I dare you to prove to me that she's a better actress than Linda Hamelton.
Japanese Survey Says "One Piece" is #2 Choice for Live-Action Movie

I dare you to prove to me that she's a better actress than Linda Hamelton.
She's a Singer, not an actress, but she looks almost identical & is very quiet, and when she does speak, she speaks very elegantly - Not an actress, but almost identical in looks & personality.
-
I would star Oda as none other than Gold Roger himself. Both he and Linda Hamelton (Nico Robin) would be the script supervisors.
Hey, if he can cameo in the Dream Soccer short, he can be the pirate king in the live-action movie. Primarily, though, he's there to make sure the movie's done right.
-
The last thing I want is a live action movie. Leave it as a cartoon please.
-

But can she seduce a cyborg? I THINK NOT!

If there's any place in the world I'm willing to let a woman wear something as demeaning as make-up, it's Hollywood. Better yet, digital make-up.
As for the difficulties of Oda's funny faces, I'll just adivse everyone to excorsize their faces in the mirror often. That way, even though it won't be cartoony, everyone will (be able to) make silly facial expressions.
-
Bridget Regan from that zany fantasy show Legend of the Seeker would make a good Robin I think. She plays a somewhat laid back character with a quirky sense of humor on the show. Who kicks ass.

Not surprised Slam Dunk is number one choice. I find it bland but it was the #1 manga in japan for a while.
Okay… In order for a One Piece movie to not suck you need to have a movie crew that won't make changes to the storyline (Director, Writers), or for a good measure make it like the other One Piece movies, unconnected from the main story but still set in the One Piece world, just not modernized like that other movie…
It will mainly be something for fans of One Piece, for those that have read the story or have watched the anime, and that's a good audience. However, this causes a problem since you've got what a handful of One Piece fans compared to something like Naruto, a name more well known in the western Manga/Anime world. And then there's those completely unfamiliar to the story, like people who have never picked up a manga book or watched an anime. Otherwise something big budget would more than likely fail at the box office.
Then there's the characters. Doing a whole movie about Luffy having his crew join him is well long... Solution to this is to add small flashbacks (about a minute or two) to each member in defining moments in the film, allowing the audience to see why the crew joined Luffy and what their goals are. Then perhaps getting some of the audience curious to the whole story and in that case causes more manga and anime sales.
Finally, the timing. For a One Piece movie to succeed it must not be placed around the time of a superhero movie, a disney, or a dreamworks film. Likewise, there must be loads of advertising. (That other movie only really advertised on channels kids and tweens watched, where something like X-men got primetime scheduling.)
-
That's horrible. That'd really be a movie only for set fans… But if that's the case it shouldn't even be made.
They should just start from the begining. Yeah, there will be changes. Big flipplin' whoop.

When you put it like that, it kind of sounds like Unlimited Adventure, but without the whole concept of a video game.

oh Japan! How you and I always agree! If you were a lady, I'd marry you.
the #1 choice: Slam Dunk~!
Which is honestly, much more exciting considering a LA Slam Dunk! movie or drama is WAYYYYxinfinity more doable than a Live Action One Piece movie.
I'm not sure about this. I haven't liked any Live Action Anime adaptions so far. They are just saddening sometimes…. and heartbreaking. I try my best to see the positive side but there's always...something.
-ahem-
LIVE ACTION GTO - superior to the anime version in every way possible.OP could only work as a movie if it were an American movie, because it'd require BIG hollywood budget and cg to pull off ANY of it believably. But if it were made in the west, it'd lose a lot of its flavor and style, so…

nomater who makes it it wont work

rumors about a Monster movie by New Line have been circulating for years and it's much better suited for live action than OP, so it's far more likely to happen (or at least more likely to happen sooner)
Yeah, Monster is much more suited for a live action movie, and it probably wouldn't suck as well, because Monster isn't like the stereotypical anime.
I don't like the idea of a One Piece live action movie, though. We all know how badly all of them get screwed up. In addition, if it were to suck, and come to America it would only make One Piece even more unpopular in America.
-
Also, to whoever thought Chopper would have to be CG: Gary Coleman. Dispite his temper, he deserves more out of life. And dressing up as a reindeer in a pink hat is definitely a step up.

