the weakest sea of all, the East Blue!?
Don't make me laugh!! Is this your final insult to that bastard!?
Garp: You consider it the weakest, but the East Blue is a symbol of peace...!!
Sengoku: We won't let you get in the way of the execution....!!!Garp, Sengoku, and Shiki....
The battle between the three ended with the town of Marineford half destroyed.
This is how pirate Gold Lion was imprisoned in Impel Down.I like how Shiki was a duel whielding swordsman before.
-
Just in case nobody spotted him:

While I agree with your overall reasoning you have to keep in mind that being on the same level does not mean that a fight would end in a draw.
-
I think what's interested me most about Shiki is that he's of the same old-fashioned pirate mindset as WB, but he has that twisted spunk to him…I'm not sure how to describe it, but it reminds me a lot of the parallel between Luffy and BB--as in he's very much the same as WB/Roger in personality and to some extent ideologically, but he has an attitude that shifts him to do things differently. Since his big "plan" supposedly takes twenty years, as him and Dr. Indigo say, you figure he had ample time to get used to having epic swords for legs. =P
-

The big difference is, Sengoku and Garp won the fight.
-

Clearly because of Sengoku's afro, especially when you consider what afros do, according to Ussopp.

Err, I'm only saying that there's no reason to believe that Shiki is on their level based on the fact that he fought against them and lost.
-
agagaga shiny eyes
Apart from all the other (epic) stuff, I really wonder if Croc's face not being shown means something or not. There are so many things Oda could be hiding this way (Croc without scar, female Croc, young Croc, …), OR it could be nothing, like in Impel Down when his face wasn't shown either but he hadn't changed a bit.
Damn Oda, you know how to make me keep reading your stuff.
-
But someone still thinks the movie isn't canon after this…
It would be strange with this MANGA chapter having Shiki being hyped in that way to make the movie non canon and never ever bring him in the manga again.
If it is not canon than he should appear in the manga which I doubt
-
Err, I'm only saying that there's no reason to believe that Shiki is on their level based on the fact that he fought against them and lost.
Garp was already around rogers level and sengoku is still an admiral so we know he had to be strong too…I don't see how losing to that kind of team proves that shiki wasn't on their level.
-

Did I ever say that it proved that? I must be speaking Greek or something. All I'm saying is that we don't get a valid understanding of his strength from this chapter.

Perhaps. He was clearly mentioned during the Impel Down arc, and if you accept chapter zero as canon, where Shiki essentially sets up the plan that he unleashes in the movie, then there's an obvious link to the movie. Maybe to a lot of people it depends on what happens in the movie and there's the problem of where to fit it into the main storyline, etc. I just sort of look at it all as One Piece being awesome.
