I've recently started watching OP a few weeks ago, and I just finished Loguetown. It appears Warship Island is filler, but when it comes to filler, for every Garlic Jr Saga(DBZ) -_-, there's an Asgard(Saint Seiya) :D!.
So I'm wondering, should I watch Warship Island, or just skip to Laboon?
Well, it depends. Go read my review of the Warship Island Arc in the "My Reviews of the One Piece Arcs" thread, and that should help you decide. 
it's only like six episodes.
It's not great, but it's not the worst filler arc.
I'd say watch it, but hey, you might as well just watch an episode or two of it and see if you're enjoying it.
I got a friend into One Piece recently, and we've taken a "Skip Every Filler Arc" position.
Not because they're all terrible, on the contrary G8 is really good, just All the Filler arcs add up, and if you skip them all then you can get through the series much faster.

There are always those episodes that are only half filler though. So you'd have to watch the last episode of the Return of Foxy filler arc, to catch the beginning of Water 7, etc.
The beginning of Apis also includes the Calm Belt explanation. And you definitely won't want to miss their departure, as the entrance to Reverse Mountain fallows in the very same episode.
I'd say watch it once and see if you care to in the future; you're paying for all those eps, so you might as well get your money's worth.

well it depends if you want to watch it but its like everybody has said.
as for me well i watched it a couple of months ago now i am in Thriller bark so i am still a little far to where the japanese is at but i am getting there.
i mainly skipped some fillers that were not part of the main story like the Feudel japan one or Chopperman which i am planning to see some other time those fillers because i was in the middle of CP9 and i didn't want to brake the mood of that arc.
anyways about the Warship one well i can say this i watched it but didn't know it was a filler before but i know it ain't but watched it anyway, i thought the arc was ok till Eric the Whirlwind came in and thats when i kept watching more of the arc and got me hooked was Eric why well i think its because of his japanese voice actor.
for some reason when i heard Eric in japanese i heard Frieza and then it got me even more hooked, did anybody got that Eric in japanese is Frieza i thought it was awesome that he sounded like Frieza.

Yeah, he's Ryusei Nakao, great voice actor. That and the okama running gag are the saving graces of this arc, but there's also canon material on episodes 54/61 that shouldn't be skipped.
Watch it for Ryuusei Nakao and Erik's swirly haircut. He even got to kill someone.
There were a few sequences that I liked: Zoro's fight with Erik in the island ruins, everyone escaping the Marines by mountain/raft boarding down the mountainside with Zoro and Usopp stole back the Merry, and Luffy sinking Nelson's flagship with Ono.
Erik's return on Reverse Mountain was totally unnecessary though.
There were a couple of good Zoro-abuse scenes (by Luffy) that I really enjoyed.

Eh? He is talking about eps that are on the season 1 and the upcoming season 2 DVDs, so I assume he's seeing them from there. I mean, how else would he be watching them?

I'd say watch it, just because when you run out of One Piece ep's to watch in the future you will be like a crackhead fiending for rock. Then if you go back and watch them it will be all out of order. Maybe not confusing but annoying. That is my 2 cents :P

Everyone, today, as for that me, it is BB which strikes the point. I did not like the island arc of the war boat. Although that was shortage I, the filler inlet does not have to be liked. As for that and wastefulness shouldn' of those times; So it is; t did that. Those delays! The people of Toei as gotten angry, occasionally do me. Anyway, as to the question, it's not too bad. The first episode is definitely worth watching, as it has calm belt + evil strawhats, and the last episode has some canon material. I fairly enjoyed it, apart from the weakness of the villains.
you won`t miss much..so skip it

I BB say this: i didn't like warship island arc. Even if it was short, that doesn't mean i liked it. And you shouldn't waste time on them, they will only slow down the pace. occasionally the people of Toei makes me angry. I would like to say that those in charge are crazy.

It is one of the less likable fillars (my favorite happens to be G8 - please, PLEASE, watch it when you're up to it) but it still has some great Canon-ness in it. (If Canon-ness is a word? Indeed. The arc is not amazing, but it's funny enough, plus a fair bit of canon material is injected into the beginning and end(especially the end). Just feels a bit slow in the middle, storytelling wise.
That picture was the first of many times I laughed out loud while watching One Piece. Thanks for showing it around!
I never really thought this arc was as terrible as many people say it is; it's just kind of forgettable and pales in comparison to the arcs around it. It is very unfortunate how the end of Apis's arc and the beginning of Laboon's is smushed into the same episode.
Whoever designed that Usopp gets a gold star.
It'll be quite boring and somewhat annoying, compared to canon arcs at least.. But I'd still watch it if I were you I guess. There still are some fun stuff there.
