I'm looking to buy a new power supply for my new video card which requires a 425W minimum (probably going to shoot for 450-500). I'm hoping to find one for no more than $50…preferably less, but I don't want to buy a cheesy one either. I'm looking at options on Newegg.com but I don't know what all the features mean. If it says it's 500W, is that all the info I need? Is there something else I need to look out for, compatibility/quality-wise?
It says on the new card's requirements "425W PCI express compliant system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 28A or more". (yes I do have a PCI express slot if you're wondering)
Someone recommended this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817371007 but it's a bit pricier than I'd like.
Also, I'm looking to get more RAM. Currently I have 1GB and it's definitely not enough for all the stuff running on my system right now (how to cut back on memory usage is probably another good idea).
I have 2 sticks of 512 DDR2 (PC2-5300) 333MHz (DDR2 667) filling up 2 of my 4 slots.
System summary says Maximum capacity: 4096Mbytes, Maximum Module size 1024MBytes.
Is that saying how much I currently have, or what them maximum size each slot can handle? Meaning I can't fill a slot with one 2GB stick? Or would I be best off following what I already have in the slots and get two more 512Mbytes sticks? I don't know how sensitive memory compatibility is
