Oh well, if any city other than Chicago was going to win, I'm glad it was Rio. They were justified in that South America has never had an Olympics, so it was about time. And Brazil is awesome, so good for them.
I'm just sorry for Obama, as I'm sure his critics are going to use this against him. Not like Bush, McCain, or any other politician could have done better. Oh well. We'll have our revenge in 2016, Rio!

I cant believe some of the paranoid reactions from the American press. Some of the reporters were making out that they lost because everyone was conspiring against them.
I'm glad Rio got it. Hopefully lots of money and power will be used to turn it around, and help the country as a whole.
Brasilians sure are the luckiest people of the world. They already had the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and now the Olympic Games. 2 major events in a row. I'm sure they'll do weel for both of them.

They were certainly lucky in regards to the World Cup.
With the old method of rotation, 2014 would've actually been held in a European country but FIFA instead decided that South America should get to host it. Argentina and Columbia tried to organise bids for the Wold Cup but they never came to anything serious. Brazil, being the huge fucking football nation already had most of the stadiums built and so it just had to get everything organised and the tournament was theirs.
It was all very similar to South Africa, who are hosting the world cup in 2010. FIFA promised Africa they could host the World Cup and South Africa were really the only logical choice.
I was so happy when I heard this! Just about anything you film in that city has an amazing look and feel and it's gonna make for bitchin' Olympic promos!
