So Gorillaz came out with a new CD called Demon Days. Does anybody have it yet, and is it any good? Right now I'm saving up some extra cash to get it.

Ohh yeah,it's good.
Especially Feel Godd Inc. -
i'm currently saving money for it but…OMFG I LOVE THIS BAND! even if its non-existant of course. I say their music is meaningful and fun to listen to. The beat juz goes in your head and your remember it
-
I hate this band they're the worst I've ever heard! XD Joking of course!
I've already bought Demon Days and it ROCKZ! -
Demon Days is worth the price of admission, yes =)
In my opinion, this is their best album. And while I'm not a fan of rap or hip hop, the songs really grow on you. There's actually only one song on the whole album I dislike… and that's "White Light". It just... grates me. o_o The rest is pure cool. =)
I recommend getting the set that has the extra DVD in it if you're planning to buy it. The extra DVD has a pristine version of the Feel Good Inc. video, and extra song you can download from their site, and another song on the DVD itself (The Swagga... which I REALLY want an MP3 rip of...). You can also turn on commentary by the band for the video, and set up the video in "Making of" mode, which plays it out in just sketched concept panels. =)
The album is just awesome ^_^
Oh, and "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head" = gold _
-
I haven't heard much of their stuff, but I do enjoy what I have heard from them. Especially "Feel Good Inc", that's my new favourite of theirs. "19-2000" and "Clint Eastwood" are the other two I've heard from them that I think are swell. I was somewhat disappointed with the "Feel Good Inc" video though, I was kind of expecting the big blue rap guy (Names do not come….. sorry i_i) from the "Clint Eastwood"'s video to make an appearance in the new one since that's what I picture now when the rap kicks into the song.
-
You mean Del tha Funky Homosapien, the ghost that haunts Russel. He's not in Feel Good Inc.'s video because he doesn't perform on the track. Or on the album, either.
DARE is the next single, BTW.
-
Yeah, Del's no longer a contributor to Gorillaz so they had to make up a story of why he isn't possesing Russel from time to time, so they said that he was exorcised.
I love pretty much all of the tracks of Demon Days, though I don't think that White Light or All Alone would be single worthy, since it gets repetitive for most of the song.
DARE, however, should be interesting to see as a music video. Supposed to be Boogie Nights meets Wizard of Oz.
-
Those tracks are over-looped. But All Alone could work if edited properly.
-
How come no one likes All Alone or White Light? Those are two of my new faveorite Gorillaz songs. Then again, I'm a Techno/Electronica junkie, so I'm used to repetitive lyrics…
Demon Days, for me at least, is their best album so far. Though I do miss Del, Bootie Brown and De La Soul were great choices for the rap. Del couldn't have pulled that off. :P
-
Ah, I see. So who does the rap for Gorillaz now? Or is it just the ghost character itself that was removed?
-

Multiple people, actually. Bootie Brown does the rap for Dirty Harry with the chorus by San Fernandez Youth Chorus (2003-2004 season) , De La Soul helped with Feel Good, Inc., English rapper MF Doom does November has Come, Ike Turner plays the piano for Every Planet We Reach is Dead, Roots Manuva does All Alone along with Martina Topley Bird, Shaun Ryder does DARE, Dennis Hopper reads the story for Fire Coming Out of A Monkey's Head, and The London Community Gospel Choir wrap it up with Don't Get Lost in Heavan and Demon Days.
It's all in the little booklet that comes with the limited edition copy of Demon Days.
Edit: The only two permanant members of Gorillaz are Damon Alburn and Jamie Hewlett (who does the art), everyone else is listed as a contributor or is mentioned like "Featuring (insert namehere)" in the booklet. Just thought that I needed to mention that.

Ooooo… I like "Dare" a lot. We were trying to figure out what other songs could have videos made for them, and "Dare" was the one we thought would do best as a video. I'd still love a video for "Fire Coming out of the Monkey's Head"... but it's less a song, and more a grim fairy tale.. thing. But what an awesome video it would make _
I kinda think "O Green World" might be good for a video, too.. but that's a lot to do with my love of the song ^_^;
As for "White Light"... well, I can't quite explain why it bugs me so much... I guess it's because it's kinda raspy and a bit like sand paper to my ears. I like everything else though. ^_^ I actually like "All alone" a lot, even the rap part... which scares off my roomies. ... "Bounce, wiggle, bounce, wiggle..."
Oh, on "Feel Good Inc.", my fiance pointed this out to me. I guess it should have been obvious, but it didn't really click to me. At the beginning, 2-D's singing to an answering machine o.o Well, he's not in the video, but he is in the song ^_^ Because of the video, I never made the connection =) Now I can't picture that first part as anything BUT 2-D singing into a phone x.x
PS - I also love "Last Living Souls". I love the "casio beats" in it, and the sound of the song over all. I'm a big fan of "blippy beats", as Freezepop put it ^_^ This gets my electronica groove on. =)
... that, and, because of my Fiance, when 2-D (Yes, I know he's Damon...) chants "Get up, get up, get up..." I hear: "Gero gero gero...." ... damn Sgt. Frog fan...

