Beautiful, beautiful episode. Couldn't possibly been done better.

I won't lie… I cried like a girl with a skinned knee when Michael and Jim said their respective "goodbyes."
It kind of sucks that this isn't the proper ending to the series.
I can't think of a higher note to achieve at this point, unless Jim Carrey someone becomes the new boss and transforms the dynamic of the show.
And that's a HUGE if.
-
Will Arnett would be perfect, but sadly he has already signed on to a pilot of another TV show.
-
I'm on the Ray Romano/Jim Carrey bandwagon atm.
Even if it's a small portion of a season.
-
For the new boss? I'm personally rooting for Gervais or Carrey, the only thing I've ever seen Ray Romano in was Everybody Loves Raymond, and I think he's a bit bland for the part.
-
Jim Carrey is going to be epic, but he's obviously not going to do a TV show at this point of his career, neither are a lot of them (Gervais said no, Ferrell is signed on for only these episodes, Arnett and Romano have a show).
Personally, I'm hoping for James Spader.
-
Haven't watched the Office all season but tuned in for Steve Carell's final episode. It was a nice sendoff. It's a shame they won't do Michael's wedding episode.
-
I'll be seriously pissed if Carell loses the Emmy to a one dimensional nerd stereotype again.

Who are you referring to?
I haven't followed the Emmy's enough to know :x
-
Jim Parsons, Sheldon from BBT, won the Emmy for best actor last year.
Before that it was Alec Baldwin who won like three times, but I can kind of understand that since he's damn entertaining on 30 Rock. Parsons not so much.

And there it is! Michael is gone. Great episode. I think this season really showed Michael's growth as a character, even this episode. If he left early on you could expect him going all out with a party, getting mad when the littlest thing went wrong on his day, and than get over it as he leaves. Here he just wanted to leave everyone as they had grown; beautiful.
Jim talking to Michael hit me in the heart though. Throughout the episode you could see his glances at the camera man when Michael seemed in a rush for today, even though he supposedly had one more day. We knew he knew, and then when he talked to him….well it can't be said. You could see the real emotion in John Krasinski, as he teared up a bit talking to him. And Pam at the end, running and seeing Michael off was perfect. He always went to her for everything in the earlier seasons, relied on her to take care of whatever crazy thing he was doing. In the later seasons he kind of wizened up, she was starting a family, he had a new receptionist and was good. But this really showed Jim and Pam's strong friendship with this man who shaped who they are.
Gabe...well he shocked me. I never liked his character, because he was boring. But then again I think that was the point of Gabe.
I really don't like Deangelo. I'm NOT one of those people saying "Will can't replace Steve EVER" Because...well anyone who's been going by anything other than commercials knew he was only gonna be on for four episodes. And Will is a pretty good actor, and we're used to seeing him in these amusing comical relief characters. Seeing him as a character that is supposed to be serious, yet somewhat stage fright, and nervous about his new employees is...different.
Based on the Commercial for next weeks episode and the description, seems like Deangelo picks his favorites, is a sexist fuck, and gets fired or I'm hoping; Dwight and/or Jim trick him like they did Packer. It's obvious he fucks up somehow even if they commercial for the rest of the season just say "Something unexpected forces Deangelo to leave".
Now it seems the episode airing two weeks from now will be the one everyone wants to see: Dwight Shrute-Regional Manager. With Michael's letter of recommendation it seems he'll take control temporarily when Deangelo leaves. Can't wait to see this.
Now who will be the permanent boss? So far the contenders are from the current party: Darrel, Andy, Dwight, Jim, And possibly Kelly. From our celebrity guest: Will Arnet, Ray Ramano, Jim Carrey, and Ricky Gervais as David Brent.
From the current cast the ones I see most likely are Darrel or Kelly. Darell is kind of like Jim, in the fact that he's funny, and enjoyed getting his laughs from the stupidity of the things people like Michael said. I don't see him becoming the center of the show or anything, but it would work with antics of Andy and Dwight disrupting him and acting as a foil. Then Kelly, well it's been hinted at with her racial diversity training or something. And it's been said by some producers(or Mindy herself?) that Kelly is definitely a choice for the position.
Now celebrities....It's almost certain Jim Carrey won't join the cast. Just don't see it, he's to big, and wouldn't want to stay and do a show. I just don't see Will Arnet either, he just doesn't seem good for the show. Only ones I see possible are Ricky and Ray. Ray I could see joining if he sticks with his usual deadpan, depressive talking characteristic. He'd be depressing, failing at cracking jokes in a different way. Where as Michael tried to be funny, and the awkward moment came from when he wasn't funny but was trying to hard, Ray would be not trying enough, just trying to make it as least awkward as possible. And Ricky....well no explanation. This is his show, everyone would love to see David Brent as the boss.
Also loved the end when Michael removed his mic. "Let me know if this ever airs"
-
Catherine Tate is also a contender for new boss.
Gabe is probably the Scranton strangler. Kind of insane and he has a horror movie obsession.
-
Deangelo seems even more creepy to me.
-
I've been a huge office fan almost my entire life, and It's sad to see that Michael is gone. I hope they get Will Ferell to replace him, I love him! But I just wasn't all too crazy about how he was in the newest episode. Him screaming at cake was just awkward, not too funny.
-
I'm glad Will won't be on past next episode. He's a funny actor, but the role he's playing isn't a funny character….which I think their going for. He seems to just be more socially removed then Michael, where as Michael was socially removed, began to realize it, and just wanted to be funny.
-
Oh so he isn't replacing Michael, well I guess that's good. I could see Ricky Gervais as a good replacement, but I don't think he could pull off the same emotional awkwardness that Michael did.
-
I'm hoping Ricky replaces Steve. IF not him I'm hoping for Ray. I've only seen him in Everybody Loves Raymond, and he did some other show a bit ago that I think did terrible. Where as Michael tried to be funny for approval from everybody in the office, I could see Ray's character trying to crack jokes just out of pure social awkwardness. But as I said, I think Ricky is the obvious best choice and he probably has the best chance as….well it's his show, and he doesn't seem to be doing any projects right now.
By the way, anyone catch that Phylis said she gave a baby away in High School? The same episode where Erin said she wished she could talk to her birth mother....

