Subway does have the best oatmeal raisins cookies, though the 7-11 here in Dallas have some pretty amazing ones too. XP Doesn't hurt to splurge every once in a while.
Just go back from working out. Did 15 mins of cardio, then lifted weights. Didn't do as much cardio as i usually do. I am at a weight I am happy with, just want to tone. Watched animal cops while working out. LOL
I got to watch it though. I went through a mental checklist of what I've eaten today, and I think I'm about 100-150 away from 1200. Gonna find something healthy to put me over that mark. I don't do it on purpose..it's just the way I eat.
@ MoonNeko: May I suggest steaming the vegetables that you do like?
When you eat them, eat them in conjunction with your meal (i.e.: grilled chicken sandwich, small portion of steak, etc.). A 1-cup portion every day can go a long way; the same can be said for fruits, as you'll benefit from it.
This site here helps when you're running out of recipes for the vegetables and fruits you need to eat per day.
I have no issues with the veggies. I love veggies. Last night for dinner I boiled potatoes, cabbage, diakon, broccoli, carrots, and sauteed squash and zucchini and had them over rice. it was yummy.
I'm not a big fruit eater. I can't eat bananas cause they upset my stomach, and I am finding other fruits are the same way. I ate an apple today and it made me very nauseous. I love melons though, so I guess I should get those and grapes.

Thanks Hoffy!!
I'm totally gonna check out that site, I'm very VERY unoriginal when it comes to thinking of anything outside the box =_=;; heheh..
I can't even REMEMBER the last time I had a cookie =_=;; Though I seem to be doing FINE eating other things that are JUST as bad xD ahahah I'm self-destructive. But today is a new day! Ate a Banana and resisted the urge to buy the god damn catfish at work. Yes. It's also because I'm very cheap.
I don't go to subway that often. But we have an amazing deli here called Hungry Hobo and everytime I go I get chocolate pudding. yummy.
And yes it is good to splurge every once in awhile. That is why I keep my sat and sundays plus holidays as my splurge days. Those days I can eat whatever I want and as much as I want. Also you will find that as you get more and more used to eating healthier and eating less that you will want to splurge less and less. It will actually become hard to eat a lot and unhealthy. It is just a matter of training your body.
I will warn you though, if you are craving something give into that craving. But try not to eat as much of it as you normally would. Don't fight the craving otherwise you might end up breaking down and pigging out on it a lot.

So I just read my horoscope on facebook….
Your life may be taking a new turn, Cancer, but you have a lot of old habits to let go of before you can really take advantage of what is to come. One of these is the idea that you are stuck where you are: it really is time to fly. All you have to do is to release negative ideas about yourself that have been keeping you from openly communicating with just the person who can help you the most. Your horizons are about to expand, and you are about to enter a "bigger" world than the one you currently live in. Expect new friends and especially adventures very soon.
Wow that sounds so accurate. I am trying to let go of the idea that I am completely fat, disgusting and unattractive. And yes I am going to become a new person....or rather half of the person I am now!
i remember when I was a kid, I never understood how my mom just didn't wanna eat candy. it was so yummy. now that i'm an adult, I don't crave junk food that much either. put a chocolate bar and a bowl of fruit in front of me and 10 outta 10 i'll go for the fruit.
though, gummi candy is my weakness
hahaha it was the opposite for me. My mom would go for the candy I would go for the fruit.
One year all I would eat was fruit. Drove my mother insane! Actually my horrible eating habits drove my mother insane growing up.
My weakness isn't candy, it's baked goods. Breads, muffins, cookies, cupecakes….mmmm LOL
I'm better at resisting now. Especially since I read that the banana nut muffin I love so much is almost 600 calories.
Its good to be natural thin, so you cant get fat at all.
Its good to be natural thin, so you cant get fat at all.
Must be nice, I've never been 'natural' thin myself.
Muffins are the DEVIL but FUCK they are soo sooo good T___T I haven't had one in AGES.. god..I want one now. I'm thinking of my thighs..my thighs..
i'm not a big muffin person. they're usually greasy or dry. or not very flavorful. I love these fruit ones you can get at this bakery at South Common Mall in Missisauga though. and Tim Hortens fruit explosion muffins if I actually go there. Now pancakes. I luv them pancakes. I'll so make some for you girls next time I come down.
