YEEEEEES! I CAN HAS 405 NOW!
spooge spooge spooge spooge
THANK YOOOOOOOOU!
EDIT: And then disappointment…
-
Now all they need to do is release the .avi file so I can convert it and put it on my ipods. (120gb with ever other ep on it) (and my touch as well it's a rather "big" ep)
-
thnak man….......
-
Thx again, have been waiting for this. Just keep your Haki (
) and with it the quality of your subs (though I'm still using SD, my PC can't handle HD…).
-
Hm. Did the anime alter Kuma's final line? Every translation I've seen of the manga has him saying how they, Luffy and himself, will never meet again, while here he syas that he'll never see his crew again. Definitely makes him come off as more sinister. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, as the dialogue did get shuffled around a bit between manga and anime.
Anyway, great job, and maybe it was just due to me wiping down my laptop's screen, but the picture quality seemed the sharpest it's been yet.

Yeah, I'd like to get confirmation on that too. It's not exactly a minor line. Though I fear Desiboy might not come online for a week.
edit:
@Roy:
Nobody fucked up Bloody Nine, its simply the way Kuma said it in Japanese is ambiguous to whether or not he implied that he meant he, Kuma was never going to meet again, or the Straw Hats. He directly says:
Mou midoto au koto wa nai.
This just means, "You will not meet them/me a second time" So it is basically abit of a mystery to whether he meant himself, or the Straw Hats, and I think its meant to be up to the reader to decide what he meant.
So don't blame Yibis or the Anime team
Literally a "second" time would imply not meeting Kuma again though, no?

It's exactly like Roy Flame Alchemist said, Kuma never actually specifies who he's referring to in the Japanese dialogue, so both cases can work. I simply thought it made more sense for him to be referring to the Straw Hats.

Not really. Robin said the exact same thing back in Water 7.

That's weird. I thought even for anime only guys it's obvious Kuma was helping the SHs, and even more so for manga readers like you so why would he say that? An interesting point though was made by someone on IRC who said even if we knew Kuma wasn't a threat Luffy didn't.
-
Thanks guys. But I need to confirm something, what's with "You will never see THEM again" ?
Edit: Forgot to refresh the page. Nevermind.
I guess it's just a mystery…As expected from Oda. -
Yeah I confused about that when translating the episode too. But it looked like Kuma was helping the Strawhats, with all that sinister talking he did with Rayleigh, and not telling Kizaru what it was. So I figured he meant that he and Luffy wouldn't meet again, instead of Luffy not meeting his crew again.
Still, it remains a mystery…
-
An ambiguous line for an ambiguous (not in the Mr. 2 way) character then, I suppose.
Thanks for all that info. Deepens the mystery.
-
Well, i think "We'll never meet again. Farewell" makes more sense than "You'll never meet them again, farewell", but who knows.
Weirdly enough, i don't remember this ever being discussed when chapter 513 came out. -
You could just go the vague route and say "there will not be another meeting."
"You won't meet again" or something…
Or the really vague route and write "Mou nido to aukoto wa nai."
Or even vaguer "もう二度と会うことはない"
Let them draw their own conclusions.Though acutally, the general rule for Japanese is "if there's no subject, the speaker is refering to himself" which is why all the people wrote "we" in the manga.
Speaking of which I think you guys have been writing "ha" and "he" as speaking particles in your karaoke even though they're pronounced "wa" and "e", theyr'e just written with the "ha" and "he" characters in Japanese, though they're pronoucned differently, so it should reflect that in the romanji.
-
Yes i came here to said the same thing, kuma said: You will never see ME again, is a VERY IMPORTANT LINE is there any patch or something to fix that?
-
You can have one from me on IRC.
/me flees from Vegard
-
Personally, in a situation like this, I'd personally go with "There won't be a second meeting" or something. Though I see how it can be weird.
-
Finally was able to watch it today. Great job on the episode, especially with the flashback translations.
-
the guy who animated 13:00 - 17:00 is incredible. The whole series should look like that, not the stiff Toei crap that is usually aired. If every episode were animated like those four minutes, the anime would be infinitely better. It looks like movie 6.
-
This episode had too much whiny emo, and not enough epic loss emo.
I'd have to agree with Vegard's translation, for the one line that everyone's been talking about, though. The anime made Kuma's parting words seem much more sinister than the manga let on. However, plotwise, the translation that Luffy will never see Kuma again makes more sense, since Kuma WAS saving the crew from certain obliteration by Kizaru.
-
I guess we'll see, depending where the manga goes, if he ever meets Kuma again…

does anyone else have probs with playing the 404 and 405 avi versions? i've got continues mini-freeze ups in sound (and video, don't remeber) every 10 or 15 seconds. could be my pcs performance but i've had no probs at all with all the previous avi versions of yibis.
