I think the title explains it all…
If there is anyone here, could someone tell me how to give images a transparent effect? I tried using the help feature, but it didn't help that much.

try to change the opacity of the picture
Tried it, but it didn't work.
See if there's a control in the create-a-new-image dialogue to make "transparent" the initial blank image. I know in the GIMP, you can pick between "transparent", "foreground", and "background" filled blank canvases, and one other I forget.
I don't do PS tho, so I can't certify it's how it works there.
It was such a long time ago I did it, that I don't remember.
Paint Shop Pro is the only program I know how to use. I will start learning how to use Photoshop as soon as I get a tutor.
I have PS Pro 9. I suck at it though…
I went from PSP 7 to PSP 9. Because PSP 8 just sucked too much.
its all the same thing really. different interface (sorta).
transparancy you hav to erase everything til you get to the bottom of the canvas (which is nothing) and it'll show some black and white squares or something to indicate there is nothing filling that area.
you can also do this by using opacity, which gives a semitransparent look.
and most importantly, if your using this for you sig or whatnot, you almost HAVE TO SAVE AS A .PNG.
jpeg and gif doesnt support transparency.
hope that helps =D
