My elder brother was addicted to drugs when I was younger, and it was tearing my family apart and hurting him. Thankfully he is now not drinking or doing any drugs, but it was a tough time in my childhood seeing the way it impacted on his life and the others around him. For that very reason I will never take drugs, but I don't judge anyone that does.

I've tried opium and weed mixed and it was cool though it makes whatever you smoke it out of taste like fancy soap forever. Had a time when me and my friends did that for about a week then the well dried up and we moved on, haven't seen the stuff around since.

If you do some stuff like cocaine or heroin you'll definitely feel shitty the next (few) day(s). For some people it's convenient to just take more in order to feel better again. So yeah, it's not a craving but you can get addicted after one session.

I once was by a friend and we smoked the whole evening.
Sometime he came to me if i could be so kind to load his cell phone because i was the nearest to the outlet.
After 10 minutes my friends realized that i still hadnt put in the damn thing and i dont know how but somehow i never got it done to plug the adapter into the outlet.
Was like those kids who try to get a round object into a square opening^^

Let's just say.. I know people who've had "coke addictions" and people who still use it recreationally.(Not cool) The crash is terrible, but anyone who anything knows that Cannabis is the perfect when you're crashing. It's even used to ween addicts off the harder shit.

I also had ritalin as a kid (the doctors only thought I had ADD). One day I went cold turkey. A couple of months later, my parents found out and nearly freaked, only to find out they didn't notice any differences and just forgot the whole thing.
Last two times I had meds, I was convinced to take them when I was feeling really low (I have depression and these were prescriptions).
It's funny how I got worse each time and now I just pretty much almost have complete loathing for psychiatrists.

I think the only time I've really smoked cigs is when an episode of Mad Men pressures me into it. Not really a big fan, but I can handle a celebratory cigar now and then.

But man I loooooove cigars, Hamlets minis are my everyday choice, not too expensive, mild and just all round full taste, and we keep a special few away for boxing fight nights. I'm also a jiujitsu player and the tobacco absolutely wrecks endurance, so I would like to cut it down.

My dad's idea of babysitting on Saturday nights was to take me to his AA meetings (he's 25 years sober, so it's not a problem now).

That, and I always hear stories from my best friend about blackouts, and when combined with the fact that I'm pretty 'wonky' without alcohol, me drinking=asking for serious trouble.
From this side of the glass, drinking is just an unnecessary risk.
Still, I did promise my friend that when his B-Day came around next time, I'd have a few beers with him.

Meh, pot is similar to alcohol. You can build up a certain amount of resistance to it but it always affects you.

I don't know how often you smoke, but if it's affecting you less and less. I'd say 1 week for frequent user, but 2 weeks of non-smoking will reduced the built up THC levels in your fat cells. If that doesn't work, a month will clean you out and you'll be heading to the moon

If you're not dealing then you'll just get rinsed of your money fast! That and get palmed off with under weighed, wet, spayed, uncured, bushweed. I recommend growing it yourself.
I recommend growing automatic WhiteWidow / Lowryder. It is ready to harvest after 8 weeks from seed.. The obvious advantage is the small size and quick growth time.
As for the lighting I'd get an LED setup. It uses practically no electricity and lets off no heat to avoid those pesky porkers. Check out these two sites.

well, the plant that you see in my pic Smudger is not my actual plant (found it in google pics) but I have roughly the same size of plant @ home. I have a really good apartment balcony to do that. It is totally closed from all sides so it creates a micro climate which keeps it warmand it is south oriented so I don't need any light setup luckily. I mostly grow top44 nitro though because in my opinion it's the best plant for growing outside.
I live 10 kilometers from a coffee shop in the Netherlands though so if I'm out I can just go there and it's pretty cheap. Btw, in Belgium it's actually legal to have 2 plants for private use so I'd be crazy not to have them XD

Btw have you got any favourites? I'm still digging the 'Lemon Haze'. It is nice and strong, but more importantly surpasses most others on fruity smoothness. Though I have had a few rarer strains that totally overshadow it. The downside being the yeild and tricky growing.

Well, Me and a buddy are already growing for ourselves, but we really got no place to grow it, so the only thing we have are two medium-sized plants in the small garden of my friend. But they do look promising, I think two weeks and we can reap that shit.
Favorite sort is chronic, I fuckin' love this shit. It's very potent and I absolutely adore the smell and taste. On the other hand, It's pretty rare here and If you got a contact, It ain't cheap.
Other favorites are Blueberry, White Widow and some shit I think was called Purple Haze. Of course, not the original(which doesn't even exist, I think), a mixed strain.
But to be honest, I'm not that picky about weed, unless It's fuckin' shwag.

Well, smudger, I like White widow and santa maria and the likes that are easily accessible but what I am really digging right now is the haze variety, it's just like your tongue releases sweetness with every pull and it sort of scratches your vocal chords a tiny bit, not enough to hurt but a pleasant scratch like when someone scratches you on your back when it's itching.
Also, Salvia, this is some funny shit. I get really weir orientational problems because of this. I can sit on a chair totally relax with my back agains the back side of the couch and just fall face front to the floor. It's really weird. Hash, though, I think is even better, like super stinkin' jack but it's like 23euro/gram.
Also do blunts sometimes, it doesn't matter what type of weed you have as long as the blunt papers have a nice flavour and there's not much tobacco inside.
For what I grow, it's not too strong and has a mild flavour with a bit of scratch. It's ideal for outside from may till the beginning of september and you can actually harvest after 6 weeks so I just let it grow from may till september and have quite the plant.
No drugs, never will. Caffeine is strong enough for me - if I drink Mountain Dew after 4:30 I have a hard time sleeping at night, and I do have a tendency to get addicted psychologically on something.
Plus I hate how the U.S. is so hypocritical on drugs. It loves to blame Mexico and Latin America for all its drug problems yet everybody there buys them and takes them openly. Everyone in town knows exactly where the drugs are obtained and who is taking them, yet the police don't do shit.
My boyfriend has friends who were KILLED because of the drug trade, and my best friend lives in Monterrey where things have gone to shit, so anyone who fuels knowing how many people are dying because of it, I think of as absolute asshole.
