@Kuminator:
RuNa didn't say anything about the DS Games, she said remember 'How RUBY & SAPPHIRE got rid of 'all the things from GOLD & SILVER.''
I brought up the DS games to point out that they're clearly still there at that point. That and I brought up several things within the games that were not removed.
@Kuminator:
Perhaps your dislike is for Remakes in general as opposed to simply Gold & Silver.
Yeah, because I totally hate remakes. Never mind the fact that I love FireRed and LeafGreen, as well as the fact that I bought Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum. e_e
@RuNa:
Also, Gold and Silver had operated in real-life time and used days of the week to determine where certain characters and events were located. Ruby and Sapphire did not.
Forgot about the days, but the games still indeed operate by time. Otherwise, berries wouldn't grow and Eevee would not evolve into Espeon or Umbreon in RuSa (which wasn't possible to do in FRLG).
@RuNa:
Also, Ruby and Sapphire were initially missing half of the pokemon from the previous series.
Not gonna deny that RuSa were the worst generation, however, the attempt was to make it so that it seemed like a new land where several Pokemon who are native to one land are never seen around the parts of Hoenn (which is pretty much like real life; some animals are just not found at all in several places). This was easily remedied by FRLG, Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness (as well as Emerald).
@Green_vs_Red:
I liked the Fun Piece version better =P
Didn't wanna go overboard like my version there. :P
@Green_vs_Red:
Pretty sure it's more just him not being too fond of Gold & Silver.
Close. More among the lines of me being slightly irked over people going batshit insane over something that really isn't as good as they remember it to be. And any time I try to point out there's nostalgia in their eyes, I get a ton of crap over it as if I supposedly hate them.
GS was fun, but it wasn't as good as everyone makes it out to be.
@Palochka:
Another thing with every series after Gold and Silver (besides the many points that have already been brought up) was the fact that LEGENDARIES TOOK UP 15% OF THE NEW POKEMON SLOTS. Legendaries are UNUSABLE for any serious trainer
Before you go any further, I must address this. Not to offend you or anything…but you're talking about a video game aimed for children, which is from a children's franchise.
Pokemon is not exactly as serious business as the competitive community wants people to believe.
@Palochka:
It's basically fanservice.
Because Pokemon is pretty much designed with kids in mind. Kids like the idea of having all-powerful Pokemon to capture.
@Palochka:
And R/S introduced Pokemon contests, not a step in the right direction, but not horrible.
It added more to do in the game aside from your rinse and repeat style of catch Pokemon, raise Pokemon in battles.
@Palochka:
made contests completely worthless
Contests never actually added anything to the story. They're only worthless to those who opt not to actually take part of them and feel the only thing one should do in the game is catch and battle Pokemon. There are people who do actually like having several things to do with their Pokemon.
@Palochka:
and added so many legendaries that they lost their poignancy. Legends being one-of-a-kind is an important factor to Pokemon games and when there's so many they begin to just seem like overpowered Pokemon that are useless in competitive tournaments.
Except, they are still one of a kind within your own game. You can't obtain more than one normally. And a good chunk of them are actually pretty damn weak.
Also, quite a number of them are easy to get around. Might I also note that there are a good chunk of overpowered REGULAR Pokemon? Most notably the Dragons, Tyranitar, Blissey, Wobbuffet and so forth? EVERYTHING can be defeated. Even Arceus.
But that's besides the point, mainly because Pokemon is actually more than just battling. GASP It's a video game targeted for kids to give them several things to do other than battle competitively. You're obviously looking at the games from the perspective of "What can I use effectively in tournaments?"
@Palochka:
The berries are a waste of time
Nevermind the fact that GS introduced berries and people used those as a method of winning in battles.
