Gym memberships are awesome, if you can afford them and have the time for them… Which I do not =/

Lately I've been far more active in my work because I'm a rep for a Sony game that involves lots of movement. I've come home with sore arms almost every night. But its a good kind of sore, lol! I feel like my muscles are being worked and I'm constantly moving around.

I also have been finding more time to eat 3 decent meals during the day. Cereal in the morning, usually Special K with almond milk (only 60 calories!) and I take a sandwich for lunch usually, and at night we eat like some soup with veggies or wheat pasta. Once we can afford it again, I want to start eating salads again. Just haven't been able to buy any more groceries, we're living off of the food that was given to us.

I've been told I have lost my "baby cheeks" LOL.

I'm frustrated because I have access to a really nice gym (being an university student) but in early October I fell and hurt my ankle really bad. I can walk, but if I work out normal one day, the next day I can barely walk. I work retail, so I need to be able to walk. It is very frustrating.

I went Veggie before, and I lost a lot of weight, and felt the best I have ever felt. I really want to do it again. I just got to wait till I get a rice cooker and stuff. I don't have a kitchen. LOL I can't go vegan though. I use to live off eggs. 🙂

        I WILL be 130 again!

Ooo, I've found the perfect sub-forum! XD
I wouldn't say I'm large at all, but I'm "technically" overweight, and I have the good common sense to not cosplay sexy ladies until I've achieved my goal weight.
I'd love to cosplay Perona so bad, but my natural waist isn't that shape unless I wrap it in steel boning!
(..I want to buy a hula hoop because I've heard they're good at whittling down the waist.)

I think I'd probably have to lose another stone to feel comfortable in that cosplay.
I'm 11 and a half stone, and I'd love to be 11. 10 and a half is just a dream I think.. XD
And I didn't get that weight off the best way either. I'm a total eat-beast and the only way I was able to shift it was with slim-fast. It's not as bad as people think, but it did the job… 😧
I hope I'll be able to get some helpful and healthy tips to weight loss here~
          ^_^

Oh, one thing I've been doing lately is for breakfast, I take a banana, some almond milk, a bit of whole wheat oats and a drop of vanilla extract and I make a breakfast smoothie. Its lowfat and it keeps me full for a good while because of the banana and oats.

I use almond milk in place of regular milk because it has much less fat if none at all. Even a glass of 2% milk can be just as bad as eating french fries. I doubt I can even handle regular milk anymore. Plus, you get all the vitamins and nutrients in almond milk that you get in regular milk, but its only like 40-60 calories. I recommend it for those of you who drink milk and want to lose weight. It is a bit expensive, but I'm willing to pay a little extra because its so good.

              this is the trick.
Eat protein!!!!!!!!!!! Lean protein example : FAT FREE milk, turkey (deli), Almonds, EGGS (YES), Whey Protein Powder, FISH, and others.
Lean protein takes longer to digest therefore burns more calories, not only that but also fills you up AND it is proven to burn belly fat!!!

Now with that down, next step is to stop eating rice and pasta and instead eat Whole grain pasta and brown rice. eliminate all sauces for pasta and start making your own with canned or diced tomatoes, olive oil and use all the pamersan cheese you want, it is proven that parmesan cheese not only a good source of protein, calcium and low calories but also it proven that its bacteria and other stuff help activate cells and processes that burn fat.

Another important thing to do is eat Vegetables, if you dont like them cuz of flavor, simply grab them, warm olive oil and parmesan cheese and spread it on the veggies, it will be healthy and taste nice!!!.

Then try not to eat bread and instead use low carb tortillas to do wraps.
also try eat as much Salmon as you can, since Salmon help reduces swelling and inflamation and also is huge in Fatty acids that burn bad fat and help reduce Cholesterol.

with all that down, then start and grab protein whey powder , put two scoops on the blender + 3 pieces of Ice + 1 banana or Strawberries or blueberries + 1 cup of fat free milk or Almond milk, blend together and eat that for DINNER or BREAKFAST.

