Yep we all know that the One Piece dub is'nt good and that there is alot of fans that hate it. Well let's say the dub continues to get worse. What are you guys gonna do? It does'nt bother me to see the dub, plus the edits are funny so I'll continue watching. But I wanna hear what you guys plan to do with the dub. Continue watching it? Or stay far away from it.

some of the edits are hilariously stoopid and make me laugh. while others just piss me the hell off. so i guess if it keeps getting worse, i'll still watch so i can make fun of it :P.
-
So far, I've only seen maybe 10 episodes of it, and as it is, I'll never watch it again. So, I'll have to go with the same thing I'm going with now…
-
For me, well, I'll have to suck it up 'cause who else is gonna tell the world what kind of edits are being made! … hard to force myself to watch. cries in her little corner
(When I wanted to know about the dub in the past, no one would help me, lol :()
Me, well, being curious about what they do, might as well just take a peek until the series gets dropped or something. Although, I think it's bad for the heart :P
I.. just don't want anymore screeching..... x_X;.... KO's dubby Hachi and Usopp for their screechyness
And puns, I no like puns.

Uh huh. Sure, I've heard that before. Not to get on your bad side but plenty of you said you will stop watching the dub and end up watching the next episode anyways.
…But if you do what you say (that would be a first <_< ) Then finnally we got someone who sticks to their word.
-
Realize that there is nothing I can do about it but bitch.
-
My curiosity will/does get the better of me. So I just watch every so often, like once every 3 weeks to see where they are. Though when I do watch I laugh my ass off because of the edits. Next Episode I plan to watch is to see how in the world they're going to finish off the Arlong arc. I only watch for certain episodes because of the edits. That and I take mental notes so I can explain everything to my friend's little brother of what truly happens. MWA HA HA I'm corrupting little children by telling them what they're missing.
-
The only thing that REALLY bugs me is the damn episode merging. Everything else done to the series I just laugh at. And when the OCCACIONAL good dub episode comes along, I enjoy it. I'm already used to all of the voices (Yep, even Sanji's unfortianatly) But we might as well let the kiddies have 4Kids version of One Piece and we'll stick to our subs. And to those who can't download subs but hate the 4Kids version, I guess you'll just have to wait for uncut dvd's, but knowing 4Kids….Heh!

That was because of the "U NOT GONE BLEEV DIS!1!1!!" factor. I'm seriously done, now.
-
I just hope they pull it asap. It is really ruining the good name of one piece and I'm truly against what they've done to it!
-
Um… that last episode covered an entire manga volume. How much worse could it possibly get?
-
It's just not worth my time anymore, and hasn't been for a while. I doubt I'll ever start watching it again unless a new dub group picks it up. The manga's better imo anyway.
-
Right now, since I'm unwilling to break down and buy $150 worth of books or spend 300 hours per week trying to download fansubs or scanlations, my choice is pretty much to keep dealing with what's been handed me. At least AP can keep me honest on the storyline.
-
One Piece is 4Kids propertie now. Just like Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh and all there other shows. We gotta accept the fact that this is it, the One Piece dub. And if it's even doing remotely good it's gonna stay. Yeah we can say One Piece is screwed in the U.S, but then again so is mostly every anime 4Kids aqquires so it's not a new thing. I just say "Yep, another bad dub they've done. NEXT!
-
I will continue to watch it just because I have nothing better to do. Every week it's like a brand new chance to see what will get edited next. I don't like the fact that they edit it but I still want to see what crazy shit they're gonna pull next over at 4kids.
-
i doubt it's even that popular, even the targeted audience must find it annoying. Maybe they should put at the end of the epsiode "for the original, quality version go to..etc" lol, you never know.
-
Does anyone actually think it's NOT going to continue to be bad? I think it WILL continue to get worse.
For me, well, I'll have to suck it up 'cause who else is gonna tell the world what kind of edits are being made! … hard to force myself to watch. cries in her little corner
Yeah, that's me too. :P I have to watch so I can go tell the people who can't watch the subs what they missed and make clips.

