Anyone here planning on watching it? They've showed previews for it SO much where I live, and it looks interesting. I liked the original with Gene Wilder and the actual book.
I do wonder if it'll actually be good though. I've got high hopes for it (Johnny Depp seems fitting as Willy Wonda o_O ).

I love the original and love the book. The new one, well, I'm cautiosly hopeful at best. I'm a Depp fan and a Tim Burton fan so if I hadn't seen the original I would be quite stoked. As a big fan of the original I'm not sure how on board I am with a remake. I loved Gene Wilder as Wonka and I probably still know the songs. I'm just afraid that it won't live up to my expectations. If you remake a classic you damn well better make it better. Or at least different enough that the two can stand separate on their own merits.
So, um, yeah... I'll watch it (on dvd) but I have my reservations.
From what I saw in the previews, they kept the part with the squirrels. Hopefully they'll have the Oompa Loompas sing :rolleyes: .
Man i cant wait ! XD And it isnt a remake of the movie, it follows the book more closely.
i really want to go see this movie. it looks very interesting and i really liked the book.

I don't really want to see it. Tim Burton makes OK movies, but in nearly every single one he tries to put in that lame creepy fruity goth feel. It isn't necessarily bad though, he just does it all the time.
Plus the original Willy Wonka was perfect, I don't think another one could do it for me. And yes, I know this one is based more on the book, but Gene Wilder is my Willy Wonka.
My friend came up with a theory: Johnny Depp is only good with facial hair (Pirates, Blow). Otherwise he's just creepy (Charlie, Edward Scissorhands).
Can't wait to see it ^^ Tim Burton + Johnny Depp = Awesome movie in my book