Also, to help burn bad fat and speed up metabolism, you can drink 2 cups of Green tea (with splenda or other non sugar sweetener)

well I hope this works. stick to this diet and at least try to work out 20 min a day, lets say go around and walk for 10 min and then do some abs or girl push ups together with some dancing moves in your room alone LOL for 10 min and you will see how in 2-3 weeks your mid area , face etc will be slimmer. Trust me, I did it.

Ps if you drink even sugar free, diet etc soda, you might not gain weigh but you might feel fat cuz you might be bloated. also you might not be able to see the progress because of the gas.

                @HatsuSunny:

I may be going a little off topic here….

But anyone knows a fun, easy physical activity to do on a daily basis?
Not rly looking to loose weight, but...Not to gain any...

I normally go on walking my dogs, but its more stressing with all the barking, and going alone is boring...

sex twice a day, do wonders!!! girls on top if they want to burn more cal; lol

Maybe gym memberships aren't the way to go.
I don't know about you guys, but I find the notion of sitting in a gym and pumping irons or using a stationary bike incredibly boring.
I would lose all motivation within weeks.

Perhaps trying fun activities would be better?
                  skiing, kayaking, etc…
I understand that this may be time-consuming and/or expensive though.

I feel the exact same way about gyms. Hiking's my favorite thing to do for exercise. It's also relatively cheap (hell, it's free if you don't want to shell out for better gear).

There's a gym near my college which is free for students, but I'm too scared to go by myself… XD
When the weather gets less slippy and icy, I'm going to start going for daily walks again. An hour everyday to blow away the cobwebs is what I need.
I'm getting serious cabin-fever being stuck in the house >_<

I'm considering getting one of those Active 2 games for my XBox. Its basically a personal trainer for your game console, the first one was only on the Wii. But what I like about it is that it has different gear that comes with it and you can keep track of your progress online. It used to be like $99, but at Best Buy it went down to $69. I'm loving all these work-out and dancing games for the next gen consoles.

Might be nice to be motivated to do workouts like that at home. Its really cold right now, and I don't usually like to leave my apartment unless I have to because we live way in the ass end of the complex.

The thing with those is you have to maintain your diligence. My family got the WiiFit for christmas a few years back, they used it till march before it got put away, never to see the light of day again.

Lol I remember the first time I went to my personal trainer. I was sore for like a week afterwards (but honestly, I kind of like how it feels). But as soon as you go exercise again, the soreness will go away 🙂 Some good stretching of the sore areas will also help.

I'm making it my goal to work out for at least an hour every 3-4 days. Mostly working on my legs, so the elliptical is my friend =3. Also attempting leg raises again, hopefully I don't injure myself this time.

ugh I got fat over the holidays, gained almost 5 pounds. Makes such a huge difference since I wear skinny jeans, especially because I always gain weight first in 2 'woman' places. Holidays are so hard, it's xmas then new years is my birthday, I had like 6 parties to go to all with cake and cookies ( I LOVE COOKIES NOM NOM ), most my favorites made just for me. The last of the cake is finally gone and I've loaded up with my usual veggie and low-fat good-for-me organic fare. Working out like a madwoman. Hopefully the extra weight will be gone in 2-3 weeks if I manage to eat well. Here's hoping!

I still think that if I was fat I'd just keep the weight so I could cosplay as Robotnik. I'm not in your shoes though.

Unless, she's serving you chicken broiled in its own juices, buttered, and then dipped in hot oil, it's not a bad idea to eat leaner meats.

Since you're in Texas last I remember, I won't suggest fish.

yeah, I would have recommended fish, too. but we're kinda spoiled by good seafood up here in the northwest.

the vegetarian thing worked for me when I was younger and needed to lose a bit of weight, but I have friends (I did it myself for a little while, too) that have cut gluten out of their diet and it makes a dramatic difference, and quite quickly, too. you just have to really stick with it.

