How did I miss this thread? I heard about this and I'm hoping it will be awesome. Even if it was just rereleasing it for the 360, I would still buy it for lack of a PC to play the original on anymore.
I've got a Mac. I would use that if I hadn't lost my copy as well… Though I could, in theory, find it for download, somewhere.
Either way, I'm sure the special edition will be worth buying, if to promote LucasFilm rereleases.

Could someone at lucasarts, after 10 years, finally have gotten a clue?
oh, and Wolfwood & Tizoc, turns out you don't need a 360, looking at the lucasarts website, it also says "PC digital download"!
At first I wasn't that excited but since it's a full remake I'm buying. If this will do well then perhaps they will remake other Money Island games too.

I have a Mac too, but I use boot camp for any PC needs such as this. Boot Camp worked fine for Sam and Max as well as Wallace and Grommit. I pre-ordered it right away. I am so excited. I'm hoping for a return of insult sword-fighting in the 5-part series. There might be a special bonus for those who play through each chapter.

I can do that sort of thing with the Mac I'm using now (the other died). It's got Parallels on it, which isn't the best, but it can play Grim Fandango, so I'm happy.
I loved that game. Especially when you battle Domino on the Submarine. I also really liked Glottis. Heck, the whole cast was excellent, and the story really drew me in. (But for some reason, it doesn't play well on Boot Camp…Like it's playing too fast.)
But we finally have the Monkey Island 5(ish) coming out. remember that April Fools day joke with the return of Largo LeGrande. I tried to find it to commemorate this glorious day, but couldn't.
I've got graphical issues with Grim Fandango on mine, which are annoying and block a lot of the view during gameplay, but conversations and cutscenes remain intact. Very stylish game with some hilarious puzzles (trying to get strip-searched to borrow a metal detector, distributing communist literature to union workers to insight rebellion and get their tools, trying to find a gun to gain the trust of someone (Meche) who thinks you're hiding one, etc…). Oh, man, I ned to play it again when summer starts, haha.
For your speed problem, I don't know if it will work, but try this.
And whatever did become of Largo? He went from supposed main antagonist to relatively minor character within one third of a game, haha.

Well, at least now the the contract to the voodoo lady will be fulfilled. Her unbreakable 5 game contract with Lucas Arts that is… Perhaps she cursed the people at LucasArts, and they made the game to end the curse. But whatever the case, I thank Telltale games. I ordered this as soon as I was able.

The point is the MI games are degrading with each new installment. People are still debating if LcR is worse than CMI, but I think most still hold the Gilbert games in the highest esteem.
I never played EMI. The 3D was too fugly for me even when I was 13 years old, and it certainly doesn't look better. Yes, I can see some improvements in TMI but not in the character design department, where things look worse.
Also, that 3D looks worse than PC ports of old 1990's games I played like Turok and Croc. 10 years since Grim Fandango and all LucasArts can manage are such paltry graphics? Rogue Squadron looked far better than X-Wing, I don't see why MI5 has to look so terrible.

Except it's not being made by Lucasarts. It's being made by a tiny company with nowhere near the budget of Lucasarts, and for whom this represents by far and away their best work.
First chapter is out. And is rather good. The only sore point so far is the "virtual joystick" control method.
Just finished the 1st episode i thought it was awsome!
Story was great, control scheme is a bit annoying its basically Grim Fandango's but you still have to point and click but you get used to it!

Yeah, the shortness (that will be solved when the 5 chapters are out) and the movement (that can be done with the keyboard) are the weak points. Maybe it was a bit on the easy side.. I only got stuck once and I managed to find my way just when I turned on the hint system I figured it out.
I can't say anything about grapics and sound because my computer barely managed to run the game, but is a graphic adventure, if the characters can convey emotion and the envoiroments are interesting, it is enough with the graphics.