I REALLY can't see OP as a live-action movie. It's way too cartoony for live-action.

Jesus Christ - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!
Plans are 'in the works' according to James Wong, he and some of his colleagues had 'tossed' the idea of A One Piece movie around since they finished work on Dragonball Evolution . Wong said that he 'spoke with representatives of Fuji T.V.' & took Oda's View, Oda wasn't that enthusiastic of it, he thinks it might lower One Piece's Profile in the States .
Wong has said that negotiations are 'underway' and that if the right prices are met, then things may well go into production, possibly in late 2011.
WORST OF ALL, Wong recalls speaking with Chris Sabat & Al Kahn at an anime convention and talked with them about Dubbing One piece. Wong must never have seen 4KIDS One Piece .
How Fucking awful is this, directed by Dragon Ball wrecker James Wong, apparently, i can only hope these fucking rumours aren't true, or I won't be going near my Cinema for a long fucking time …

One Piece isn't even that popular in America in the first place. They should not be doing this. >_>

Just to clarify, I made it ALL up - XD
Ah… Really should have checked to see if it was really a link to ANN or not...
I have a tendency to not do that until later.
Well at least now I know for sure that it was made up. XD I have no idea how much the creator of DB Evolution would screw up a One Piece movie.
-
Holy hell, I just now realized it was a rickroll. I didn't even click the link, so I just assumed it was all real.
I usually don't fall for this shit.

Same here.
I already felt so stupid that I didn't click on the link, I just checked what it was first… And I'm glad I did instead of clicking on it. =P I already had a hunch it was a Rick Roll before I checked what it was, anyways.

Really the only movie I see working there is Ouran…
-
When you put it like that, it kind of sounds like Unlimited Adventure, but without the whole concept of a video game.
Pretty much yeah. Base it on any part of the main storyline and people are bound to be confused, and no one but fans would watch it. Anime fans, and to the extent One Piece fans, cover a small amount of the population. So in order to make a profit, to make it so people can get into the gist of the story, you need to create what is essentially a filler saga in which it doesn't disturb the main story's plot, but at certain moments (like the climax of fights) make a small note into the past of the characters to have the audience who are unfamiliar to the characters see how they joined and why they stay in the crew.
Also, the Gold Roger opening is a MUST, if that is not included, some may wonder what One Piece is.
. . . . .
See? This is why if Oda will not work on it, we NEED a fan to work on it, should Hollywood ever get its grubby little hands on the rights to the movie.
Exactly, hardcore fans are the only ones who can take the concept of a One Piece movie and make it entertaining for fans. But on that point, they have to know how the movie industry acts and how to produce a profit. So in order to do that, you have to make sure people who are not fans will enjoy themselves, and may eventually become fans should there be a sequel. With the added bonus being that other One Piece products (Manga, DVDs, and yeah movie tie-in toys perhaps) will boost the sales as well.
If Oda will not work directly on it, he should at least design the characters so that the makeup team will have something to base upon.
-

Yeah, he would have to; his art style is great but sometimes you need something a little more realistic looking to get an overall feel of what the character would look like in reality.

