My old notebook is broken and now I have to sear for an new one. I always want to have an Apple but I don't know if buying one is that good.
Could someone give me some pros and cons.
And one question. Most Macbooks have 2 GB DDR3 Ram but notebooks already have 4 or 6GB but DDR2. Are the Macbooks that slower?
Macbooks are more expensive for lower specs.
It's really down to whether you actually have use for OSX. If not, get a notebook.

I had some shitty PC for like 4-5 years and I kept having to reformat it due to viruses and crap.
I switched over to a Macbook for school and crap a year ago. I haven't had any real problems with it. If you really want Windows, you could always use Bootcamp on a Mac. Like Darkstorm said, them Mac's are pretty pricey.
I had a G4 back then but i always had problems in finding softare for Mac Os X 10.3 (since 10.4 came out a few months after i bought my notebook) and if you want to get the good software you have to pay a lot of money. It's really expensive….

well just for music, videos, internet and communcation. A bit office for my work too
I'd go with a notebook then. You'll get significantly more power for your money. A macbook is only really worth it if there's something it's specifically better in that you do, but Windows is equal in those fields.
One thing to note is you don't want to use vista, so either downgrade to XP, or get one with a free upgrade to Win 7(this offer begins in july).
Win 7 is better then vista and arrives in october.

i have a macbook and i haven't had any problems with viruses or anything like that ever, my system has never crashed on me and overall pretty reliable though it is definitely more expensive than a pc but imo worth it. just make sure to buy an external hard drive so IF anything happens you're safe.
it really does depend on what you use a computer for, if you're a multimedia person then mac is the way to go. you can also get windows for mac now if you'd like and theres free software online http://www.opensourcemac.org/

The amusing thing is that the more popular macs become, the less secure they'll be.
My sister just got a new Macbook and she loves it; she had a Dell before and it had a hard time just opening two different program at once. She's thrilled now that she can have the Internet and Adobe Photoshop open at the same time, it's fast, reliable, and she hasn't had any problems so far, not even a virus.

What dell was it? Did the machine had enough ram? What macbook does she have now? It's probably a new machine with much more power and memory? And she probably bought photoshop?
Mac OS X 10.3 crashed. But i have to admit that windows crashes more often

Must have been a weak or badly maintained notebook then. I use dell laptops at work all the time, and that's not an issue.
I'll go for a windows.
A HP Pavillion dv5 1220 is a great notebook, and not that expensive. Some shops here have him for 650 Euros.

It had huge advantages in the nineties, but to be honest I'm not sure if they really exist anymore. Certainly windows is far better then once it was. But most people in the publishing & design industry still use them, perhaps out of habit, so you'd probably get better help from fellow graphic designers.

Huh? There are notebooks in various colours, it depends where you buy it from. Get a reputable german pc magazine, I assume you guys have the large magazines 50% full of adverts from pc manufacturers? Then visit their websites and see what they offer.
Some manufacturers like dell will also do various colours for each model.

None really anymore. Windows has more or less caught up in the software department. It really mostly just comes down to preference.

- Graphic card (the type, how much memory it has etc…)
- Screen resolution
- screen type (glare or matt or...)
- The processor
- The processor caches
- Front side bus
- the wireless devices (well wlan bluetooth or infrared?)
- really really important how good the battery.
- The weight of the laptop
- The ram (memory)
- the different ports you can have: firewire, vga, usb, etc...