**You don't have to, you choose to. Eventually no ones gonna give a damn as the 4Kids dub continues. I think people will just get tired of bashing it. I garrantie you by the time the dub gets to it's 100th episode or what not no ones gonna complain as much as we did in the beggining, even if it gets worse.
-
If the dub continues to be bad I'm going to hope that the original fans realize that 4kids is doing everything they can to make their version of One Piece appeal to their target audience, not us. We already have the original, why do we need the dub? In my opinion no english va can compare to the original japanese vas. And all these edits and added puns are needed to keep the childrens interest. If One Piece was shown going by its original pace i'm sure kids would get bored right away. No matter how bad it gets, I'm hoping 4kids continues to push One Piece and expand it's fanbase to the kids in america. And when these kids grow up and mature (and learn to read), I hope they somehow stumble upon KFs site and experience what One Piece is about all over again.

OMG…really?? What an epiphany.

**Well all I know is that the Yu-gi-oh fans barely complain anymore about it's dub. They kinda just accepted it already or don't care about it. And while alot of people will say that the One Piece dub is worse it's only a matter of time that we will get tired of bashing it too. I mean I doubt we'll be hearing complaints about Sanji's voice after the 200th episode. It's been too long. And if there still is well then that's something else, complaining forever. Kinda funny. :D
-
"Accepting" the dub or "giving up on it" are two distinctly different things. Just because some of us cease to complain, in any shape or form, doesn't mean what's happening is right… or if it's any better.
After watching about five minutes of last week's episode, the Usopp fight, I've quit the dub in disgust. Having heard that that ONE episode covered some eight or so chapters? Nuh-uh. I'm not even going to bother watching anymore. I'll stick to the second-hand war stories, thank you.
... Really. I'm a bit bewildered that you can't seem to drop this, Roman. I doubt you'll change anyone's mind, and I doubt that we'll change yours. I think you ought to just stop with the complaining about us complaining; all it does is foster bad will. But--I'm by no means the be-all, end-all of such matters, and I can't stop you... But it would be nice to go through one episode without you attacking us for vocalizing our opinions.
Again I state: Opinions. That's all the heaviness that our words of combativeness carry. Please, everyone... Wouldn't it be best to lay aside our animosity and to not battle each other every single time a new episode comes out?
... I'm done. Sorry for the rant.
-
I think people will just get tired of bashing it.
You don't know me very well do you?
I'll continue to watch the dub. It's the only saturday morning cartoon I watch anymore. With $kids you don't really know what to expect really. You know they won't just cut the scene, they'll EDIT the scene and what I get out of it is a weirdcrazy One Piece parody. xD
Exept for Dubsopp. They edited him so bad that he's not even funny anymore.
-
I'm just saying that as the dub continues, people will complain about it less, either if people stop watching it or get tired of bashing it. Of course there's always gonna be people complaining about it. I'm just saying that the number is going to get less and less the further the dub gets along. I'm not saying hate for it will decrese, I'm saying complaints on forums are going to get less.
-
I have not watched the dub for two weeks(woke up late), I don't think I'll watch anymore dub because of their habit of marging episode. Theofore I'll just read the Manga or wait for them to release uncut and unedit DVD. I don't like bashing the dub, it waste my time and if I complian it'll make me look childlish, if you want to watch the dub that's you'r chose, there is nothing I can do with the dub. I've been waiting for the dub to get better but ever since they marged the Bellemare episode I lost my whole trust for them. Children is what 4kids is aiming at and that's why they are release uncut and unedit for us fans. I'm done with the dub.
-
I attempted to watch an episode a couple of weeks ago and quit after ten minutes in. I just can't stand to watch the dub at all. I'll probably make another attempt when Chopper is introduced, if just because I'm curious to what they're going to with his voice.
-
Well besides Kirby, this is the only show I watch on 4Kidstv. I don't like their other shows. Even if the dub is bad.
-
poor OP :(

Except that problem remains that kids that watch Spongebob Squarepants even think that the One Piece dub is just plain stupid. I really can't see the One Piece dub creating a newfound fanbase much less even being half as successful as One Piece was in Japan.
The fact remains that there are dozens of other shows more suited for 4kids that would require a helluva lot less editing and changes than One Piece. But of course they go after one of the most succesful products from Japan instead of actually putting some real thought into the fact that this isn't the type of show they can smoothly deal with.
I now and will always continue to not watch the dub. For anyone who thinks that they have to watch the dubbed piece of crap to know what edits were made, go to opguide.bravehost.com, especially that the person who list out all the edits most likely has noticed more changes to it than you have.
While One Piece is barely having any ratings whatsoever and there being an obvious lack of merchandising , one can't help but see that this business venture is most likely to fail then succeed. It's most likely that 4kids will lead to One Piece having an even harder time of gaining widespread popularity in the US then actually increasing it.
At least with the liscensing of Naruto, Viz is showing off a more competent business plan in mind since they have already even set up the organization of distributing games and even fashion and accesories associated with Naruto. While the amount of activity from 4kids has only seem to be on the level of a dead fish.

