No,when 4Kids accept that they are losing money with One Piece and sell/give it to Funimation than Sanji should be voiced by the guy on my avatar Justin Cook and Usopp should be voiced by Bill Towsley (Shu and Elder Toguro)
The odds of 4Kids selling OP to FUNimation or any other dubbing company are slim to nill. Unless, they bomb later on(which I pray happens), because I don't think little kids want to see a show about people shooting each other with capguns and err, hammer guns. <_<
And the VA that is 100% perfect for Sanji is Jeff Nimoy(Wolfwood in Trigun). But out of all the 4Kids VA's, Frank Frankson fits him the best. Ironically enough, David Moo is the one that fits him the worst.
About the Arlong profile, COCO village?!, FISHmen?!, Nami escapes?! The edited Arlong arc is gonna be funny as hell.

You mean, the 4Kids Arlong arc is going to be TRAGIC. Funny, yes… But, ultimately, very tragic. Not dramatic mind you - tragic in that it'll be a pile of steaming horse shit rather than the excellent arc that it originally was.

Nothing makes me more angry than the fact that 4kids is leaving in the Arlong arc, knowing full well that it will not make the censors. I was so hoping that it had been cut like the first season of YGO. >_> I would rather have some crap story from Nami about why she stole the ship than sit through the suck-fest that will be the Arlong-watereddowntocrap-Arc. I think I'll go cool down now… :(

You know, that 'first season' of Yu-Gi-Oh was actually just the first attempt to make a series out of it - the animation company, voice actors, music and everything were completely different. It was themed closer to the original intent of the manga to be about someone who could win at any game, not just Duel Monsters. Dubbing it would involve getting a totally different license to that of the longer series that's about Duel Monsters and little else. It was never 'cut', just never aquired - it's a totally different animal basically.

Did anyone notice the way they pronounced Gin name. Was it pronouced like that in the original or did they pull a Lyserg Dithel on us? and yeah WHy are the Arlong pirates called Fishmen pirate, I thought that since Arlong a self center racist he would name his proud crew of Fishmen after himself? I think I'm going to laugh out loud so hard at all the dumb edits in Arlong. Hope it doesn't go as far as Skypiea.

Krieg isn't all that bad, I guess. But next episode he opens fire on the baratie, that'll be…...interesting.

Well, I kinda knew that… I just always thought that they didn't air it because it was to violent. (with the the monsters eating people and all...)

In the Japanese version his name is pronounced with a hard G and a long 'e' sound (not elongated, though), kinda like "green," only without the r.

Yep, FUNimation should've focused more on getting One Piece than Detective Conan though. I doubt another dubbing company was trying to get their hands on DC at the time anyway. FMA could've waited too since FUNi should've known that 4Kids would be rushing to get their grubby little hands on Oda's masterpiece.

hey im not sure if i just imagined it or not but i thought for a min, durring the sceen when sanji is giving gin the food, that his lollipop was smoking. <_< did anyone else catch that or am i just crazy. :blink:

4Kids might fuck up once or twice later on just like Toonami did with Saito's "toothpick" in Rurouni Kenshin.
Also, I can't wait for little kids to start holding their lollipops the way their hero, Sanji does. I'd love to see their parents reaction.

Nope, Sunji's voice is much worse than Uzoppi's. Uzoppi's, believe it or not has improved a little since his first appearence, and when I say a little , I mean very very little. It's still earshattering, just not as bad as before.

I really did not mind Zeff or Sanji's voice very much. The only problem with Sanji's voice is that it doesn't match up when he is talking to Nami. His voice is supposed to rise and there should be a big difference between how he talks to Nami versus everyone else. That aspect of the voice was not there, but I can live with the regular voice. The voice of Patty was not horrible either (although the Syrup Meatball cannon just won't sound the same). I think some of the voices kind of blended together though. Fullbody and Gin sounded nearly the same to me. Then again, my hearing is pretty poor, so I could be wrong. Still, I stand by Sanji's voice as not being as bad as Usopp's (I think his voice is more "off" than Sanji's). However, it is all okay with me. I am looking forward to getting some merchandise and the liberties they take with the series are up to 4kids. As I have heard from many people, the Arlong arc reeled in a lot of One Piece fans. I think that, even if the Arlong arc is edited up, it should still be part of the 4kids dub because it will likely jump-start a greater American fan following (which I am all for as an American).

I sort of consider the merchandise an extra payment to Oda for the subbed anime and translated mangas I read. I see the dub as a chance to get more access to this kind of merchandise and give some money back to Oda (as well as 4kids, but I can live with that). It will also make the original manga easier for me to obtain. I do see your point, Viz Hater. The market could fill up with a lot of commercial products as well as merchandise, but it doesn't cheapen the spirit of One Piece for me (it never bothered me when I was into DBZ either). I also agree with Zio that 4kids will not throw out One Piece after they just licensed it. They will likely hold onto it for quite some time and, if One Piece is licensed by another company, there is no guarantee it will be any better or worse. The product will keep pushing forward regardless of who is behind the reigns.

It only took 53 episodes for Funimation to get DBZ from Ocean. Lets pray that it will be the same for One Piece. 4Kids are known to drop stuff. Look what happened to Cubix,Ultraman Tiga, Martin Mystery and Ultimate Muscle.
