Release date: 10/20 (PAL 10/23)Borderlands is a science-fiction first person shooter with RPG elements developed by Gearbox Software for Windows, PS3, and 360.

Borderlands will feature four player online "drop-in, drop-out" cooperative play along with other single-player and multiplayer modes. Players can choose from four different playable characters who each have their own unique abilities and skill trees.[4] In addition, players may have access to customizable vehicles for "vehicular combat" and will also be able to customize their pre-selected character. Deceased enemies will drop some equipment, which is then available for players to pick up.

DLC for the game was recently announced, price: 800 MS Points for 360 (10$) and 10$ for PSN and PC.

The game looks pretty good, has a nice art style, I like how it's an FPS combined with an RPG, but I probably won't be getting it on release day.

I'm usually not into shooters, but with getting a PS3 I think I may very well get into them. I'd definitely want to play online, but the thing that concerns me about such games is rather you'll just be killed every second by someone just better than you. Simple fact is, I'm not a very competitive player.

^That's how it's with all online games. Nobody isn't good without practice.

You will have your ass handled at first but if you stick around enough long you will become the ass handler yourself. But there's still always somebody out there who can make your butthole hurth. That's the beauty of online gaming. Besides most FPS games has team modes. In fact in most games that's the focus. Play as a member of a team, good teammates will cover your arse.

But I'm not sure if this game even has a competitive online mode anyway. Borderlands is a role playing game. Kinda like Diablo but in first person and with futuristic weaponary (well, you can play Diablo competitively but… yeah).

My expectations for this game are... I really don't know. Borderlands could perhaps be awesome but the game is still sorta a question mark. I will wait for what the reviewers has to say.

Pretty funny video but that guy didn't even look or act like Pitchford. Nonetheless, I did get a chuckle out of it; I guess IGN is still good for something. On a somewhat related note, got my copy reserved and can't wait to play it.

You do know that the multiplayer in Borderlands extends to the single player campaign and not just player vs player right? @Yoska:

I just got Brütal Legend and Scribblenauts. Dragon Age: Origins, Tekken 6, Modern Warfare 2, The Ballad of Gay Tony are coming out soon. Dragon Age alone is probably a huge task. And this game isn't the most shortest thing ever either. But, hey, I ain't complaining. On the contrary. It's awesome to have so many games to play.

Still, probably better if I skip Borderlands for now. Then again it looks so much fun…

Borderlands is pretty damn good I'll have to say, although I have to admit Dragon Age does look better. The only parts so far in the game that suck have been these side-quests where you collect parts of weapons and the map isn't detailed enough and sometimes your vehicle doesn't always do what you want it to. Other than that, only minor interface things have bothered me but not enough to bitch about them.

I'm playing as Roland right now. I love turret stuff so he was a first choice hands down. I played with about 8 people yesterday and no one was Brick or Lilith. Soldier and Hunter seem to be the popular classes. The game has been fun so far. I enjoyed it single player and multi-player. The guns have been cool too. Enemy variation has been a little low, enemies range from small to large bandit or Skag in different cloths/colors. But i'm still in the early parts so maybe there's more. My xbox live name is the same as my name here so if you're playing this, look me up if ya want.

I'm playing as Roland the Soldier class, around level 27 I want to say. I've mostly focused on the Support Skill Tree but haven't ignored the Infantry or Medic trees so I've got some rudimentary healing and attack boosts; mostly though I deal in supporting myself with shield regeneration and my Scorpio Turret getting maxed out.

I think the dueling feature is a really fucking cool idea.

It's too bad that I just blew about 100$ on Uncharted 2 and Fallout 3: GOTY. Not that i'm complaining, but I gotta get my money's worth of those titles before I try this one out.

After some serious skill tree studing (okey, that sounded nerdy) I have decided to use Lilith.

I don't really like to play as a big guy so I ruled out Brick before I even thinking about who to pick. I like explosives, tho. That Roland's turret ability sounds something I would dig and Mordecai would be my obvious pick since I usually like to use rogue classes but Lilith… I dunno know. I just get this feeling I will have the most fun time with her.

lvl 17 soldier, i'm about to start a fresh guy so a friend and i can start a new game. Ran into some new enemies and the guns have been getting crazier.

On another note, I beat the game yesterday. I can see why people were complaining but I don't know what they were expected considering how the exposition was handled in the game throughout. I'm up for playing like I said come next week, I'm a level 35 support Soldier with a Leader mod.

Beat it at level 35? The storyline must pick up quickly then, because I'm a level 31 Infantry Soldier with Heavy Weapons mod and I'm still on the Jaynison (Or whatever it is.) part of the plot.

Without giving to many spoilers away, once the Crimson Lance start appearing in the game you've entered roughly the last 1/3 of the game.

Nevermind figured it out. Anyone else find the Rakk Hive extremely disappointing? He didn't even take out my shields before he was dead, fighting off the rakks he released before killing him gave me more trouble then him.[/hide]

Gearbox seems to be pretty determined to give Borderlands proper post-lunch support. With patches and downloadable content. Let's hope they will take example of Bethesda and Fallout 3. The Zombie Island DLC seems like a great start.

Man, holy shit, right when I was thinking it was getting a bit repetitive because I was doing all the side missions, the game just exploded into awesome and beat the crap out of me.

[hide]I mean seriously, as soon as you walked out of the fight with Flynt those Crimson Lance started beating the crap out of me. It should of been obvious that Tanis was working with the Crimson Lance, but it didn't even occur to me until she betrayed me. I mean, they help her continue her research and give her supplies so should of been obvious. Guardians and Lance at the same time was a nice touch as well.

Right now I just entered the Eridian Prometory. Should beat it tonight after I get off of work. Currently am at level 35 about halfway to 36.[/hide]

Ending was a letdown, everything right before the ending was awesome. I can live with the ending though because from that link that was posted it sounds like they're planning on adding more to the storyline. Zombie Island as first downloadable content seems awesome.

One thing that's really bugging me though even if they are going to expand on it in the DLC.

[hide]Why the fuck it mattered to the Guardian Angel whether or not some monster locked away in another dimension was alive or dead. The only thing I can even remotely think of are one of two things 1)She lives in that other dimension and found a way to communicate to other people or 2)She has a lifespan longer then humans and can afford to wait the next 200 hundred years. Also it pisses me off that we never got to go into the dimension and will probably never find out what's it's like inside after all the time we spent searching for and unlocking it.[/hide]

Better loot is around the corner or you have been unlucky. I have found some good stuff but also some orange weapons that were worse then blues. I have bought a few orange guns from the vending machines so check them every so often. Also, better loot drops when more people play. I may be on late tonight, lvl 50 soldier, so if you're on i'll be glad to lend a hand.