Well I work at a Grocery store, and they make the juiciest, most FATTENING Muffins you could EVER IMAGINE.. OH GOD..just thinking about one makes my mouth water….
pancakes are good too. God why are we talking about foot that's soo not good?? DX!! GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I want some of it sooo much now x_x; ahahaha no will power here.
OMG! I love Tim Horton's! I was craving some Timbits the other day. :( So sad that there are no Tim Horton's anywhere near me.
… I want cheesecake XD
When I cook, I almost always think outside of the box unless I just want it done quickly. This weekend, I had surgery - teeth extractions - so my food intake is now kind of out of sync. And since it was extractions, I have to eat soft food, so my out of the box instincts took hold one night.
The nurses had suggested scrambled eggs, or soft noodles, and just eating one or the other sounded plain and unappealing, so genius struck, and I combined them. Added some pure vanilla extract and sour cream in the eggs, and melted parmesian cheese on top, and it was fantastic.
I can't wait until I can chew properly again so I can make that dish and add vegetables.
And if you're blanching, you've obviously never had vanilla extract with scrambled eggs before.
Owait, this is about food that's good for you.
Thinking out of the box when cooking really isn't that hard though. You like broccoli? Add it to your mac and cheese instead of hot dogs. Cauliflower? Hell, put that in there too! Outside of the box doesn't mean cooking things without a box. Add stuff if you like it, or even take things out if you don't.
I don't like kraft noodles, so I could take the noodles out, and theoretically just cook some vegetables with the cheese instead. And that JUST POPPED INTO MY HEAD. That sounds really good actually. Stupid teeth.
It doesn't have to be a big out of the box moment either. Start small. Do you have oatmeal for breakfast? Buy the plain oatmeal instead of those packets. Use just a handful of oats, don't add sugar of any kind, and then just cut up some real apple slices or bananas instead. Stir in some yogurt or applesauce. Those dried cherries or cranberries in the cupboard you bought and then never touched.
Out of the box is easy.
It's when you're stuck cooking just what's in the box that it's hard to eat better.
I avoid cooking from a box. I usually do home cooked meals.
Made potato bacon chowder on sunday. Delicious stuff right there. Might make White chicken chilli later this week.
Honestly it is a lot cheaper to go buy a bunch of ingredients and make yourselves homemade meals. If you have left overs you can freeze them and eat them later. Plus you should have some left over ingredients to make other things.
That's for people who keep crying that they're unimaginitive.
But seriously? Just start with what you like, and build up from there.
If they want to stop crying about how hard it is to do things differently, how about this. The easiest thing you could make from scratch is stew.
Every single stew I've ever made from scratch has been different from the last. It's never ever been the same. You start with the meat as a base. Cook it first before you add the water. If you don't eat meat, then maybe you need to use some buillion cubes to make the broth.
Then you just add whatever the hell you want. Nothing is ever wrong in a stew.
The point is, you don't need a recipe to make good food that's good for you.

Hey I live in that area too!
I love Tim Hortons I've never tried the coffee (I'm 16) but I love their strawberry tarts and chili.
My family also got one of those pancake/waffle makers, so we're eating them almost every day now.
Must be nice, I've never been 'natural' thin myself.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Well, I'd like to share my personal weight loss story:
For all my life I had always been the fat kid. Growing up, as a form of child banter, my brother would always call me Fat Boy. I was never really depressed about my weight because I was happy with my life overall. Being a big boy never really stopped me from doing anything different, and my skills with the ladies stem from my personality and natural charm. But things changed about a year ago. My work started doing the Biggest Loser Challenge and I entered it twice. When I started the damn thing, I weighed about 300 lbs. being 6' tall. Since it's completion, I've lost 80 lbs. over the last year and now I'm even more motivated to work on toning my body. I've been doing plenty of workouts now to tone my body so that when I decide to cosplay, I won't look so absurd. My abs is what I'm currently focused on big time so that I can get washboard abs like Luffy. Haha.
And the secret? I cut out all soda, beer (I'm in my mid-twenties) and anything carbonated. I exercised at least once per day for at least 30 minutes, and other times I'd exercise longer. I never ate a dinner past 8 PM, so that my body would be sure to properly digest the food I had eaten. Also, WATER is key. Drink plenty of it. It increases mental focus and properly cleans out toxins and improves other digestive functions.
