Basically I want to do what something like what NF has done here and here.
To be more precise, it's a Tournament based on a manga. A tier list is created which bases characters off of a point system. Characters that are more powerful/useful have more points.
A team is created using this list. lets say the team limit is 70 points.
each contestant has one team. During a tournament, A match is randomized and two contestants battle it out. whether it's a contest or a war it's a battle of sorts. the winner advances to the next round, the loser drops out. it's a typical tournament style.
During a match, the contestant creates a strategy based off of a randomized location and knowledge on the opponent's team. both strategies are then pitted against each other and voters vote according to whichever contestant is more convincing. the winner is the contestant with the highest amount of votes at the end of a certain time period. (say, three days)
well, I'll give you an example. lets say we're making a One Piece tournament. I'd create a tier list that takes characters from the manga and organizes them in terms of power. Obviously some characters would have to have certain abilities restricted otherwise they would break the tournament.
here's what the tier list could look like.
http://forums.narutofan.com/showpost.php?p=16134948&postcount=1
Each individual name on the tier list would be linked to a post that has the character profile, attacks, and restrictions. So theoretically, you'd just click on the name to find out what that character can do. Keep in mind I may miss some attacks. So anything you find in the manga that's not on the list and isn't restricted is also usable.
Now, you have a 70 point limit to create a team from that tier list.
so lets say that i'll choose
Ace -30
Crocodile -25
Bon Clay -15
that team is 70 points exactly, you can't use more points than that.
Now, when a match is created both contestants have a team in the match.
a location is then randomized from a list of pre-organized locations. both contestants are than given 2 days to form a strategy using their team.
the goal of the match is to defeat the enemy team using whatever skills or ideas you and your team have.
Would this be an idea you lot could be interested in? After seeing this format work numerous times It's very fun and could potentially increase member activity.