OK, well "The Inner Circle" aired last night, and….well I think it was a pretty good episode without Michael. Until they very end I never found myself thinking of Michael, I was to busy with the other characters. If they continue as they did tonight, I will continue to be happy with this show.
So in this episode it became apparent what kind of person Deangelo is. He chose favorites in the Office; Kevin, Gabe, Darell, Jim, and later Andy. Also hoped on winning Dwight over. Kevin has always wanted to be liked which explains him sucking up, Deangelo got Darell into buisness school which explains him sucking up, Gabe's just a prick with no friends, and Deangelo seemed to take a liking to Jim...well because he's Jim. And he's the only one in the inner circle who wasn't sucking up.
Loved the juggling scene, but even better was Pam mocking it. Also loved Creed displaying actual excitement and awe in the background as Deangelo mime-juggled.
Finally at the end Jim was sick of Deangelo being arrogant saying he could dunk, brought him down to the hoop in the wairhouse and....well Deangelo brought the hoop down on him, and gave himself a pretty bad injury. I loved everyones silent reaction to this(Even Dwight didn't say anything). This was....a surprising way to get rid of Deangelo. And who wasn't surprised to see him walk back into the office bandaged up with IV's sticking out of him. How the hell he got back to the Office is beyond me.
Next week's episode is titled "Dwight K. Schrute, (Acting) Manager"...I think we've all been waiting for this episode for a LONG time. Jo is gonna come back apparently, I assume just to give Dwight the position based on Michael's recommendation, and this will begin the search for the permanent regional manager.

B-B-BUMP!
Seriously though considering the show is almost all said and done I'm bringing this thread back from the dead. One of the greatest comedies ever deserves better than this. (Yes I know season 8 and 9 have been meh…and we all miss Michael Scott, but still)
-
It's over…..
:(
That finale was great and wrapped things up perfectly. And yay for Michael Scott!!!
I'm going to miss what I consider the greatest comedy ever...

"I can't believe you came,"
"That's what she said,"
This is how you do a finale very satisfied with everything.

I almost cried when I saw Michael on camera. Happy because he showed up to the finale after all, but sad it had to end.
….but I honestly think the episode was perfect.
-
I was extremely happy about Michael too. It was brief, it was amazing, and the few things he said were some of the best lines in the episode. "I feel like all my kids grew up, and then they married each other. It's every parent's dream."
As for the almost crying, it wasn't really almost … those last 10 minutes or so had me bawling. Great lines, one after the other, starting from the moment Dwight describes his relationships with his subordinates.
-
My DVR fucks everything up, so I missed the ending.
