On the one hand, I'm a bit disappointed Whitebeard has a Devil Fruit, instead of just being naturally powerful. On the other, Oda chose a hell of a Fruit to keep in reserve for the man.

Not a whole lot of people care and it's been mentioned before, but I can tell you that based off of the Japanese he uses, Akainu is most likely based off of Bunta Sugawara.

Nah it's cool. For the record I never really knew about the Admiral "based-on-actor" thing going around until very recently, and even so I've only really seen it in terms of physical resemblance so I'm not sure how deep it's supposed to go. It's just that in the one blurb Akainu has in this chapter, he delivers his line much in the same Kansai/Hiroshima yakuza accent way that someone like Bunta Sugawara does in the Yakuza Papers film series. I could be totally wrong, but it's just the way I read it and understood it.
