Over a year ago, I discovered this streaming video on a site (which I forget the name of), and posted the link on Arlong Park. Thanks to dythim for hosting this.
This is the original opening, the one we all kind of pissed but could never imagine how bad the alternative was. :P
Happy downloading.

I thought I posted it o.o
Ah, nothing can beat, "Gotta find a crew, and then work them to the bone" sung in a happy melody.
-
shudders
The worst thing is how much better I find that than the production 4kids opening.
cries -
:o I am going to make a mp3 with it XD

<<
and serve it on my fserver ONE PIECE!!!!!!!! o.o -
Give us credit then :o

Wow, after watching that, I feel somewhat relieved that they did the rap on their own. I couldn't stand to see We Are! totally get butchered on television..
-
I actually liked that.
"I've always believed it is my destiny to be the greatest pirate the world has ever seen!"
My favorite lyric.
-
What the hell? Who made that?
-
That is what 4kids showed at the New York Licensing Show last year.
-
they translated it completly to english huh?
-
No, they made their own lyrics up.
-
oh, i juz watch the clip. They murdered it…beyond recognition. thank god they did not use it
-
They didn't translate it, they just made their own lyrics & attached it to 'We Are'. Which I thought was fairly serviceable at the time.
-
Personally I'd take anything over what they have now >.>
-
hey its not that bad.
maybe 4kids will put this on their one piece dvds…..or is that wishful thinking?
-
That was waaayyyy much better than what they have now.
-
You know how most live-action DVDs now have an extra screen of out-takes and errors? And how some cartoons (like the Pixar productions) sometimes make "psuedo" outtakes?
I think it might be possible that OP on DVD would be the first cartoon with real outtakes. I can see the highly sliced Usopp-Chu battle being interfered with when the VA suddenly blurts "where are the other three pages of script?"
-
Like the others, I'd rather have that than the rap. For the cut DVD's, have that as the intro, and for the uncut, have the original '_' b
You all remember that Kahn interview at Anime News Network?
**At a licensing convention last year, where 4Kids revealed a first look at One Piece, a version of the Japanese opening with English vocals was played. However, 4Kids used an original rap opening in the broadcast version. What made you consider this opening over the other one?
Yeah, well.. we liked it, we thought it was good. And we thought it was going to be something that'd have a lot of popularity. There wasn't anything more to it than that.**
-
Really? - It wasn't so bad. At least it was the original opening, and all.
I kinda' liked the cheesy "ONE HOPE, ONE DREAM, ONE DAYYY~" bit, too. Maybe because I'm half awake…
-
I actually saved that when it first came out ^^ …
-
Me too Solar.
"Work them to the bone" beats "Yo ho ho, he took a bite o' gum gum" anyday.
-
I'd take that over that rap opening any day. At least it only made me twitch a little… the rap... well, let's just say I'm not a fan. ._.

Word, i just downloaded a episode of the dub yesterday and my ears began to bleed, Sanjis voice is the worst ever, and a shame that they edited Usopps battle with Chu when he did his Usopp Hamma!^^
-
mm both the rap and we are!!(not version) are horrible…
they shoulda juz stayed with the original....
btw i dont watch the dubbed but what is the ending?? is it memories in jap or something totally stupid again...
-
There really is no ending. :P
-
This is pretty good, especially the intro speech
-
it's sad really. They could have used this instead of "ONE PIECE MUTHA FUGGA" but they chose…the rap. I couldn't make out everything but it's so much better.
-
I gotta say, I liked this much better then that god-awful rap they chose. It looked like they used most of the original opening animation too. Now if they wanted to keep One Piece "untouched for the fans" as they said(or lied), they should have gone with this.
-
I always thought this was pretty good, myself.
-
i have yet to hear the rap verison of the OP opening and i dont think i want to… i heard "we are" english, the lyrics seem kinda corny compared to the Jap version and the Jap singers just have that extra touch where it sounds totally awesome.
-
I like this version, it reminds me of the Japanese one because I can't figure out what the lyrics are.
-
Argh.. They SO should have used that instead of their 4Shame rap thing… (even though it was not very good...)
-
At least this is better than the 4Kids version, dude…
-
Love it! ^_^
-
this song was so awesome. way better than the rap. hopefully they'll do something like that if they get believe. awe man i wish they would have done this insted.
-
I'll take the original japanese opening music over 4kids shitty rp version anyday. God bless you RoboBlue.
-
That was alot better than that crappy rap song they have know. I'd wish they'd kept that one instead. At least it RESEMBLES "We Are!". I also liked the cheesy lyrics they made up for it. Heh; I'm such a sucker for "cheese". :P
-
Wow! You know it really isn't that bad. What in the world possessed 4Kids to use the infamous OP Rap rather than that, which in my opinion is at least an attempt to stay a little more true to the Japanese version?
-
I like that dubbed opening, it's not bad at all, it's still the same song, just new lyrics and singers. And those lyrics aren't so stupid after all.
But since i'm stupid I like that rap also, it's kinda funny. xD
-
What's that? We Are! English Version or something.
-
I prefer the rap. That one sounds like one of those overly-happy disney groups are singing it.
-
The rap is extremely catchy. This is a good or a bad thing, depending on how you feel about it.
However, it's also virtually nonmemorable in its original form.
It would be interesting to have a rap-off at a con, see how badly we butcher the butcher. :giggle:
"Dreaming! Don't give it up (Sanji, Arlong, or any of many characters not in the original lyrics)!"
"He took a bite of Dumb Gum" (I thought that's what it said, cos I missed the exposition of the devil fruits) -
I have to say that wasn't that good.
