Powerup Predictions and Discussion

The Mugiwara tend to grow/power up after every major fight. Some simply add a bit of smarts/versatility to their method of fighting while others add whole new moves. And i think after the fight against Moria, all of them will be itching with the desire to improve in order to prevent a repeat of events.

However, i have to ask whether Luffy's desire will be hindered. i.e. will he not think as hard about powering up based on that fight as he would've done based on the fight against Aokiji. Especially considering that he not only had a victory but he also (as far as he knows) escaped the fight unscathed.

In contrast you look at Zoro and Sanji. The last two concious and you have to think that right now. They're beating themselves up over their inability to protect the crew. I think less-so for Zoro as he took the damage but in a way, i think he'll want to get to a level where by he'll want to be able to take that damage any time and even prevent Luffy from ever getting that damaged.

Would it be wrong to speculate that the growth coming out of this arc would be;

1. Zoro
2. Sanji
3. Luffy
4. Robin
5. the rest of the crew

Or am i simply considering this too heavily?

Don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to suggest that one piece is about power. Quite the opposite in fact. It's about the bonds which the crew share. Zoro felt he was more expendable to the crew than Luffy and Sanji felt he was absolutely and totally replaceable where as the other two weren't. We know that as they enter into the second half of the grand line, they'll come across more powerful enemies and they'll be required to protect their nakama. While One Piece isn't about fighting, the progression of the manga has always greatly depended on their ability to fight and grow.

Of course we all want to know about Vegapunk. But at the same time, becoming the greatest crew in the world is no easy task and the fact that it took an entire crew to Orz says that they need to grow and become stronger in order to protect each others dreams' and happiness.

I think your mistaken the whole way one piece been building up shows that the crew members need power ups (not dbz style)

After every arc the crew power up in strength anyways and with the talk of the new world if they didn't power up alot they would get wiped out
the end of thriller bark arc showed what may have happened if the crew never powered up and left it to luffy to beat strong people

Sanji and Zoro need to be able to people df users (zoro's goal is to become the strongest swordsmen) Zoro would eventually and i don't think sabretoothe meant gear 2 n 3 power ups but attcually build up in the natural strength

Like many said Robin's DF has so much potential yet all she's been doing is Clutch/Twist since day 1. Sure Wing was cute, but 5 sec flight every while has limited use in direct combat.

In fact, she needs a good fight entirely. If one thinks about it, her only fight as a SH was against Yama in Skypeia, and the latter was a semi-fodder. She needs a solid "boss" fight with creative new ways to utilize her power.

With inclusion of powerful mid-tier new members like Franky and Brook, I'd hate to see the girls fall into worthless background fighters, as in your every other shonen (coughsakurainouecough)

I think if Oda could undo anyone's Devil Fruit powers, he's swap her's for another in an instant. Everything about her development (fighting wise) says to me that he feels he's backed himself into a corner with her abilities. I mean we all saw how quickly he undone her ability to make things explode.

I hate Robin's devil fruit. I definitely agree; I think he'd change her power too if he could go back in time. Technically she should be able to wtfpwn anyone who isn't a logia and HUGE like Nightmare Moria - including Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy. The only thing that makes me feel any better about her not owning everybody she runs into is supposedly she tires easily, which makes a bit of sense. But, no one else tires as much as she does, so it doesn't help me too much. It makes me hate her character so much.. to the point if where it seems she's lazy or neglectful when she lets things happen to herself or the crew when she should be able to own everyone. If she wasn't so damn hot, I'd probably hate her character all together.

Well, it's not like i want Sanji to increase in speed when removing the weights.
Only in brute kicking strenght, and maybe one long range move (kicking air or something). So it's doesn't increase all of his abilitity's, like some many other shonens did before.

Once again I have to say that I don't understand why Sanji hasn't somethink like Rankyaku. Even the worst CP9-member (Nero) could use it and we know Sanji is a kicking master. Don't understand Oda in this one.

hmmm… if Sanji's shoes where heavy, then he would hit STRONGER with them, and taking them out would do no good. I mean, a heavy weapon amplifies the impact of the attack. That's why a big sword has more damage potential than a dagger.

Usually, in all manga who use this "heavy clothes" thing, the heavy clothes are used so that the guy gets stronger (because he is constantly uplifting weight) and, without them, the guy gets faster. However, in Sanji's case, a heavy shoe would be more like a weapon than weight-lifting.

Look at it this way….... even if the mugiwaras managed to get into the New World without powering up, they are BOUND to force to power up soon. Just look at the New World........... (oh wait, we aren't there yet)......... however, just IMAGINE Shanks's crew and Whitebeard's crew taking out a whole Marine armada without breaking a sweat........ I doubt Luffy's crew is at that level yet......
I doubt in that Marine armada that Shanks and Whitebeard taken out doesn't have strong Vice-Admirals or strong marines or devil fruit marines......

