I voted for Nami.

Go Nami! The Last Great Char In This Tournament!
-
Fanservice bait, or legendary man-among-men. Ain't hard, folks…
-
Voting for Nami.
16chars.
-
Wow, this is a hard one. My heart is torn between the awesomeness that is the Pirate King, and the main character of one of my favorite arc's.
I'm waiting for campaigns.
-
Voting Nami. xDD
-
Roger is great for back story for the current situation of the world. He was the greatest pirate captain the world has ever known. Yet, he really hasn't done anything mostly cause he is dead but still we haven't seen his exploits featured in the pages only mention by other characters.
Nami on the other hand is an integral member of the SH crew. Her role is actually pretty big with only Sanji, Franky, and Chopper's roles being just as important ship operations wise. However, lately her character and persona have been taking a dive for just plain fan service. She was showing some noble qualities in Sabaody but Thriller Bark she was relegated to pure fanservicy damsel in distress.
-
go nami!!!!
kick pirate kings butt!!!
-
Go Nami! The Last Great Char In This Tournament!
Normally I'd ban you for that statement but I'll laugh at you instead for having eliminated Chopper and Robin from the tournament. Kuhahahahahahahahaha
-
w00t! My vote makes it 25-24 Nami!
-
Vote for a pirate king and now the explanation:
Gol D Roger is not really an awsome character, actually, I know very little about Gol D Roger himself and what we have so far seen has been hinting he is a great character it is just for now we know only fraction.
So why vote against Nami who is a fully developed character one of the main ones as well.
Well its exactly because of that, her character as it is, is for me personally almost everything I wouldnt want a character to be. Now lets revise:
Nami joined Luffy to steal from him, once that was done through and he saved her ass, she has been loyal to him…However joke or not she is still treating all the cash SH get like her own.
I realise its suppose to be a joke but to me thats just some fracked up chain of command. And when she is bossing around and alike its nothing different.
I ll admire her for her common sense and good navigation skills but there it stops, I believe what Nami truely has to learn is not, better navigation or mapping the world, but respect towards her captain and crew, you can still put jokes while doing that without making look captain like a dork and without any authority he should have had.
It would be shame for me to see at the end of OP a pirate king who is treated like a 10 years old boy by his own crew. It would take away from his title a lot.So here you go that"s why a vote for Roger, not because he is godly, for now for me he aint, but because facing him, its the character of Nami…

voted Roger … though I fear he shall lose anyways.
and OH GOD. I can already see the Nami hate =_= god that's going to get OLD.
-
Ugh, I like them both but…
I guess I'll go with the Pirate King~
(Wouldn't it be awesome if the deceased Pirate King won the Tournament, anyway? :D) -
Closer than I thought … VOTE FOR THE FUTUR, VOTE FEMALE, VOTE weatherwoman NAMI!
that's all I have to say, sunny sunday everyone!

It's called a quartermaster. The quartermaster is in charge of things like guarding and dividing loot, delegating responsibility, and distributing supplies. All decisions could be overruled by the captain if he/she saw fit to, or by a majority rule of the crew. So yes, hate on Nami because she fills a position that nobody else would do.
-
We have one piece because of Roger the pirate king….
VOTE FOR THE ONE AND ONLY PIRATE KING -
Uh oh, first Whitebeard, now Roger. A couple of cool scenes can really influence people! I'll vote for Nami, I do like her despite a few character setbacks.
-
Come on, Nami!
While used to it, I'm still pretty damn sick of all the undeserved hate she gets everywhere. Nami's my favourite character, so it's time I start defending her.
You wanna know why you should vote for her? How about because, despite popular opinion, Nami is actually quite a different and refreshing type of girl from the OP standard. A lot of people go on about how Robin is unique for being so calm and polite and never indulging in crazy Straw Hat-ish behaviour and emotions. But if you think about it MOST of the OP girls are like this (Shackey, Miss Doublefinger, Califa, Hina, Conis, etc.) People just forget that because they aren't contrasted directly against the crew.
It's actually NAMI's type that we don't see too often: a fiesty, tempermental and aggressive girl who doesn't care for being quiet and demure. Not to mention one of the only ones that we've seen regularly giving those over-the-top silly and exaggerated expressions.
She even had the stones to give Crocodile some lip (and note, he was impressed).
Caged like rats, at the mercy of a warlord and she's still spunky as hell.
VOTE NAMI
-
Nami's my favorite character in the whole thing. We've seen next to nothing of Roger. Duh to who my vote goes to.
Hell yes to smart, sensible, strong-willed, non-romantic role women chasing their own ambitions and not taking crap from anybody for it.
-
need no vote…it`s nami for me
-
Gold Roger all the way!

