"Lance-HorribleSubs" is a "group" that steals videos off Crunchyroll and other sites just to piss them off. They hacked into the Funi website and stole it before it was even released in Japan, and illegally distributed it, just to piss of Funi, and not because they were fans. And the subs were done by people who did it for their job and to earn money, something that won't happen right now because of these jerks.
I don't think you should thank the group, since they're basically stealing, and if you have the episode, you should probably get rid of it (since it's crud quality picture-wise anyway,) and wait for a fansub group to translate it, ironic as that statement is.

They didn't hack, but they are largely responsible for the distribution and they are assholes.
