4ranky house, that's pretty clever, but don't you think you're making too big a deal out of this, putting it in your sig and all? The accent was less annoying than last chapter so it is an improvement.

There were actually a bunch of mistranslations, which is a bigger deal than an accent. Boa Hancock said "do as you like", while cnet and that guy from MH had her say "I will be forgiven", and they butchered two things Doflamingo said, about the bloodbath and "let's hook up".

And the accent is MORE annoying this chapter, last chapter Iva didn't replace "Th"s with "Z"s. "Zis is Vat Zat Zing is Zat is Really Annoying"
The "Th-Z" thing is charactaristic of a FRENCH Accent! W-V is characteristic of a German, and I have no Idea what accent "Eet Es a good day" is supposed to be.

I have been lurking this forum for years, but now I just had to create an account because I have a trophy to deliver. And this trophy goes to Demon Rin.
In all my years on the internet, on all the boards I have been on (active or passive), you, Demon Rin, are, by far, the most annoying person I have ever encountered. Ever! And that has to mean something when one can find massive hordes of annoying persons for example on Youtube right at everyone's fingertips. But you just conquer the crown of crowns.
It does not matter if it is a discussion about the usage of “nakama” or now about accents or about fanart or whatever. You are always there to proclaim your opinion. And do not get me wrong, it is good, that you have an opinion, everyone should have. But somehow you misunderstood Hamlet's concept about the “nutshell” and its implicated exclusivity. You seem to live under the delusion that the little bubble you exist in is the dominant way of exemplary existence for every other human being. Your opinion is dogma and being of different opinion is utter blasphemy. Countless discussions and you so often claimed that you will not say anything about the given topic any more just to reappear a few post below and continue your righteous havoc.
You do not like their work? Do not read or watch it. They do this for free, they put hard work and effort into it. But this string of thoughts has been brought up countless of times and you always chose to ignore it and this time it will very likely not be any different. The same goes for telling you about “constructive criticism” and presenting you with the label: “You're doing it wrong.” In through the left ear, out through the right ear. No reception in between.
You seem to have some kind of creative talent but again and again you use this “talent” to visually prove to everyone that you have an opinion and that this opinion is as universal as the second law of thermodynamics and all other persons are just plain wrong.
If Alexander Pope was still around I believe he had to rewrite his “Dunciad”. You either would dethrone Colley Cibber or he would even replace “Dullness” itself with “Demon Rin”.
For ten months I have worked in a kindergarten where also some of the children were physically and/or mentally retarded. But even there I have never witnessed such a primeval and basic need to express ones opinion above everything else.

TRUST ME I'm not the most annoying person on the internet, BY FAR. There are far worse people to be had on this very board.
I only get up-in-arms over Nakama, and most recently this Random Accent. it just astounds me that a board full of people who complained to high-heaven about 4kids giving characters random cheesy accents, are for some reason absolutely fine with Franky House doing exactly the same thing.

But OUTSIDE of this debate, you might wana notice, I'm nowhere near this opinionated. I'm NOWHERE NEAR a "Board Bully", If I'm a board bully, there are people you'd probably call Hitler.

But you are right, I should just give up this thing with trying to get Franky House to cut out the 4kids theatrics because... like 4kids, they won't listen. I've tried to get them to stop pulling a 4kids with Iva for a while now, but they refuse to, in fact I think it's possible they might be making the accent more ridiculous specifically to spite me, although that's probably not the case.

Just a word of advice, next time you want to tell someone they're long-winded and pretentious, don't do it in a Long-winded and pretentious way. it just makes you look like a hypocrite.

Binktopia is changing w's to v's with Iva's accent "incorrectly" as well, so why only pick on Franky House like crazy and ignore the rest? Additionally, isn't this an issue with the translator more so than it is with the scanlation group in general? Finally, I think that people expect more with 4kids because they're doing it for profit.

but Anata also become Vanata in Japanese. Anata has no W in it, and Those two words are the ONLY words Oda does this with. if he were making it an accent, he would have made "Mugiwara", "Mugivara"
Vai instead of I, Vou instead of You etc etc gets the point across accurately and perfectly, and presents it exactly as the Japanese fans see it.

I never said that you are not allowed to have your opinion and to voice it. If I did, please show me the passage where I stated that and I will have no problem apologising for that, because as I much rather said you should have an opinion. It is the way in which you voice it, or rather force it upon other people. I fail to see the need to do that, you are not oppressed in your personal development or something of the likes by a fan-scanaltions group. Or are you? If you are please tell me where you live and I will try to move there myself because there has to be the greatest personal freedom on the planet.