gets on knees and bows Gorillaz have totally changed how I look at music from the first time I heard them. Personally, im more of a rock type, and was really shallow when it came to such bands like these. When I was 14 I saw the video for Clint Eastwood, and from then on I was totally hooked! I recorded the Toonami midnight special where they debuted several videos by them, and Daft "the shit" Punk. I bought the album, and listened to it for two years non stop. I was getting a bit dissapointed that they were lagging behind on the album so much. Then, maybe a month ago I saw "Feel Good Inc" on MTV 2, and almost dropped a fudge brick in my pants. The bass line in that song is about as infectios as anything without puss filled boils. Needless to say when Demon Days dropped I was the first to pick it up. It surpasses the first attempt, and aside from a couple of dissapoiting tracks im really enjoying it, especially "Dare" "Kids With Guns", and my personal favorite lyrics wise "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead". I just wish now Toonami would pull out another midnight music special with some of the new videos. Only I heard Daft Punk dropped their anime gimmick, and their on with robots, but if I can get sidetracked for a second their new album is brilliant. If you like Gorillaz you'll dig their new album. Try songs "Make Love" and "Robot Rock". Back to Toonami, I doubt if we'll ever see that again. Aside from One Piece they've really gone downhill since their glory days.

Since Toonami only runs until 10 Central, I don't think they will do that. I don't see Adult Swim running it either, the Inuyahsa fans might get pissed if they don't get their fixed. (Not to mention I would get upset if they interrupted the latest episode of Paranoia Agent.)
If you want to catch some of the Gorillaz's music videos from their debut album, Feel Good Inc, and a song not on either album, go on their website at www.gorillaz.com and go to the box office. I imagine that when DARE is finished (which it is in it's last stages of production), it will be on their site. They also have alot of games to play, 4 figures to find so you can get a discount at their store and you can poke around the rooms of KONG Studio and listen to music like Mix 2 or Happy Landfill (but you can only download that song if you get the limited edition copy of Demon Days)
On the subject of Daft Punk, the anime music videos weren't really a gimmick, I would say. Those videos of the songs from their album Discovery were used to make a movie called Interstella 5555, sort of like…a dance/rock opera directed by Leiji Matsumoto (the guy behind Captain Harlock and Space Battleship Yamato).
They are not really on robots, if you are going by their looks in the Robot Rock video, they always look like that to cover their faces in publicity shots because as they said "...we are Daft Punk and we don't need to show our faces to get on a magazine cover or sell shitloads of records."
I love Robot Rock from their latest album "Human after All" along with "The Brainwasher", "Human After All", "Steam Machine" and "Technologic". If you haven't already, go get their 1996 album, Homework, with the great song "Around the World". It's their debut album that made them famous in their homeland of Paris.
-
It's not that I wouldnt see the videos if they didn't air. I visit the website frequently, and stay up to date on their releases. It's just seeing it on the telly that gets my rock off. On the whole Daft Punk thing, i'll still say it was a gimmick, regardless if it was used for that kick-ass flick. They used it to reach an anime audience, and it worked. I find the robot thing quite funny tho.
-
Aye, I've got it a few weeks back. It's pretty good, but it has been a while since the last one. At least, as far as I remember.
Also, Feel Good Inc. is, or was, getting a ton of attention here in England. It's pretty much fantastic, though.
I'm just waiting to see what they'll do next, honestly. This whole gimmick of animated characters seems to be keeping people interested, even now.
I can't believe Daft Punk have dropped the animà stuff, tho'. That sucks.
-
Gorillaz are alright. I bought Demon Days, it's a decent album but a lot of the songs feel just generic to me. Some of which are boring to listen to.

My brother got that CD
THe best songs are
Feel Good Inc
Dare
Last Living SoulsGood CD..
-
I have to say, I honestly hate techno and rap with a passion but I can't help but love Gorillaz. They are a good band and are very underrated. The don't get the recognition they deserve but, to tell the truth, when the do start getting attention, people will start calling them sellouts. Always happens. At any rate though, they are a kickass band.
-
I'm getting the cd a day or so after my RHCP cd.
But, listening to the 30 secodns I get from amazon, made me want it abit more. And I'm getting a free comic book from what Tower said when I ordered Demon Days.:)
Feel Good Inc. is my favorite song, but its also the only song I've heard that is longer than 30 seconds.
And the funny thing is, three of my friends had heard of them before. One heard Clint Eastwood, one heard Dracula, and the other just likes how they aren't existing.-_-

Yes, Noodle is a girl. She joined the band when she was 10 by means of shipping herself to Britan in a FedEx crate.