I also cut down from regular milk to skim milk since I'm a huge fan of cereal. It took a year, but I look great and feel great. :D It's definitely worth the effort.
Wow that is an amazing story! Great job!
Do you have any before and after pictures?
Yeah, sure do.
Anonymity is a lost cause on the Internet these days.
! Before
! After!
Not the BEST comparison, but there's at least a difference.
EDIT: I fail at forums. Ugh.
:D
oh wow! That is an amazing difference. Great job!
I think it's a hoot to tell my co-workers that the secret involved me screaming "I wish I beautiful" while making a fake throw-up gag face.
I think if I work hard enough, I could cosplay as Ace. :P
Yeah man you can totally see the difference, you're looking amazing. Keep it up!!
Did anyone watch The Biggest Loser premiere last night? Seeing how a couple of them had to be hospitalized attempting a one mile run, and one of them never even showing up at the first week was shocking. I watched their ass-kicking work outs and saw their results and realized I can do so much more then I've been doing so I'm ready to step it up @_@
And I've lost 2 more pounds so yay~ 41 more pounds to the ultimate goal, though to get halfway will put me at the normal weight for my height so I'm striving for that. 9 pounds lost so far so yay~
Keep up the good work! :D Just stick with it!
Good Job Arei! I wish I could tell you my progress, but it will have to wait to Oct 1st.
Although I can tell you one thing that was very frustrating. Back in July I had weighed myself and found out that I had lost 30 pounds. I was super excited! I went and tried on some of the smaller size pants that I had kept (in the hopes of fitting back into them.) None of them fit me, all still too small. But I didn't let that bother me. Instead my husband and I went shopping for new pants. I grabbed a pair of jeans that were the same size as the ones I was wearing. The ones I was wearing were actually too big, so I thought that the same size should either be too big or at least fit me. WRONG! The jeans wouldn barely go past my knees. In fact I had to buy a pair of jeans that were two sizes bigger than the pants I were wearing. Actually the jeans I bought were too big, but the next size down was still too small. I cried on the way home, I went from being so estactic to complete misery. lol But I ended up gaining back twenty of those thirty. Which doesn't surprise as I literally lost 19 of the original 30 in a day. And rapid weight loss usually results in rapid weight gain. -sigh-
I really want Oct. 1st to get here so I can weigh myself and see how I am actually doing.
Are you sure your pants haven't shrunk.
I've been wearing 14s usually but I were able to wear some brand new 12s because they haven't shrunk. ALOT of my jeans shrunk bad @_@ Enough to be a size or two smaller then they're supposed to be.
My friend gave me a pair of Lucky jeans that had shrunk like that so I've got to get down to almost an 8 to be able to wear them again @_@ blah and they're supposed to be 12s.
haha yes I am pretty sure my pants haven't shrunk. I am so paranoid about the length of my pants shrinking that all my pants are cold washed and then line dried.
Hey I live in that area too!
I love Tim Hortons I've never tried the coffee (I'm 16) but I love their strawberry tarts and chili.
My family also got one of those pancake/waffle makers, so we're eating them almost every day now.
i always have to stop off there on the way to square one. :3
ok, I am not hindered by sickness this weekend. I'm gonna excersize somehow this weekend. even if I have to walk. (i hate walking) I should get a pedometer. I'm a tad obsessive compulsive. It's a great motivator sometimes.
my sis and I have walked the last two days n_n we walked when it was chilly and threatening to rain but GOD DAMN IT we haven't seen the sun in a week Dx it's making it IMPOSSIBLE to get some outside exercise xD though good luck Captain Usopp ;3;
lol I walked to the mail box this morning even though it was raining @_@ It was soooooooo cool today <3 I just wish it would stop raining DX
I think I'm going to walk to the mailbox every day from now on just to add some extra excerise.
My grandparents live in the country so there is a decent walk from the house to the mailbox because they live back on 15 acres. So no its not in front of the house XD not even close o.o
Got in a good work out today, hopefully theres some small result at the end of the week~
I have a slow metabolism, so I have to work extra hard at keeping a somewhat slim figure than normal. Here is what I have learned, and what I do to look good.