It would be shame for me to see at the end of OP a pirate king who is treated like a 10 years old boy by his own crew. It would take away from his title a lot. That's a good thought, but Nami knows when to shut up. She learned back in her hometown when Luffy starts to get serious.
And she listens to his orders, even if she risks her life (which she absolutely does not like.)
Luffy's personality is pretty childish, and everyone treats him a little like they're his warden, unless he's in the mood to bring a warlord down. This is no reason for voting against her.
But I voted for the Pirate King, himself.

@Taz:

This would hold water if she didn't pick up the standard slack by out-fanservicing every other woman in OP (even the one whose very power is based on being slutty), including being in one of the most embarassing (both for the characters involved and the audience) fights in OP history. No, the most embarassing fight. No fight in this series has come close to how horrible Nami vs. Califa was. None. Cindry licked the fuggin' floor, and it still hasn't come close to how Nami's degraded over the series' run.
Nami's character has degraded to the point where she's the Straw Hats' equivalent of a fight card girl during a boxing match, now. Just stand around, look pretty, show some leg, and pretend you actually belong here and couldn't be replaced by an LED sign.
Last time we saw her, it looked like the Kuma incident traumatized her. So, fingers crossed that gives her an excuse for some gat dang character growth.
She even had the stones to give Crocodile some lip (and note, he was impressed).
Actually, he was mocking her more than anything. Particularly when she sang Luffy's praises. He just went and called her faith idiotic.

The captain IS a dork.
Why are the occasional comic thrashings Nami gives Luffy being made into such a serious issue? Have you ever seen her do that in those rare, dramatic situations where Luffy actually answers the call of captain? NO.
Besides, Luffy's crew isn't like others. The captain isn't treated with authority 24/7, particularly during peacetime. This is one of the main points of why they stand apart at all. You might as well condemn Zoro, Usopp and Sanji for their occasional roughing up of the captain while you're at it, even though it is just played for LAUGHS.
-
Thing is, she's like this ALL THE TIME. For god's sake, the bitch never lightens up. After the 50th time we hear her shriek at everyone per arc, it goes from "comedy shtick" to "god, what a bitch…"
-

I'm usually the first to pipe up about my displeasure with both the Califa and the Thriller Bark fights, and I've done a lot of bitching in other places recently about how Oda's been treating Nami, but that's the distinguishing factor for me: it's Oda's recent treatment of her that bothers me, not the character herself. Comparing how she's been treated recently with the vast majority of her appearances, and she's still got a hell of a lot more depth than a lot of other fictional ladies out there, and I'm still trying to be optimistic that Oda will quit putting her in ridiculous situations just for the sake of fanservice and get back to some real storytelling. But I can't blame her for how he's chosen to draw her the past few years, or for how lame her fights have been– that's Oda's deal.

That (on the other hand) is good point not to vote for her.
-
You can't have it both ways, though. If a character is degrading now, she sucks now. If she improves, fine, but her best days are behind her.
The Nami of old is dead. All that remains is a pair of tits with dialogue. Even the Nami of old was difficult for me to stomach back then, but now that she doesn't even have anything going for her anymore, I just plain hate her now.
-
I still don't want to see a strawhat in the final, so I guess I'm voting for Roger instead…
Hail to the king, etc.
-
Voted for the King
-
Nami is awesome. Roger was awesome.
Voting for present.