Gorillaz Unofficial is pretty helpful – they have all of the "character" and "real" interviews.
I take back what I first said about All Alone. It isn't overlooped, I was just talking out my butt at a time when I should have been asleep.

Ok, as you might have guessed, I am a HUGE Gorillaz fan. Feel Good, Inc is my favourite song! They were the first band I ever got into and I've even nicknamed my girlfriend Noodle! Yeah, I'm obsessed…
I like Don't Get Lost In Heaven.
-
Does anyone have the vid for Feel Good Inc?
-
I'm quite a large gorillaz fan. I really do love Feel Good Inc., so I would really want to purchase the cd soon (maybe the one that comes with the extras). I especially like the idea of having cartoons as the band (the artist is brilliant at his style). It's the love…
ps. You can find clips of their music at www.gorillaz.com and go to the cinema (click map monkey XD if your not sure).
-
I revived this topic for one good reason.
You remember that DARE was going to be the new single and getting a video? Well…
[Edit: Dare video pulled from the hosting site due to lack of authorization. Wait until August when it offically comes out. -Zio 7/13/05]
It's okay, though I was hoping for more than a 14 year old girl dancing around with the giant head of Shaun Ryder (who does vocals). I was hoping for Murdoc and his talking horse (he said in an interview that the next project he wants to work on is with a talking horse), or Russell dancing around like he was Dorthoy from Wizard of Oz(he's into that kind of stuff as revealed in a Gorillaz Bite animation).
Oh well. Can't always get what I want.
-
Hahaha… well, it was okay. Lip-synch seemed a little off in places, but not bad over all. I would have liked to see more of the rest of the band, but at least we saw them at various points. Hehehe... poor Murdoc at the end there...
-
I got my CD, and loved it. And the only song I can listen too for like 20 times in a row is: DARE .
I LOOOVVEEE that song, but I don't have a clue why.
Songs I Love :
DARE
Feel Good Inc.
Kids With Guns
Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head
Last Living Souls
November Has Come -
Has anyone seen the Rock It video? God, that's weird. Song's cool, though.
-
There best video hands down has to be 19/2000. Close runner-up would be Rock The House. Feel Good Inc. is creative, but..I don't know, it's just useless. Let's not even go into Murdoc's ass-crack.
-
Hahahha!
Well, the best vid for me would be Clint Eastwood.
But Feel Good inc comes a close second.
BTW,I'm looking for downloadable vids.
And Rock It's video….creeps me out.
Blah blah blah blah blah.
BTW,isn't that girl Noodle? -
I feel like dancing whenever I hear Feel Good Inc. It's got that really funky beat.
I really want to see the video for DARE. I've heard it and loved it :D Plus I really want to see Russell's dorothy dance, ever since I watched the gorillaz newest bite.
-
Yeah,I want to see it too….DARE doesn't load completely for me....

Words of wisdom! =D
I like Feel Good Inc. a lot. I like the style and the animation, it's very pretty. 19/2000 and Clint Eastwood are cool… but Feel Good Inc is just pure awesome to me.
-
And 2-D's little gesture on aphermal…that rocks!
Feel Good Inc's my favourite song ever! Anyone seen the iPod ad with a clip from it?
-
Quick heads up, Beam.Tv, the site that provided the DARE video I posted up awhile ago pulled the video from it's site. Apparently, they didn't have authorization to show it to the public.
Those who did managed to see it, consider yourselves lucky that you saw it before most people. Those who didn't see it have to wait until it officially premeries around August.
-
Oh, sweet! I saw it! I feel so priveliged about now.
-
Awwww…...I wanted to see it so badly....
-

Well, you can see it on gorillaz.com on July 17th.
Yeah, turns out I was wrong about it being officially released in August with the CD. But I expected that since I pulled the info from the Beauru of Information Pulled Out of My Ass (or BIPOMA for short).
-
WOO!
Thanks for the info! -
Gorillaz is one of my fave bands, I like the idea of animated band and their music is so good. I just bought Demon Days and i think that it's my best CD. I like White Light, Feel Good Inc. and Kids With Guns the most, but every song is great. This new album is more versatile than their first, i think.
DARE's musicvideo is cool, i didn't know that Noodle dances so well. xD
-
Watched the video.
Poor Russel in the toilet. -
I have a copy of the leaked DARE as a .mov! I'm throwing it up on Rapidshare right now.
By the way, the only difference between the leak and the final is that the Confederate flag in Murdoc's RV is now a pirate flag.
