Read the first issue of the new Gargoyles comic. It was . . . fine. Mostly because it was just Eliza filling new readers in on everything Gargoyles-related. I'm assuming the real meat of the story starts in the next issue.
It's 100% a "introduce new readers to the concept" thing. Which is fair given its been 27 years since the show was on the air and 12 years since the last comic. I'm fairly confident from the previews that issue 2 will have more meat on it.
I would call the art "fine" as well. Not bad, but not particularly impressive either. Except for the covers.
It's be way better with a different colorist. The artist is pulling a ton of shortcuts to draw AND color it on a monthly schedule which is flattening the art and minimizing the backgrounds.
I'm not biased and trying to get on the book or anything.
At least its miles better than the SLG comic. I'm at least not insulted by the qualtity on this one.