Luffy and gang will have to power up soon..... if they want to survive the New World.... they barely got pass CP9 and Thriller Bark...... How are they even going to get into the New World without having new moves? I will sure they will have new moves soon......

m is mass I agree, and mass is different from weight, I agree too, but considreing the gravity is constant to compare Xmass=weight

Force = mass * acceleration²

It is acceleration that matters, not speed. But since both are related, one could argue that a faster Sanji foot = stronger Sanji attack.

So, what you say (double the mass, double the force; double the speed, quadruple the force) may be true, but you are assuming that the acceleration gain is at least equal to the weight loss. One could argue that it would be easier to gain a heavier boot than a faster Sanji.

But that would be a boring discution with no point, so I am putting myself out of this.

To KiShiDo: Remember, Nero was training in Rokushiki. So he had some of the moves down. So Sanji would have to practice it, or just give it a try. There's no doubt that he has the strength to pull it off, but it'll be something that he himself developed, inspired by Ryankaku.

As for everyone else, Luffy will have to become stronger and faster without the Gears since they take such a toll on him. Zoro will have to master his new sword. It was shown that it greatly increased his attack power, so mastering that will do him a lot of good. Sanji just needs to keep doing what he's doing. And making his own version with Ryankaku might be pretty nifty.

Nico Robin is a more difficult case. Sure, she is strong, but maybe she needs to not be a sitting duck while doing her moves. If she fought someone as fast as Brook, they could cut her before she could finish her sentence. So that and think of more efficient ways of attack. As you all said, she has plenty of possibilities. Nami has a good thing with the Perfect Clima Tact, but I guess she's a bit slow too.

For Usopp, I think that he might need to develop a way to use the impact dial without the recoil. If he could do something like add it to a compartment in his staff and add some other ingenious contraptions to cushion the recoil greatly then he could use that move much more frequently without almost blowing his arm out of the socket. Chopper needs to improve strength and confidence, Franky can upgrade himself with more things and Brook seems to be OK. I'll think about him.

Power ups don't mean uber training, you gain battle experience the longer you fight and normally when you do fight, you tend to get better. And no that wasn't a DBZ reff, for christs sake…
You can train your body to an extant but one must also train the mind. So in lament terms, Luffy and Zoro will max out when they get totally beefy.
In all seriousness, they just need to learn some new moves, that might help.
Even a pebble can crush a boulder if it hits it right.

Well as i've mentioned previously about how ussop had noticed that as they move on the enimies are only going to get stronger i think this was a clue that the crew were about to go through a change (reinforced by Kuma and he almost killing them all).

The obvious people are The weakest 3 because they are the weakest and its obvious to see but i think thats not the ones who atcually need to power up more importantly. Luffy is gaining is aura a sign that now his determination for his goal and the protect crew.

Sanji and Zoro are the ones i see boosting up in power. For some reason i think we won't be seeing 1vs1 fights with nami ussop n chopper more so group fights where the 3 protect each others weakness. This is because its easier and more realistic to power these two up with luffy than it is to do for the other members. The way they attacked ennies lobby, Sanji and Zoro dealt the most damage to the marines in the crew apart from Luffy. Also they deal with the stronger enimies until luffy can arrive or they win. Arlong park is an example TB when them with the crew fought oz and so on

Reasons why i say Sanji and Zoro instead of others are as followed. Franky Brooks and robin can look after themselves (maybe robin needs a power up) but As They enter the new world just having Luffy as the Main attack isn't going to work. Moria is a example of what may happen if the crew don't get stronger.

Thinking about them getting close increasing in power and strength the WG/marines may decide to send pairs of warlords after Luffy n co just like Kuma asked moria if he needed help, (but this time they won't have a choice of saing no as it would be an order). but theres no way Oda can power up the bottom 3 so that they will fight warloads or extremly strong people.

Mid 3 is more possible but would be extremely fake for them to power up to the likes of luffy, Zoro and Sanji and attempt to beat strong characters that would or could trouble luffy in battle. So it seems Obvious that the top 3 will become the main attack of the crew and power. Mid 3 the defense of the crew and bottom 3 the ones who keep everything operating with both the crew and ship.

I think as the crew becomes larger they are becoming more like a proper pirate crew.

I'd like to see Robin use her arms in a spider-like fashion; that is, create spider legs that she can travel on and use to attack. Also using her ability in other creative ways.

For Zoro, I can see him making an ultimate attack: Nirvana. Becoming one with the universe, he can cut the very air around him, causing a massive attack.

Luffy? Vulcanizing, pure and simple.

Sanji? Steel-toed shoes. And using his hands with protectors.

Chopper? Controlled Monster Form.

Brooke? So much potential here. Fighting with music will be awesome.

Franky? Too many possibilities. Dials, devices, New World gadgets, oh my.

Nami? More eccentric weather, like Hail, thunder, etc.

Usopp? More dials, probably from Urouge, and even more confidence.
