If One Piece is one of the most popular mangas in Japan then why are there so little videogames for One Piece?
Mostly its all Naruto and DBZ. Anyone know why?

Wikipedia tells me that there are a decent amount: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_One_Piece_games
They're all being hoarded in Japan. Let's liberate them.
sounds like a job for the Omega Pirates!!
bout' f*cking time you guys do something
The Grand Battle games were the only decent ones anyway.
They dont get hyped as much as Naruto and DBZ and many of them arent in english.
And onepiece game coming to psp YEAH!!.
I like their newest one. It has a shitload of stuff in it. You can't get bored with it :P
The main reason most of the games aren't brought over here is probably the fact that a lot of them were rather poorly made.

Join us so you can do stuff too.
I have GB 3, GB Rush, and Pirates Carnival and they're pretty fun. The only problem is that the Wii isn't region free (even for Gamecube games) and I'm too lazy to start up my Gamecube .
Dude I want whatever game this is to come stateside: http://bsearch.goo.ne.jp/image.php?MT=ONE+PIECE%A5%E2%A5%D0%A5%A4%A5%EB%A5%B8%A5%E3%A5%C3%A5%AF&FR=1
I see soccer, go and a sanji cooking game! I know its for mobile phone but, dammit they should port it to PSP, The King of Ports!!
And if you google that there's a fighting game with all of CP9 playable!! And Golf!! And an Usopp Shooting Gallery!! But we'll never see it over here
Japan needs to stop being faggots and share. Or at least make their games piratable for americans.
Who wants to play a fighting game on a cell phone? Not me.
Oh and to answer the OP's question, It's becasue I have yet to become a game designer/producer.
There are a lot of games but they are all old (and many are on crappy systems like the wonderswan). It's pretty bizarre when you look at the numbers for other shonen series just using today's handheld consoles (PSP and DS).
One Piece - 1 DS game
Reborn! - 9 DS games
Naruto - 12 DS games and 3 PSP games
Bleach - 4 DS games and 8 PSP games
Even an ancient series like Yu Yu Hakusho has a DS game, not to mention the insane amount of Dragon Ball games. So yeah, it's a bit ridiculous. I personally want a 2D DS fighting game with gorgeous hand-drawn graphics like the DS Reborn games.
^ Which game has all of CP9 playable? Is it Unlimited Cruise? I think there need to be more Grand Battle type games and they need to come to the US. I'd also like to see and SSB type One Piece game. Hear that Zkaiser ? And if you have a DS there's always Jump Ultimate Stars which has the entire Strawhat crew (excluding Brook since it was released before that) plus dozens of other manga series characters (that are playable, there are hundreds of characters including non playable characters).
Seastone, join my crew as Diplomat/Politition.
Edit: the cellphone game I was talking about had Blueno, Lucci and Franky. You can see a small screenshot of it on the last page of the link I posted. Bottom left.
I just want a sequel to the GBA game, with updated graphics and a Grand Battle mode.
Hm, sure, okay  .
Awright! The Megas are getting strong!
The only games I've ever enjoyed besides the Grand Battles are the american GBA game and Dragon Dream.
I only have Unlimited Adventure, I really need to snag some of the other ones DX
I had no idea there were THAT MANY games out there o.o Seriously Japan, quit being pirates.
I wouldn't say there are little. Even in English speaking countries there is:
Grand Battle (PS2/GC)
Grand Adventure (Not sure on name. Not released in UK.)
Treasure Battle (Not release in UK)
Grand Battle GBA
Unlimited Adventure (Not Released in UK.)
Unlimited Cruise part 1 (Not released in US.)
Unlimited Cruise part 2 (Oct release. No release in US.)
and Battle Spirit, JSS and JUS are all playable on the DS anyways so. Also DS and PSP One Piece games have been announced too.
From the looks of things and sales of Unlimited Adventure don't hold your breath on a US release of any OP game as long as Funi hold the licence for the dub.
Those DS and PSP games were announced back when 4kids had the license and they never materialized

We have shudder gear Spirit for DS.
But I'm sure we will have a PSP One Piece game. They're just keeping it secret. Saving the best for last.[/lies]
But seriously, Reborn!, Soul Eater, Bleach and Naruto have PSP games. REBORN! WTF.
Oo ya know what would be really be nice. Like besides Grand Battle 5 with updated characters to current arcs. Either
a game like Unlimited Battle. Basically the battle mode from unlimited, except fleshed so everyone has full movesets and we get characters missed from the Grand series. Basically a Fighting For One Piece 2 type of thing
that or what i really want is a true One Piece adventure game. Like take Unlimited Cruise, but ditch the random plot and throw in actual stuff from the series! For Example, You would start as just Luffy and start out at the beginning fighting Alvida. Then you would play through the story gathering the crew member ands other stuff, fighting villains and getting new techniques. Like I want to travel through Arabasta kingdom.
I guess it would need some episodic like stuff in order to transfer to each characters fight like in Arabasta, Skypiea, and late arcs when everyone is fighting. And some stuff would need to be cut.
OH and maybe for cutscenes, instead of using the 3D models like in Unlimited, they can do some special animation cutscenes specifically for the game. Like new animation for when they save Zoro, or for the whole march to Arlong Park.
Damn i wish i could just make this game
A shame they don't have one for 360…
I guess that wouldn't sell well enough? :getlost:
Anime doesn't sell on the 360 gaijin console.
What's that Battle Spirit game? And there's also that Battle Stadium DON, it has the Strawhat crew plus DB and Naruto characters.
Has everyone here played the GBA game? It seriously is THE BEST One Piece game ever.