                                                  nope, not gonna do it

i'll eat beans and rice or have a boiled egg occasionally, but i am god damned serious about losing weight this year, and i knew i had to make a drastic change, so i quit meat (except for some seafoods) and soda cold turkey

                                                  my will is iron

i've lost 5 lbs by last saturday (since jan 2) and my next weigh in is this sunday. i'm hoping i lost another 2lbs this week, but i ran out of money so i havent been eating as many small meals as i should have. i'll post the weight here.

is anybody else here dieting right now? i think it'd be cool if we could weigh in here maybe once a week… that's the one thing i always missed about weight watchers: the guilt of other people knowing you ate french fries all that week

Speaking of iron, you should watch your iron too. A friend of mine lost HAIR because she didn't have enough.

And I was thinking about posting a daily journal of what I eat on here.

I'm not watching anything like sodium or anything. My trainer just told me to count the calories, fat (all fats, not just total fat), carbohydrates, fiber, and protein.

Not to restrict them (besides certain fats), but to make sure that I do get 100% what my body needs since I'm exercising.

I have that 'skinny bitch' book and it's pretty much a handguide for going veg. It tells you where you can find all the vitamins you need, like iron (grains, oatmeal, broccoli, etc) and protein

actually, the only vitamin you can't get in a vegetarian diet is B12, but I've always taken vitamin supplements anyway

(Stupid Question): Have you tried walking to lose weight?
I'm trying to shed some pounds, and I found that walking two miles to familiar places is a good way to get some extra fat off (I say familiar because it's easier to walk someplace when you know where you're going).
It also helps if the route has some small dips and hills, to get some extra work in.
That's only me though, and plus if you're not careful you can end up really tired, or with your joints and back aching.

My biggest problem lately has been lack of motivation. I feel like I can't get back down past 180, I fluctuate around it but now below and it frustrates me to no end.

I don't know, I've been told that I "carry my weight well", but I still just feel so bloated all the time.

Because I've been on sort of a vacation, I haven't been eating that well. I do try to, like I'll munch on carrots every now and then, and if I do go out to eat, I avoid drinking sodas and drink either water with lemon or unsweetened tea. I did do a lot of walking the last three days I was with Brandee. So maybe that balanced out the fact that we were eating fast food and such? Maybe a little. Walking is always nice, I do feel good when I go for a walk.

Also what I hate the most is that yes, it is best to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and such, but for one, healthy food in general is really expensive and usually very perishable. Its hard to work that into an already tight budget. Only thing I can do for now is buy frozen lunches that are not too terrible, like those Michelina's Lean Gourmets. Yes, they are high in sodium, but its still better than eating a burger and fries. I do try to buy some vegetables, carrots seem to have a longer life than most.

The best thing I am glad that I have done though is buying almond milk instead of actual milk. The brand we get is only 35 calories a serving. About half of what is in 1% or 2% milk. I don't think I can handle real milk anymore, lol. Almond milk is a little pricey, but it is worth it if you want to lose weight, I'm pretty sure I've said this before, don't know if anyone pays attention to what I say but whatever. For the record, I had started losing weight right around the time I made the switch. Or at least, it was noticeable.

This title sums up my current thoughts. I want to cosplay this year, but I want to slim down and just tone up a little this year. Last year (2010), around Feburary, I decided to lose a bit of weight as I didn't like my image weighing at 82kg (180 pounds).

So, I got on our treadmill and did 30 minutes of running each day for three months, till I got lazy. After the three months, I had dropped from 82kg to 70kg (158 pounds). I was also eating healthy which I believe helped a lot.

Unfortunately, due to slacking off, I've gained 4kg back. So, beginning of Feb, I'm getting back onto that treadmill and I'm aiming for 65kg (143 pounds).

                                                              LETS DO THIS!

"Now show me your fear! Drown yourself in the awe… and despair! Cry like a lost child! Because my art... is a BLAST!" ~ Deidara (R.I.P)

yeah! I get up two-three hours before class starts, and before I eat anything, I hit the track and walk/jog a mile. This apparently puts your body in a fat burning mode for the rest of the day (as I'm told). I don't over do it so I have enough energy to walk to class and do well on assignments.

I just wanna sit in bed. Been trying to keep up with vitamin D. it's been helping a lot. I got up and organized my closet. I have so much more cosplay than I though! ^^

I just want to second this, in case anyone is doubting the power of early morning exercise. I recently started going to the gym before class as opposed to after (so 8/9/10ish) and I've lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks with no change in workout routine or diet. It was kind of terrifying at first but I'm loving the boost in confidence that I get from being <150.

