The msn groups. That brings me back. That was the first place I found manga and where I caught up with One Piece, when I enjoyed reading it even though those scans were horrid.

During the middle of Thriller Bark in the anime, I decided I was tired of getting spoiled and wanted to know the events as they occur weekly. That and I started to love One Piece more than I already did. So since I already knew about Brook joining, I skipped to the chapter with Camie and the Flying fish riders (deciding to finish thriller bark with the anime), and read to the chapter where Luffy arrived on Amazon Lily.
So my first weekly chapter was Mushrooms all over the Body, back in early 09

Oh, me too, I hated to download the full batches of chapters, I read whole naruto in a week, Fullmetal alchemist in the middle of a important college asignment, and one piece.. I think that I downloaded uptill skypea, and THEN went to the msngroups.

Skypiea? Ugh. Their Skypiea chapters were the worst. Bad image quality and translations. I'm glad I found AP forums by then. I really appreciated Stephen's translations during that arc.
I know it was during the fight with Oz. I think like chapter 478. But of course I've read the whole series like 20 times…
I started just before Brooke was introduced. I'm a bit late to the ballgame, but it's been my favourite manga/anime since then and I don't see that changing any time soon. ^.^

I started right after they meet Kokoro, the very beginning of the Water 7 arc. Early 300's, I think.
Well the first time i got aware of one piece was many years ago(7/8 years or more i was a kid im 22 now so.) when it was passing on the TV at 3 am(yes) and it was on the Baroque Works arc, basicly i would watch it but not frequently.
Then i started watching the anime till Skypeia or something i think it was in the foxxy arc or something anyway i started reading the manga frequently since Water seven i believe i remember them traveling to Ennis Lobby in the train when i started reading.
That was the actual chapter haha wich was dumb i didnt go to the chapter where i was actually in the anime but in the same week i started reading everything that was between Foxxy and the departure to Ennis Lobby and catched up to it till now but no i dont really remember the actual chapter.
I also readed all the chapter before where i was in the anime two times one online and i buy the Viz Volumes so i read it again.
I also remember reading manga on msn groups hahaha it was painfull compared to what we have now
I actually read One Piece chapters before, then stopped. I blame 4kids version for it, but my true first weekly chapter is 454: Hummer. I saw a RAW page scan of Nami against Lola, and the funny line Nami: "I'm a Man!", really had me surprised. Then found out she was just saying that to avoid getting hurt hahaha. So after that I jumped back into the anime and manga, and haven't stopped, yay!

Anyway i didnt suffer that with the anime since when it first started in Portugal it was subbed, now it just doesnt pass, 10 year old kids think cartoons/anime are for kids nowadays and prefer watching soaps.
I began reading I believe it was chapter 556 when Lffy first landing at Marineford. i just HAD to start reading the manga after hearing Ace was revealed to be Gold Roger's son. Ever since then I've read every single chapter and have seen every single episode in the anime:)
I dont remember exactly wich chapter. But it was during the Skypeia arc, in the end of the arc somewhere. Before that I borrowed the books from my friend who always bought them, when he stopped buy the books I started to read OP on the internet. At first at some Msn op group thing, later on OM and today at Mangastream.
I began reading One Piece in the earlier stages of the Water 7 arc.
I'm not exactly sure which chapter I started with, but it was a bit after I bought volume 19. That was like mid-october 2006. Near the end of Enies Lobby anyhow. Glad I didn't have to read that week to week.

589, I think, it was at the end of the Sabo flashback… yep, I know, pretty late. I've followed the anime for a long time, but I didn't dare to read the manga because I thought I wouldn't be able to follow and understand the fights and the action scenes... I don't read comic books or any other manga... so yeah...

I started reading one piece at chapter 520ish after I watched the whole anime, think right after Boa fell for Luffy. Then eventually starting reading it weekly, think I couldn't had picked a better time for becoming a fan of one piece. Since then every chapter just been amazing and kept me more curious for the next week issue. Since I started my weekly reading right at the beginning of the marineford arc.

thats riiiiiiight where i caught UP anyways. i started at volume 1, read the physical volumes that were out at the time, then read the rest online and this was the newest chapter when i caught up. and it was NUTS.
For awhile, I only just followed the anime. Eventually I decided to follow the manga and I started off at the chapter when Luffy sets off for Impel Down.
Before, I watched the anime, up until 1/3 of the way through Skypiea. Back then, I had caught up to K-F's releases, and wanted to see what happened next. I forget the chapter number, but I remember the one I started with was the end of Luffy and Sanji's fight with Satori.

I started on chapter 400 or 401 (I don't remember which) after getting roughly caught up (I skipped over parts of Skypiea, as the MSN group scanlations were poor and I didn't know how important it was at the time); I don't remember the exact chapter number, but I know that the CP9 battles were just starting.

As far as I remember, it was chapter 431, the Fist of Love. And tehn I read the whole manga just to fill in the gap between the end of Alabasta arc (up until I saw the anime) and that 431 chapter.

It would have been a lot sooner, but the first time i tried to pick up the manga was during a pretty hectic time for me. That combined with the crappy quality of the early scans and i was just like fuck it. Took me about a year to pick it up again.

SO are we talking bout the first time we read OP or the first…oh... weekly chapters huh? My first weekly chapter was the start of Jaya, I got it from an MSN group (One Piece group V2 I think. Its probably close now). I started out on the Indonesian translated tankoubons right from chapter 1 waaay back in 2001 (OP wasnt all the hype it is now). And been following it since, but the publisher wasn't consistent with its monthly release so I searched for other sources and found the MSN group.
I don't know which chapter exactly, but around the beginning of the Water 7 arc. 5 or 6 years ago for me.
I can't remember which exact chapter, but I know that I started at the beginning of Thriller Bark a couple years back and caught to where everyone fought Oars.
I started reading when Japan was just finishing Skypiea.
Let's see, the chapter where we see Luffy use Gear 3 for the first time and immediately shrink (when busting down the door). It was weird cause it was my first time peeking at OP manga stuff (I wasn't caught up with the anime yet) and I was like "WTF, the author actually draws Luffy like this? The anime version is soo much better"

I started reading One Piece in the Shonen Jump magazine that I bought for my son it was at Little Garden, at the time I had no idea about manga online being a bit of a ludite at the time and not having a computer at home,
I started reading it online around Thriller Bark days couldn't say exactly when as at the time I did not follow it regularly as I didn't want to have to much prior knowledge of the Shonen Jump releases. however I started reading it every week around chapter 500 or so
First read the manga online some 9 years ago, got to Jaya/beginning of Skypia, dropped it.
Somewhere in the middle, picked it up, finished Skypia and DBF.
Picked it up again some 4 years ago, went through the whole Water 7 Saga,
then came Chap. 430, read it online in an Apple store, had to hold back tears.
Been following faithfully on a weekly basis since.