I tried watching it, and I even didn't mind it for the first few episodes, nor was it that big of a deal that they made my Mohji-kins talk like an old man with a fake british accent. But I kept catching a few episodes here and there when I woke up in time to watch them and I just…couldn't watch them anymore. Last sunday, I tried watching it because I love the Usopp/Chuu battle, but...I had to turn my TV off because it got so freakin' annoying. Chuu's voice = THE worst dub voice I think I have ever heard in my entire life. He sounds so generic and nothing at all like the original seiyuu, who did the deep, bishounen yet at times effeminite voice PERFECTLY. I just cringe every time I see the dub and it keeps getting worse and worse.
Not to mention any of the emotional scenes have been brutally massacred.
-
Yeah it's pretty sad how One Piece is doing right now in ratings. I work part time at a daycare and sometimes I ask the kids what their favorite saturday morning cartoon is. Not one has mentioned One Piece. I try to get them interested by giving them character pictures to color, but they never ask about the show. And they always end up coloring just the chopper pictures cause he's "cute". Hopefully when the card and video game come out more kids will get into it. It's funny, I've had kids come in with pokemon/yugioh cards and they never know how to play. They just like looking at the pictures
-
Though it isn't the release of a card or videogame that automatically creates popularity for a brand name. I can definently say that the Pokemon and Yugioh has the number of sales they had from simply having the anime. Too bad though that such shows are just too obviously long, extended commercials for a product than actually a well written story, especially with Pokemon's repitition.
While One Piece is of a whole different nature when compared to such shows which is the problem.
My suggestion to 4kids for a liscense instead of One Piece would be Beet the Vandel Buster. It definently wouldn't require as much editing and it would most likely appeal to their targeted audience. The show doesn't have any blood among the other things that have been constantly edited from One Piece.
-
i would continue to watch it and support it because that is just the kind of one piece fan i am
and of course i would watch it to get some laughs on sad days
-
I'd grab my trustworthy hammer-gun and poison suction launcher and run straight into their office and send them all to the next dimension.
-
One Piece is doing pretty good now on Toonami. Mind you it's not Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh big but I rather it not reach that level of popularity because then it just becomes a fad that kids want everything. Then people will just say "Oh, another pokemon like show fad, damn Japanese." I'd prefer it to become popular enough to stay on air but not blow up into a big fad.

Oh God. You just made me think of the worst thing that could ever possibly happen EVER.
My little 3-year old cousin loves playing GB: Rush with me. And he always plays as Chopper.
If he gets hooked on the crap-dub I'll have to genetically disown him. Or teach him the ways of the awesome.Me: Now, Paul, you know how they said that Dr. Hilruk fell asleep forever after he made his touching speech?
Cousin: Yeah! He'sa vurry sleepy man!
Me: Yeah, that's great. He didn't actually fall asleep. He died. A horrible, horrible death. And he killed everyone around him when he tried to cure them.
Cousin: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO![/horrible scenario]
Anyway, that made me think - maybe Chopper is the REASON that 4Kids took OP? He's tiny, cute, and has "Pokemon" written all over him. Next thing you know they'll make him end every sentence in "Chopper!" or "Tony!"

I agree with you, RM.
I like to know where everyone is getting these ratings numbers? If the ratings are so bad, One Piece would've been taken off the air by now and Cartoon Network wouldn't be heavily promoting it.
I think the bottom line to the success of One Piece is whether the audience likes it or not. Not every anime series become a monster hit. There has been a lot of failures too.

I've hardly watched the dub. I watched a few eps when it was first released in the UK but I couldn't stomach them and stopped. Haven't really watched any since.

I wonder if they have a sign on the door which says "No smoking: Please extinguish all lollipops before entry."