All you nay-sayers just aren't ambitious enough. In the pre-emptive prequel I mentioned, Shanks would say, "Oh, that treasure that won't even be explained until the NEXT MOVIE?" The title would be changed to something both more marketable and symbolic of the main cast.)
United Treasure 0 would start with chapter 1 and end on chapter 96, featuring the side stories of Hatchi, Coby, and Jango in the credits. Black Buggy would have a DVD short.
United Treasure 1 would chronicle chapters 97-217 (and the fight with Bellamy), featuring Wapol's side story in the credits. Ms. Goldenweek would have a DVD special.
Burning Fist would begin on Ace's ship, involve chapters 218-318, (because those are going to be left out of the movies, sorry) and end with chapters 440 and 441 as the boss battle and a part of 524 in the credits. Enel and Getatsu's side stories would be unlockables.
United Treasure 2 would tell chapters 319-439, with CP9's side story as a DVD special.
United Treasure 3, which I would have to be talked into, would encompass chapters 442-512.
Divided Treasure, putting you in Luffy's sandles, would start with chapter 515. (This will only fallow UT3.)Although I'm open to suggestions, there's no way you can convince me it can't be done. Remember the plot fusion I mentioned earlier? Most of it at the very least would work. The only problems I see are:
Kuro and Buggy are pretty much opposites, but I have confidence yet.
Merry won't fly. This is a relatively insignificant detail, as fun as that was.
Where do they get the dials? From Ace, of corse! The movies won't mention or even directly acknowledge their existance.
Where does Bellamy fit in? Simple, Wiskey Peak is now called Jaya. Problem solved.
What about the moves only shown in Skypia? Luffy's rifle will be used to knock down Arlong's gate, Brain Switch and Octopus will be used against Crocodile (maybe), Zoro will use 108-Pound Canon against the Agua Laguna…
No Robin vs. Yama? Don't worry, Robin will have her own unlockable level which is a parody of the opening to Indiana Jones.
Most importantly: How is Ace going to defeat Enel? I'm going to need Oda's concent on this.In the end, there's one thing perfectionists must remember: Don't make the source material obsolete! Changes are fine as long they do the original story justice.

Um… I don't want to sound rude, but I'm afraid I can't tell if you're being serious or if this post is sarcastic... really hard to tell on the internet. If it's sarcastic, that's a thought-out bit of sarcasm, there... ._.

Two video games; four movies. SO FAR.
Crap, I meant to say Buggy.

Frankly, I don't see it. Or I should say I don't see it working out well. Problem with your plot fusion as while it solves the problem with the hour and a half to two hour runtime, you've pretty much changed the story doing so, even if you still reference the source material, it seems way too different. Fans would turn it down because the source material changed and an adaptation would ruin the main story, and those that are new would more or less get confused if they look at the source material or get driven off by the overload.
However… I could be wrong... I wouldn't see it though.
A simple, unrelated story would help with fans and the rest of the audience alike. Fans normally would just see it (as they watch filler despite not liking it at first) and the rest will watch it depending on how the advertising works out. Luffy crashing down to face off against the bad guy before giving him a punch to the face would speak volumes of badass, as well as showing the rest of the strawhats before the title seems like one of the greatest preview ideas I came up with.
-
Three hours, actually. And that's what my last sentance is about! Remember Hellboy? That plot wasn't even in the comic, but all the characters were there in full accurate glory. The sequel is even better example because it went into Hellboy's fantasy world and was even better for it. Notice that I've strictly fused re-accuring characters with one-shot appearances. Morgan Krieg is an especially interesting idea.
Filler movies only work when they plagurize Oda. I won't be apart of any of that shit.
-
This just wouldn't work, why don't people ever learn?
-
So said Bellamy to whoever thinks they can reach the island in the sky.
-
sigh .

as long as Naruto isnt on the list, I is happy

I just decided to come back to this thread and HOLY SHIT:
@Conspiracynut:That's what YOU think! Imagine the fallowing:
Vice Admiral "Axe-Hand" Morgan Krieg.
"Clown of 1,000 Plans" Black Buggy
tangerine tycoon
Michael D. Newbury as Monkey D. Luffy
H. Dekota Fanning as Nami
Ellen Degeneres as Sanji
Jet Li as Roronoa Zoro
"Weird" Al Yankovic as Narrarator and Usopp
Sean Connery as Monkey D. Garp
Chuck Norris as Zeff
Antonio Banderas as Mihawk
Leonardo Decaprio as Morgan Fullbody
Arnold Shwartzinegger as Morgan Krieg
Michael Jackson as Jango
Rosie O'Donnell as Alvita
Sigfried as Mohji, Roy as Caboji, and their white lion as Richi
Robin Williams as "Clown of 1,000 Plans" Black Buggy
Dan Green as Yosaku
Mr. T as Gaimon
Merry won't fly. This is a relatively insignificant detail, as fun as that was.
Where do they get the dials? From Ace, of corse! The movies won't mention or even directly acknowledge their existance.