One thing I'd recommend, though, is instead of doing that mile on an empty stomach, do go ahead and eat something first. It doesn't have to be a big meal or anything, just a little something. The reason is because when you wake up, your body is still in sleep mode, which means a slow metabolism. When you put food in your body, that tells it "I'm awake, time to burn some energy!", and it kick-starts your metabolism. So, you'll burn more calories during your mile and probably during the rest of the day too 😄

I'm going to try to start getting up in the morning and working out again, anything you can do (though strength training does the best) helps to burn calories throughout the day.

I finally was able to work out this morning without pain (my spleen is a little enlarged, trying to figure out while still) and hopefully find a class to take soon. And get the fibromyalgia under control so I can go for much longer. Because I'm really tired of my chest/ribs/muscles/whateve the fuck is hurting killing me just after 30 mins. I want to be doing an hour atleast of work a day. I miss when I could do 2…

I've got so much to lose now I want to cry TT_TT

But for the last couple weeks I've cut down soda to just once a week (though preferably, I'm not really going to drink much anymore except for going out to the movies (and well, when conventions start, I'll probably be drinking a couple during the weekend).. though we almost go to the movies once a week >_>. I'm trying (and failing because chocolate is hard to resist) to cut out sugar from my diet. Well I think the no-sugar is going to fail miserable so it's going to be cut out all the junk food sugar (and sweet tea ;A;)…

Two years ago I weighed 280 pounds! The weight had snuck up on me as I rarely ever paid to much attention to it and had just excepted the fact that I was a large dude. Then one day I went for a short hike with my friends and found that every five minutes I needed to stop and catch my breath. How had this happened? I came up with all the excuses I could think of but in the end I knew what had happened. It was on the way back down I had a conversation with one of my friends about life and life goals. Right there and then I promised myself I would change my habits. I went home weighed myself and almost cried at the result as the scale read 285. The next day I went to Mcdonalds and felt sorry for myself. So much for a change in lifestyle, but the funny thing was that night I chose water instead of a pop. The next morning I went for a walk and then I went again the next morning. Sure, about a month later I gave into a craving but it is about forming good habits. Sadly the bad ones can be really hard to overcome.

Over the last two years I have slowly chipped away at that number as my current weight is 215 pounds. I am still not at my goal as that is 190 but the biggest thing I have learned over this period is to not beat yourself up. If you make a mistake and binge it is not the end of the world just continue to work at it. Remember it is not a sprint to the finish but a marathon where the end goal is not a number but a healthy happy life.

I have nothing useful to say in this thread but…become a fan of my facebook page to see my latest adventures: Here!

I feel like such a fatass lately, I gained 5 pounds which pisses me off. So today after work, even though I was tired as hell from a 7-3 shift, I jogged over to the gym and worked out for like an hour. I even logged some results:

10 min on the eliptical: 100 calories burned (not my best, but I was exhausted and my knees have been bad lately)
45 min on the treadmill: 227 calories burned, walked/jogged/ran 2.16 miles total.

So along with the 10 min to and from the gym to my apartment, I'd say it was a total of 340 calories burned. Give or take.

I guess its not bad, but I'll see if I can top that next time.

my dad has to watch his cholesterol. He gets to eat yummy pomegranates now, and green tea. and we were just talking the other night about how whole wheat nachos were much tastier then normal ones.

My brain is like addicted to chocolate or something.

I feel very uncomfortable right now since I quit eating junk food. Physically and mentally. I know I feel hungry because I'm craving the crap and it's terrible. When it gets like this no amount of protein soothes the beast but this time I'm not going to let it beat me, except chocolate is very hard to avoid. I just had 2 hershey bars TT_TT I fail at life.. I haven't been drinking soda or eating much in the way of fast food the past couple of weeks and, though it's never a bad time to stop eating junk food I think I picked a really bad time with my gut being all out of whack @_@ But of course, avoiding a lot of sugar helps this.

There's other issues going on, but I'm determined this time not to let it get the best of me ^^
