It's obvious that Oda is using his greatest work to create a firm association between him and his Lord. He uses his popularity to expose the evils of this world to children in a mode they can understand. One Piece will influence the next generation of kids so deeply.
Kids see the depth of what the characters say. Oda uses it ALOT, for example, because I just watched this episode, where they fight the Ball Priest and he uses impact dial on Sanji and says "Life is pain.". This can be reversed as, "Pain is life." So he's saying that to be punished is an act of grace. I believe Oda is against this form of religion as Enel's group are portrayed as bad guys.