Also, you ignored wintergt's post completely, where he/she already suggested that maybe you are taking this too far/seriously. I encourage everyone to take a look at your signature and make his/her own opinion about it. What does it show? To me it shows, as I already said, that you have creative talent. But it also demonstrates a level of childishness that I have rarely seen (or even never, therefore the ”trophy”). This is beyond any criticism (even non-constructive), this is a direct attack on a group of people who use their free time to provide others with a free product. Now think about a virtue like “gratefulness”, get it? You said that they probably will intensify the accent just to spite you. I do not think so, but have you ever considered another possibility. They will just stop doing what they are doing, because of such rude and mean attacks such as yours? Have you ever considered all the people that are grateful for the work of Franky-House and that they provide these people with their service for free? That is the problem I have, using ones power to attack such altruistic people. Even if you are not grateful for their work, please always keep in mind that other clearly are and that it is unlikely that you have the right to rob them of the free product that they enjoy. Just think about this for a second, please.
And I am not saying to keep critcism to oneself, no, definitely not, I am sure they are glad to hear, how they could improve. But not like the way you did, by such a crude attempt that eradicates the boundaries between critique and open hostility. You know that your sig is seen all over the forum right now, in all the threads you ever posted. So please reread wintergts statement and think about it. And also, your comparison to 4kids is a really bad example. I must admit, that I have never seen a whole episode of One Piece done by 4kids and I do not intend to, but you know that they make (or rather made, or tried to, or whatever) money by airing One Piece, they do this for a living and criticising them is different than criticising a group of people who do things for free. You cannot tell a person: “Do a better job!” in such a mean fashion if this person(s) is not doing this as an actual job. Just my opinion, if you think this is the right way, I cannot change that.
I already stated that I was a lurker and I have never lurked the whole forum. The places where I “lurked” mostly where topics or subboards about fan-stuff (subs, translations and so on) and there it is that I often times found your discontent about the FREE work of others. And this really irks me, even more since as I already stated, but since it is the truth I have no problem repeating it, you HAVE a creative talent but you use it for THIS. What a waste of talent! You are also not stupid. No one really cares about stupid people being annoying, that is just the way they are. If a person who is quite obviously intelligent, like you, follows such behavioural patterns it annoys people, because they know that this person could do different, much better. Of course you are allowed to do what you want but to me this is a complete waste of your potential. And I mean this in all honesty.

If Binktopia does it as well there must be a very good reason CNet's translations I find are probably the best I have ever read.

My Major qualms are with translations that create false notions in the fans.

Like Nakama. It puts too much emphasis on the word itself. and this isn't my opinion, dythm, head of the group who STARTED the Nakama phenomenon, posted on K-F during their release of Water 7 that they only started the Nakama thing because they were having trouble with the "NAMI! OMAE WA ORE NO NAKAMA DA!!" line in Arlong Park, and he himself thought the term would become "Overused" which is exactly what my problem with it is. They have since "cut down" to using it only of times of heightened importance. The guy who started the whole thing thinks the same as me. (Only I think it much more strongly)
And this Iva thing makes people think Oda MADE Iva Russian when he didn't. he gave Iva a speech quirk that only applies to personal pronouns.

Yes, I've read your posts in the past, so I understand your stance on these issues. Anyway, nakama, accents, etc, are all decided by the translator, are they not? I'm curious about attacking an entire scanlation/fansub group as a whole for something that may simply come down to a translator issue (who is, in many cases, not even affiliated with the scanlation group). As far as I know, neither FH or Binktopia have a translator working for them that they use for their scripts, and they go hunt down translations when the chapter is released and use them without changing anything. I could be mistaken, but this is my understanding of the process.

FH was scrambling looking for translators when Cnet started reserving his scripts, at least. I've seen that Binktopia has just been using Cnet's translation exactly as he writes it recently, as well.

If binktopia or franky house decide to edit the translations they've found wouldn't the credits be wrong? I mean why don't you write a PM to Cnet and asks him why he chose the "V"?
I don't know they take the translations they get and fill the bubbles with it. What is their crime? Did you think that they themselves may have no super japanese knowledge that make them think "hmm this is indeed wrong" while reading it? I mean i understand what Ivan says. Even if it's a minor issue.

Well sure, but this type of mistake isn't exactly obvious/retarded. A typesetter/edittor can't be expected to know the details of an accent in a foreign language. Such a task should be left to the translator to handle as they see fit.

True. I also get into more debates with her on stuff than what's posted on this site as well. XD Guess it comes down I'm more close to my translator than most groups. The textsetters at FH(or several other groups for that matter) probably never even speak to the translators(hence the old Thriller Bark garbage never got taken care of), so stuff like that never gets discussed/fixed/etc.

Again people are up in arms over such a small error. Sure it's wrong, but there's really no need to FREAK OUT about it. In my opinion Demon Rin has a point, but like every other argument she's taking it way too far. You need to chill a bit.