Changes are fine as long they do the original story justice.Oh my god bro, this is some serious trolling. Grade A shit. Holy damn, if I didn't know you were trolling I'd kill you. I will personally not let you anywhere near a live action One Piece adaptation. You will die if you touch the script.
PS: You should use spell check more often.
Linda Hamilton is too old. This Katy Perry, tho I've never heard of her, definitely looks the part.
Stop lying. If you're American you know Katy Perry. I mean, she kissed a girl and liked it. Who could forget that?
-
I'm not trolling. I'm not entirely keen on the idea of replacing the Strawhats with Ace for Skypia and the Davy Back Fight, but I want as much of the story as possible in as few movies as possible. Please don't take this the wrong way, but those stories would be a waste of time. All the really important parts can easily be put into the Baroque Works and CP9 sagas. The fact that I want to put them in Ace's game at all is an apology!
And seriously, what's wrong with Dekota Fanning? Just like many other characters, her hair can easily be digitally recolored (because I refuse to use real-life cosmetics). If this is about chest size, then the feeling of hatred is mutual. I only care about talent!
Besides, I already said I'm open for suggestions. If you have any ideas on how to condense 512 chapters into three or four movies, I'm all ears!
-
Ellen Degeneres as Sanji
I LOL'd like hell at this
We Could have Rick Astley as Shanks
Luffy : Shanks, you didn't have to save me …
Shanks : Don't be silly Luffy, you know I'm - Never gonna give you up, Never gonna ... -
I was thinking Jonny Depp, but your idea involves less type-casting! Thankyou!
-
I'm not trolling.
Yes you are. Stop lying.
And seriously, what's wrong with Dekota Fanning? Just like many other characters, her hair can easily be digitally recolored (because I refuse to use real-life cosmetics).
Confirmed for fail. The abandonment of cosmetics and the worship of CG is what causes movies to become shit. Inspector Gadget was a pretty awesome movie. IG2 on the other hand just attempted to whore out cheap laughs and useless CG. The same could be said about The Matrix.
Besides, I already said I'm open for suggestions. If you have any ideas on how to condense 512 chapters into three or four movies, I'm all ears!
I don't know why you want to even try to condense the ENTIRE plot into a movie(s).
Just film Water 7 or Jayapeia with some flashback in it showing the characters faith and loyalty to Luffy as well as their dream and you're set.
-
NO. Like I said, you're not ambitious enough. Why would you want to miss out on things like muppet zombies, polka lies, murderous Robin Williams, or Gary Coleman dressed up as a reindeer in a pink hat?
Are you implying that Dekota Fanning NEEDS make-up? FYPMOI{ITG(U^TEDYVRSD(UBYN)_(&*THE%^R
Besides, Skypia's budget would be massive without even a garuntee that it would feel right. A video game would do it so much more justice.
-
NO. Like I said, you're not ambitious enough. Why would you want to miss out on things like muppet zombies, polka lies, murderous Robin Williams, or Gary Coleman dressed up as a reindeer in a pink hat?
One Piece will never have good games again you should give up on that.
Besides, Skypia's budget would be massive without even a garuntee that it would feel right. A video game would do it so much more justice.
Damn straight the Skypeia budget would be high as hell. And I would use up every cent to ensure that it stays so close to the source material that you could use the manga as a screenplay. Very few large actors would be used. They take too much money. I would get unknowns for the film.
It starts off like this:
Credits during the VERY end of Croc's fight done in flashback style. Focus is placed on Robin. After the credits are done we skip to the scene of the crew is getting acquanted with Robin. During this time you hear summaries of their backstories. With this you also get a feel of each characters personality.
It starts raining boat. Chaos insues
Nami explains the Lockpost and it's purpose.
The myth of sky islands is brought up.
The strawhats decide to search the fallen boat. Cue Masira antics.
Cue Skypeian Monsters.
Sail to Jaya Time.
-
Starting with a flashback to the climax of the previous movie, which also doesn't exist? Now THAT's a bad idea.
Here's the first few hours worth of Burning Fist:
Before the Start screen is available, the player is treated to Ace having a dream of when Whitebeard accepted him into the crew. Upon pressing the Start button, (and not the load button, of corse) You are awakened by a crewmate, who insists that he must come up on deck. Fallow him to the site of a (non-grusome) murder as he explains that they kidnapped a detective while you were asleep. To disclaim the fear that this is like those lame T.V. spinoffs where the main character is just a relative of the main character of some other show, after an exchange of crime drama cliches, this detective will do a David Caruso impression at the cost of his "friend status" icon. The player may now burn the terrible impersonator alive if they so choose, his screams sounding just like the opening to CSI: Miami.. Ask around the ship and find out that the culprit is Blackbeard, who also took an Eternal Pose to Drum-hence it is the location of the second level.
