most forums being overrun with silly polls, "what are you listening to?", and "post something about the person above you" threads. more like an aol chatroom than old BBS style. no real heart or soul or even purpose put into threads, they're just created because on other forums they got them running so they might as well post them on these too. lock all those criminals up in their own energizer forums and it's like they don't actually exist. swell.

The posts in the General Discussion don't add to one's post count if that's what bites you. Otherwise, you don't have to read them.
-
I'll note some merit in these "no-content" threads, in that you they can help to tighten a community. A really strict board, you only at best know "okay, he's the Kurobi fanboy, and he makes a lot of mistakes on stuff he obviously hasn't seen yet." With some social threads, you can get more of a personality

i agree with Bounty1Berry while they may not seam to have a point it can add some fun to a forum and help you get to know the people on the foum better. plus if you dont want to you dont have to read them

but.. but.. how would i be able to spam??
seriously, since it doesn't add to your post count, i don't see how it's a problem, and it could create bonds between members just by being silly together.

Nothing to do with post count, simply stupid spam threads that lack substance and thought.

ah, not everything has to have substance and thought.
Candy doesn't have to have a point, that's why it's candy.
