All I know is that, according to Wikipedia, the first chapter was first serialized in the August 4, 1997 issue of Weekly Shounen Jump, but I can't find the serialization dates/issues for any later chapters. And there couldn't have been a new chapter in every single issue of the magazine since August 4, 1997 because we'd have more chapters than we do now if that were true.

As a reference, this kind of information exists for Dragon Ball, and is exactly what I'm looking for for One Piece:

Isn't there a request section in the forum? I think this thread is meant to be there.

I couldn't find a subforum like that, but I was hoping that by posting in the Manga section, someone would be able to point me in the direction of where I could find this information.

I'm still looking around myself, but I've had no luck so far…

Well, I've heard that the tankoubon include which issues of Weekly Shounen Jump the chapters were originally serialized in.

If anyone here has the tankoubon, could you help me out here? Even just the first volume for now?

            Thank you.

Tanks list which issues of JUMP each chap contained within is from. The info can be found on the front inner flap of the cover following the intro from Oda. If you're still looking for this info by September I can help you out but I'm not in the same prefecture as my tanks right now.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Well this website hasn't been updated since 2002 but it lists the issues each chapter was first printed in up to chapter 217.

OK, thanks for the help so far. Before I get to anything else, I really want to verify this:

In doing some more research, I think I might have figured out the insanity of Weekly Shounen Jump's numbering scheme:

                  • Weekly Shounen Jump is released every Monday.
                  • The week number of the issue and the date listed on the issue do not line up. The listed week number is 3 weeks ahead of the listed date.
                  • The actual street date of the issue is 2 weeks before the date listed on the issue.

So, for example, WSJ #35, 2009 is like this:

                  • The week number listed on the cover is 35 (8/31/09).
                  • The date listed on the cover is 8/10/09 (week 32).
                  • The actual street date of the issue was 7/27/09 (week 30).

If anyone else is that familiar with Weekly Shounen Jump, can you verify this?

Yeah, I can wait until September now that I have that link from King Calamari. Thanks.