Which is why I've always wondered why Naruto: Rise of a Ninja was exclusive to the 360. It's the only Naruto game I've ever been remotely interested in and it's on the one console that I really don't want.
Well no Japanese companies were making Naruto games for the 360 so I assume it was Viz who got Ubisoft to make those games for North America. Apparently they weren't released in Japan.
Still, why isn't it on the PS3?

Don't forget the PSone version of Grand Battle and the Round the Land game for PS2. IRC they were only released on the PAL region.

There you go again. What do you have against FUNimation? Also proves what you know, Namco Bandai decides the fate of OP games, not FUNi. FUNi is simply employed to do the dubbing. Namco Bandai aren't pleased with sales, so we aren't getting any. Has nothing to do with FUNi.
Has everyone here played the GBA game? It seriously is THE BEST One Piece game ever.
Yeah, I still have that game, and it really is a good game despite the 4kids' names (though "Chaser" still had his smokes). It was a very fun 2D sidescroller…such a shame it was too short. I'm still holding out for the Unlimited Cruise series to make to the states, and who knows, maybe one day they'll re-release the Grand Battle games (unchanged) on the Wii ala Pikmin and put more games onto a disc (not likely, but that's the point in being a dreamer).
It's not surprise that game was nominated as GBA platformer of the year by gamespy.
If it weren't for Astro Boy: Omega Factor it would be the best GBA platformer to be based off an anime.
There was a game called One Piece Colliseum for the Wonderswan (I use an emulator), too. It's pretty fun but I prefer the Grand Battle games. They seriously need to make another one of those.
To be serious, one possible reason that people have stopped making OP games is because One Piece is too wacky to create a game about and also the arcs are too ambiguous to center around. The best format for a One Piece game is the same as the GBA one and a 2D fighting game. Grand Battle was alright. I spent countless hours on it, but I'd rather see One Piece: Grand Battle Storm for the PS3.

Are you crazy? It just takes someone to check the list of one piece video games to realize that most of the time there were more than a couple of games released per year. Let alone the videogames, there's also stuff like One Pi (some virtual card game) for the japanese fans.
One Piece is pretty much like the Mario of the Anime franchise. You just don't see sport and party games for other series like Naruto or Bleach.
If anything I would blame Bandai for exclusively releasing OP games for the Wii and DS in the last years.
Theoretically couldn't Funimation do what they did with Dragon Ball/Z/GT and have some other developers create One Piece games for the North American market? A press release back in 2008 said Toei had given them the licensing rights to the series which included video games. I'm not saying they will or that they should, most of those DB games were utter shit, I'm just curious.
They should try to make a Dragon Ball Z Sparking (Budokai Tenkaichi) type One Piece game. I'm not sure if it would work with One Piece but it sounds cool. And I agree that the Grand Battle games are among the best OP games and that they should make more.
I just don't think OP is currently enough popular for Funi to feel secure enough to pull off such a move. At least 4kids had their dub airing on CN when the GBA platformer, the butchered Grand Battle and Grand Adventure were released.
Anime doesn't sell on the 360 gaijin console.
QFT.
But seriously I had a VERY VERY HARD TIME finding Unlimited Adventure, I had to go to 5 different Gamestops just to buy it! Can someone tell me why this game had a short production?

Besides the series not being a huge hit in the American Market, the game itself was quite mediocre.

I've seen that list years ago.
I was talking about America.
Wow, good thing I bought UA early, then . If the stupid Wii was region free I could buy the European UC but noooooooo :getlost: .

That's somehow managing to sell.
Still, why isn't it on the PS3?
Because it was designed specifically for the xbox either way it's for the best since Rise Of A Ninja & Broken Bond suck.
Idolmaster sells no matter where you put it.

I thought the game was excellent and I still haven't finished it but thanks I thought it Didnt sell well because a certain orange ninja took the US spotlight.:getlost:
You can't blame Naruto for everything especially the not so strong sales of One Piece games in the American Video Game Market.

I'm not fully putting the blame on the show though my name suggests otherwise but it's also piracy just days before Unlimited Cruise came out in Europe the Pirate Bay had the ISO already for the game.
Haha, It is irony.