I work out at least 3 times a week at the gym. There I do weightlifting to tone and cardio. Although I try to keep the weightlifting to every other day to give my muscles time to repair. Cardio is key to burning fat, do as intense working out as you can (But NEVER overdo it.). Not only will it make you feel great, but it the end you'll also notice a difference in your appearance.
Eating right is the most essitial part of losing weight and keeping it off. It not only matters how many calories you consume, but what makes up those calories. Eating 1,500 calories of fast food is WAY worse than eating 1,500 calories of fruits, vegetables and lean protein. Your body needs nutritious fuel to work smoothly, rather than gunk that will clog it up.
Eating 6 small meals a day is much more beneficial to keeping your metabolism working. Also, differing the amount of calories you eat a day by a few hundred can also avoid weight plateaus and maintain a fast metabolism.
Avoid refined foods, especially sugars, they are basically empty calories. Try sticking to whole grains and wheats, which are full of nutrients and fiber, which fill you up. Drinking water is also extremely important. Stay away from red meat, which is often fatty and stick to lean meats like skinless chicken or fish. I am mostly vegetarian, so I rely on beans, soy, and nuts for my main source of protein. Fruit is a great way to beat the sweet cravings with a fraction of the calories, most of them are small enough to carry with you when you have the sudden urge to eat sweets.
One of the most important eating habits I have gained is eating until I am satisfied. Not until I am stuffed. Portion sizes in America are often much larger than they need to be, and many of us are taught to clean off our plates when it really is not necessary. Stop eating when you start feeling a little bit full.
blah blah blah. I could go on for a while.
Quick, someone sticky Hole's post as THE post to read in this thread. Everything in her post is valuable information.
Eating right and correcting one's eating habit are too essential like you said, Hole.
I've started eating in smaller portions and much more healthy than before. Surprisingly, my gut's been steadily going away with the proper dieting, in conjunction with working out twice a week (which I probably need to up to three times per week, lol).
Hole.. if I can look as smoking hot as you do by doing those simple things.. then FUCK YEAH I will try xDD
I read in a magazine today * I work overnights at a grocery store..there's not a WHOLE Lot else to do…* And I read that to calculate how many calories you need to intake during the day in order to lose a pound of weight every week, you take your current weight and multiply it by 11. Ex. My weight is 165. that times 11 is 1813. That's the allotted amount of calories I'm safe to eat every day in order to lose a pound a week. Also it said that's with proper diet and exercise. I will be incorporating this into my diet.
I don't have a gym membership anymore, but that doesn't mean I won't keep doing something here at my mom's house to work out ^__^
Your guys stories motivate me sooo soo much :D
ohhhh this whole carb thing makes my head spin. I wonder if I can try to do it.
k, I'm about 130 times that by 11…that's 1430. so about 1400. that doesn't sound like a lot @_@ will I go hungry?
and at work, I usually have 2 six inch subs during the day. (now the flatbread since we have it now...goes to look at nutrition chart...) shit, the sauces really add up. so being generous, that's about 880 for me. so, omg, that only leaves me 550 for the rest of the day. calories are evil. I wanna enjoy eating. it's once of life's pleasures.
at least i'm getting fiber and calcium, and veggies, and stuff.
@ CU: Do you eat the Veggie Delight at Subway? IMO, it's the best thing they have at Subway, especially if you eat one Roast Beef 6-inch sub during the earlier part of your shift, and eat the Veggie Delight towards the end of your shift.
(Try to eat wheat bread, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, green peppers, pickles and olive only; try to always opt out for the other condiments other than Honey Mustard, since its the least fattening of all of them.)
If you just do a strictly Roast Beef/Veggie Delight diet per day, it's only 520 calories total, leaving you with 910 calories at the end.
I actually only eat fish. but the turkey's actually better than the RB :3 That's what Jared had. Turkey and Veggie subs. and stick away from the pickles and olives too, since they're salty. (i'm Subway's poster child)
Mine went up cause I added the honey oat which I love and has extra fiber, and added cheese and went with the fattiest sauce to be on the safe side since I like to mix it up. If I only went with mustard, I'd be in business. but then that wouldn't be fun.
I cans chew again. Mostly.
