I have a Sony Ericsson w350i … I thought that's a good cell phone since the MP3 player and such but it sucks ... Luckily my contract is over in next year's June and I can in February/March pick a new one ... Don't know which I'll take.
Nokia N73 Music Edition + 2GB miniSD card (disregard image). Pretty good for music and quite handy, because it runs Symbain 9.1 which allows me to install lots of handy applications and 3D games. Camera is pretty good (3.2 megapixels, so average) and the earphones are really good, the music is crystal clear. I've had it for about a year now and I'm not disappointed.

I've never really had much faith in the HTC range when it first came out due to the amount of bugs and glitches found. But I've been hearing good things as time has progress on how they've corrected most mistakes and gained a reliable reputation. (Plus the new upgrade is HTC )

Also @Hekti, I had a Sony Erricson, good phones they are. I got one that was specifically made for taking photos, and for some reason or another,
it only had 25 MB (Yes, Megabytes!) of memory. I liked the phone, but the memory on my model was awful, so i got an iPhone 3G.
iPhone's been fine & dandy so far, nice & all that, but sometimes,
it can be annoying, and you miss the simple pleasure of having proper buttons

Touchscreens are useful, but you do still need a slide out keyboard, as touchscreen keyboards are fairly pointless. I wouldn't buy a smartphone that didn't have both.

Not everyone needs a touch screen. I do because it's necessary for internet & ScummVM.
If you just use a mobile for calls, a 3210 would easily suffice.

Fuck yeah Nokia 3210. I had that about 6 years ago and it was one of the best mobilephones I've ever had, easy,simple and durable but of course there is lack of features.

Like N97. But 1000$ for a phone that's going to get left behind once a new model pops up? And those beasts are hungry as hell for power, so I doubt the battery can handle it. And who wants phone that's only good for a couple of hours? What you're saying is actually really practical, but the phones that have both Touchscreen and a keyboard AREN'T. But sooner or later (I think it's pretty clear already) Touchscreen will be common for nearly all phones and maybe then a smarter choice will appear on the market.
Touch Pro 2 lasts about 2 days of normal use.
Samsung Exclaim. It's a good messaging phone and a dual slider (keypad and qwerty keyboard). I'm quite pleased with it, as it's great for im/txt, internet, email, games, youtube, mp3s (though with a tiny non standard jack I haven't used it), video… I'm just happy it does all that because I've always had the crap cheapo phones that did nothing and froze/crashed all the time =_=
It's not a smartphone but it'll do, maybe in a couple of years I'll spring for a nice one.

My School allows Phones to be held on the person, as long as they're
not taken out or used at all during the school day, so basically, no phones.
They allow this as many people travel like from far faaaaaar away
to get to school, so sometimes transportation issues will arise,
and afterschool you may need your Phone to contact home, etc.

Last year I had a messed up Blackberry and i decided to put it on vibrate in class, and for some odd reason it'll randomly get off of vibrate/silent and well…I had Down with the Sickness as my ringtone and i was texting my friend Samantha. When she texted back my phone was retarded and Down with the Sickness was played at full blast in a small class room. I only got suspended for one day but that phone irritated the hell out of me.
I hate my phone so much that even I charge it everyday, the battery on it would just deplete in one or half of the day and I'm not even using it that much. TV thing and video on it sucks, too. I hoping next year my contact would end and wanting to switch to Verizon. I'm thinking about getting a Droid if the contact ends next year.
I don't have one, but I can find alot of free ones in the dumpster near a gated community.

I have no idea what my current phone is. I think I switched to some AT&T thing so that my family could be on one of those various group plans. Lost my charger, though, and frankly don't use it much, anyways, aside from finding rides after concerts.

I have a blue Pan-tech Matrix, and I love that thing to death. I dislike phones with keypads that aren't arranged in the way of a real keyboard, it's just not convenient. I also like it because it's a nice weight to juggle around and spin on table tops when I'm bored, I recommend it lol.

I just wish they'd release an external keyboard for it, with a stand for the phone so you could set it up like a small laptop, and I could use the screenwriting application to conveniently do some writing anywhere without having to bring my laptop, which requires you to have to carry a bag and actually plan to use it.

I have the Sprint (HTC) Hero w/ Google Android. Of all the phones I have owned, and I have owned a good many, this one takes the cake. For now. It certainly has things it lacks, but it is well rounded and responsive, containing features or outperforming other phones in areas I use the most. Not to mention I can get two days with mild~heavy usage with the battery. I probably listen to 4+ hours of music while simultaneously browsing the web and send messages from my phone all day; at day's end, I still have 30% battery remaining.

I admit I am not much of a phone guru, so as long as there is an app for what I need/want I am sold. In this particular case RDP, Geo Tagging, GPS, and Jogging/Workout are the 3rd party apps I look for. Geography stuff is just…useful.

I used my phone to navigate a new hiking route when I was in the lake district recently, so yeah I know what you mean. It didn't show the elevations but did give enough indication allowing me to add on another 5 miles of remote terrain., great.
Btw have you seen the new HTC Magic?