I think you're over-dramatizing this. Nami's actual personality hasn't changed from what I can tell, she's just getting less important things to do and being put in situations she's better than due to crappy writing. I don't think her character sucks now, I think the corner she's being written into sucks. I certainly don't think the Nami of old is "dead", but that's subject to personal interpretation, I suppose. Frankly, just about all of Oda's female characters have taken a dive in quality the past while and I'm really hoping it's a trend he grows out of, since one of the main reasons I read the title is because I loved how he handled women characters. If it continues, my interest will probably continue to wane, but if Nami does start to get written with her brain and personality first again, I'll be very happy. again, I don't see this as a failing on the part of the character, but rather the author.

Captain Shmeckie, I don't undestand you. Before you kept on touting Kuma's being a pimp as a reason to vote him over Nami. But do you realize the irony of what you're saying?
Nami is the DEFINITION of pimp. The rest of the Straw Hats are the hos bringing in the bread and she's there to collect. Someone has a problem with that? Pimp fist o' love!
But seriously:
This would hold water if she didn't pick up the standard slack by out-fanservicing every other woman in OP (even the one whose very power is based on being slutty), including being in one of the most embarassing (both for the characters involved and the audience) fights in OP history. While I agree the fanservicey, damsel-in-distress use of her in Thriller Bark was god awful (her low point of the series), this is not the result of a character flaw like with Usopp and the Ennies Lobby fiasco. She was freaking unconscious. If anything the plot decisions and story-telling are at fault there, not Nami's character.
As soon as she woke up, she was back to her old self. I can't think of one thing she did between that point and the Kuma incident that would give anyone cause for aggravation.
I wasn't thrilled with how Nami vs Califa was handled, but it can't be dismissed as pure fanservice. The first half, yes - that part was horrible. But the second part was quite awesome and Nami did a kickass job at working her strengths: manneuvering Califa into her lightning trap. And this was despite yet again working with a weapon that was fairly new to her.
Actually, he was mocking her more than anything. Particularly when she sang Luffy's praises. He just went and called her faith idiotic.
Of course he was mocking her faith in her Luffy. That's pure Crocodile. But he ALSO commented that she was quite fiesty. He could have said "wow, you're a STUPID girl" but no, he said fiesty. Crocodile acknowledges fire when he sees it.
-
The author controls the character, though. Whatever he writes for them becomes what they are. They're under his control, after all.
-
But how does Nami's being unconscious make her a bad character?
-
I like Nami. Now and then she is really cool. But this is THE Pirate King. Gol D. Roger! Whenever his name comes up, I get the chills!! Not many characters can do that! So GOOO Roger!! GO!
-
Seriously, I don't get this. Nami beat Kuma and now she's losing to Roger. Does that mean that Roger>Kuma?
-
@Thousand:

I think it was mostly pity for how Drake hacked.

Hell, I can go arc-by-arc here. I'm off to bed soon, so tomorrow (or later today, I should say) I'll get specific, but it only goes downhill for her. Hell, her big fight with a Baroque Works agent amounted to her getting her ass kicked, followed by a series of sight gags with the Clima Tact. She gets mo-lez-ted by Califa and conveniently loses her pants, running around in thong underwear for the rest of the Enies Loby incident. Then she gets near-raped in Thriller Bark and spends the entire arc as an unconscious damsel in distress. Her biggest role in that arc, besides getting felt up in the shower, was her moment of "oh, right, Kuma's here too." Hell, she did nothing in the SH vs. Oz fight but run and hit Oz with lightning once or twice (I mean, shit, at least Robin made a move for Moria). Her past with Hachi was waved off in the Duval arc (what did it take, all of one page for her to forgive him?! Oh, she kinda stared at him once or twice That counts), and she was practically in the background during Shabaody.
She's just been the pretty face in the background either serving to round out a small group when the SHs split up, or fade into the background and look pretty when they're all together. Not only has she not done shit, but her personality has damn near fizzled out of existance. Except, of course, her gag crap. Which is great: reduce her to nothing but screeching at everyone. That'll make her more likeable…
@Taz:
But how does Nami's being unconscious make her a bad character?
That was directed to Bevin.

I voted roger anyways.