I've started to make sandwiches for lunch on top of carrying snacks. So I've been looking into finding my favorite meats and cheeses (nomnom meunster). But what I really want to find to make the sandwiches more special and interesting are the breads.
Yes, I know. Whole-grains and all that. But there are tons of different kinds of whole-grain breads, and I want to find ones that are also more interesting to the palate.
Hey, my friend was telling me about this challenge you can do. find a partner in another city and challenge eachother to walk 10 miles in one week. good motivation.
my problem, was how do you know what 10 miles is. specially over the coarse of a week. So I was thinking of a pedometer. Then I got thinking about my DS and seeing a game with 2 pedometers. so…tonight, I was bad, and bought it. which will be good for me. I wonder how much I walked today. guess i'll have to play with it tomorrow.
the challenge seems cool and i'm waiting for pokemon HGSS to come out cause you get a pedometer free.
what's this pokemon game? and when does it come out?
Not concerned with Pokemon myself, but I did start a food journal today! So far soooooo good :D I'm planning to keep it up HOPEFULLY until my next con..god only knows when that is =_=;;
uhh, I feel bleah. I just had 2 7 layer buritoes from taco bell. did you know that's over 1000 cal. I'm learnen here. :D
long story short, I'm boycotting our kitchen atm. I have a high metabolism, so I NEED something that's gonna fill my tummy. (in some ways, you people who eat like birds have it made) I decided to go to taco bell cause it's cheep and filling. uhh, maybe I shouldn't have done that though.
It did get me outta the house though. I wonder how many steps my pedometer says I took?
I just got back from doing a hours worth of Cardio. I feel great!!!!! Burned 353 Calories. XD
I got a secret cosplay in mind that I want to look amazing for, Along with looking great when I cosplay Naomi. XD
So I got to my college this weekend, and I'm pumped about a full brand new gym, cause this way I'll be able to work out in the middle of the day even when it's super hot (I get very dehydrated normally no matter how much I drink so I can only work out in the mornings/evenings, which puts a huge damper on workouts at home), but because it's move-in weekend, stuff is closed.
I go to the gym and I try to get swiped in and the guy says "you're a freshman. Gym's closed to freshmen until tomorrow." Having run there and already in the zone, I try to go for a run, but it's 95 out and my coffee's sloshing around. Not fun. I ended it at two miles >_>
The closes included the healthy eating place. And the normal DC closes early this weekend, so I ended up splurging on a AM/PM microwaveable burrito. I love burritos, and it said it was only 450 calories…
Oh wait, I say after I finished. That's for HALF a serving. Right when I was starting to get in the swing of things too. Even so, if you ignore the black licorice I only ate 1500 calories today.
Well sometimes you can't control what you eat when you're at school, you gotta eat what's there afterall !! Besides, I think if you ran 2 miles you're gonna need to replenish your body. Sadly I'll never get to know the wonderful feeling of running and getting full benefits from it, so I'll just stick to my walking briskly at the park.
It's super early this morning, going to try and see if my sis would be up for walking for 2 hours instead of one and a half today since this weekend we didn't really walk since she worked and I ended up jacking up my sleep schedule. I got 20 minutes of exercise in yesterday, so not THAT bad all things considered.
Day 2 of food journal. I think I'm going to have a bowl of cereal this morning so I get my vitamins and calcium in. Thinking about a salad with chicken in it for lunch, maybe some steamed veggies and something else for dinner.. hmmm…
edit
Went walking for about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Our water got hot but other than that it was nice and sunny, and pretty breezy!! I think we went walking early enough that it hadn't gotten hot yet thankfully x_x;; It felt really good to get out and walk after such a dreary week/weekend =_=;
I need to up my excersize a bit more, but I did realize something else I could do for lunch today which is probably a mite healthier instead of filling my gut with bread.
I went to make my lunch sandwich this morning, took out all the inside ingredients I wanted, and was ready to go! … Untill I saw the end piece of bread that was left. The rest of the bread's frozen, so I opened the fridge to put everything away, thinking I'd have to buy something for lunch instead ... only to see the flavored jalopeno cheese tortilla wraps. BRILLIANT.
By the way, it's delicious.
less carbs. that's for sure. that's why I can't do wraps. leaves me hungry
