I need to go on a diet really bad. I have gained 10 pounds since moving to Houston, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it is a few inches. I feel so uncomfortable in my body. I try, but my biggest hurdle is that I can't cook, and my boyfriends is a pretty bad influence on me. I also don't have a gym I can use. I will try to walk every morning though. My goal is to be at 140 by December. Five pounds is doable right?
Lose the weight, look great, in cosplay

Try this: http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5-beginner-strength-training-program/
I lost a lot of BODYFAT. and gained some nice muscle. not pounds (thats not the important part)
even if your a woman this is good for you, just read through it.
the workouts are pretty easy once you get the hang of it, theres not that many of them and you really dont have to do cardio at all (maybe besides walking to the gym) . . .actaully cario is actually bad for losing weight (just read the site)
(the workouts do get a bit harder once you increase the weight a lot but by that time you will have lost the body fat anyway.)
Find the gym nearest to your house, or just by the weights, rack etc yourself and go go go.
Oh and the diet is easy too, just eat lots of meat, mixed nuts, vegetables and fruits (like salads etc) and you're good to go.

Managed to lose 10 lbs in the last month or so. Just need to lose about 15 more to get to my goal weight :3
Honestly, all I've been doing is portioning my meals, even when I eat out, and I get my exercise at work; lifting boxes, climbing ladders, power walking… Also, I drink almost nothing but water and unsweetened tea. A cup of coffee here and there, but not excessively. -
Last time I checked I was roughly around 127lbs/9 stone, but I know I've gained some weight since then… no idea how much since we don't own any scales > A < been meaning to use this exercise machine we got but no ones used it for ages and I keep forgetting > A <

Though this thread hasn't been used for quite a while I thought I would use it :). I'm going to try to update weekly (every Friday). As of today, Thursday, March 11, 2015 I weigh 142 pounds. By this summer I'm going to try to lose at least ten pounds. I feel as though writing this out on the internet will greatly motivate me to stay true to my goals.

good luck!! I've been training for a 5k and lost around 9lbs in the past month. Kind of stuck right now but I'm hoping to break through soon

One of these days I need to get myself to really trying to lose weight. Tired of being fat, generally too depressed to have the energy or motivation to change it. -_- I'd love to cosplay as some of my OCs some day and not look like a whale doing it. I actually lost about 40lbs last year, due mostly to walking to and from work as much as possible rather than taking the bus. But, of course, winter came and it was too cold to walk that much, and I got too lazy to exercise at all while at home, so now I've gained over 20lbs of it back.

Last year, I had an epiphany. I said "This is as close to 300 as I want to be." I'd moved to upstate New York, gained back the 10 lbs I lost, and then gained 15 more somewhere during the two years I'd been here.
Only problem was that, this was around the time our car died, so suddenly no car. So scratch trying to find a gym to go to. Never mind the fact that I'd only ever lost 10 lbs at the gym in all the MONTHS I was there. So apparently, I was doing something wrong. I had no idea what though.
So I work at night now at a hotel. Long story short is that means I get to see INFOMERCIALS. And get to see all of the workout infomercials of bullshit most people roll their eyes at.
Until I saw this one. And suddenly, I knew how wrong my gym going experience was.
Because fuck that shit if you have no idea how to feed yourself. I sure as hell didn't.
The 21 Day Fix has portion control containers that tell you how.
I know - portion control sounds scary and that you're not going to eat enough and you'll starve.
I never did. The portion control containers are color coded containers that come with the workout program (green for veggies, purple for fruit, red for protein, yellow for carbs, blue for healthy fats, and orange for seeds/oils). Usually, the immediate knee-jerk reaction is "whaddaya mean I only eat one of these a day?" Except, that's the person that's stopped paying attention or zones out the rest of the information. Because at my weight range, I eat 6 green, 4 purple, 6 red, 4 yellow, 1 blue, and 1 orange.
Every single day.
I'm currently at a plateau/break due to holidays, but I want to jump back into the program as soon as I can because that plateau is at 45 lbs lost since April this year.
I'm going to lose the remaining 55 lbs to reach my "healthy" weight, and see where I can go from there.

I suggest boxing, Muay Thai, or kickboxing for anyone trying to lose weight. I can never bring myself to go to a normal gym, but I find it very satisfying to kick and/or punch a heavy bag for an hour.