While exploring and cleaning up the aftermath of Blackbeard's raids in the winter island, asking about Luffy is also on your agenda; although "Never seen him" is the only answer you'll get. This will be an excellent chance to use the obsorb fire function. Once Drum is back on its feet, Kureha will inform you in what direction Blackbeard headed: Jaya Peak. Between each island is a surfing level, in which seakings and deadly weather patterns will randomly obstruct your path.
But not this time, instead, shards of rotting wood start to rain on you. You must dodge them on your tiny surfboard, but they get bigger as the seconds go by. Finally, an entire gallion falls from the sky. If the player survives this, then Cricket's crew will come along and start excavating. Board their ship and contribute to their research; afterwhich Cricket will request that you get his golden idol back from Bellamy. Once you find Bellamy in town, he will hand it over without any trouble. This will definitely be the funniest chance to use the "be polite" option because they're all scared witless. Upon returning the idol, Cricket explains the mythology of Sky Island and how to get threre. Despite what Bellamy believes, Ace's Log Pose is pointing toward the sky. Chase a Southbird through a jungle level full of bugs and use it to find the Knock-Up Stream, upon which you will need to dodge seakings as they fall out. Finally, you'll arrive in the clouds. The White Sea doesn't offer anything of interest and the Log Pose is still pointing further up.
Arrival at the Silver Sea will quickly attract Viper's attention. Between your lack of oxygen and his seastone, Gan Fall will come to your rescue your sorry butt. After buying a wistle from him, he points you toward Heaven's Gate. The old woman taking your picture will ask for an entrance fee, but also mention that it's optional. Like many moments in the game, this is a chance to earn "in-character" points by ablidging to the fee. But you can only afford it if you don't buy the wistle! Either way, during the Angel Beach level, no matter what you do, it will be added to the Skypia page of your crimes list. ("Bearing the Jolly Roger" will be on the Grand Line page from the very beginning) To deter the White Berrets, Conis and her father invite you to their house where they explain their dial-based culture and the political situation regarding Enel. The eating mini-game involves quick flashes in which Ace sleeps in his food. But they were ordered to distract you, allowing the White Berrets to confiscate your surfboard! As they take it over the bridge to "Upper Yard", the much bigger island that looks like it belongs on the ocean instead of the sky, Conis will lead you through a harbor while all the nameless NPCs will keep a distance of several meters from her. Until finally, the crowd starts yelling about "God's Judgement" while the atmosphere takes a turn for the creepy. Run as fast as you can in any direction, even though it won't do any good. Just in time, Gan Fall swoops in to grab both of you. Once in the dinky, little crow boat that Conis insisted you take, cross the bridge into Upper Yard and pass through the deadly traps to find yourself having to choose which trial to face: Iron, Swamp, String, or Ball. No matter which you choose, you'll face all four High Preists eventually. (By the way, Ace will have slowly adjusted to the lesser atmospheric density. Although flames will remain less powerful for now, he can now breath normally.) Betweeen each of them, the armies of Enel's goat soldiers and the natives of the island will either be killing each other or try to kill you. The Ball Trial will involve having to keep up with your boat while avoiding as many ball clouds as possible. the String Trial rewards you with your board found on an alter, at the cost of the crow boat that nobody will like. Now Conis and her father will acompany you through the Swamp Trial, in which you can try to save a goat soldier from Getatsu for more character points. The Iron Trial will be more complex than the others, as it involves Viper, Ohm, Holly, an iron cloud cage and traps, and a giant snake that eats you after Ohm's defeat. Once eaten, it is a simple matter of finding your way out, along with the native child Aisa. She will lead you to Conis, whom Enel offered a trip to the Moon. (She only accepted out of fear)
I'll think up more while re-reading the Manga. If you think you've found any plot holes this creates, I'll be glad to hear them and think of ways around them.
