Wow, just realised there's a new tag on Pixiv for genderswaps of the One Piece characters: サラダ食べて海賊王 which is what Luffyko said in Oda's genderswap; Eat salad and become the Pirate King!

I made a Luffy. I was going for a more butch and tomboyish Luffyko, embodying Luffy's fighting spirit more than the SUPA KAWAII recent genderswaps do (though I still love them) but I think she ended up a good measure too butch.

We've got a new con in Arizona coming up called "Conichiwa" that I want to go to… it's 3 days and I was already gonna be Seras Victoria (from Hellsing) one day, Strong World Robin another, and now I think Luffyko is gonna be day 3 XD
A wig is the best bet, I do NOT wana cut my hair... only thing is, Oda didn't draw her from the waist down, so I'm not sure which way to go with the shorts... should I go with short-shorts or a Skirt? I saw a really good one I liked that had a skirt and belt (Click here to see it, its not new) and I think it adds a bit of flavor to the outfit IE, it'd truly be a Luffyko outfit, and wouldn't just look like I'm a girl crossplaying as the male Luffy
Would anyone like photos when I'm done? Would it be more appropriate to talk about this in a cosplay Thread/section? XD

Heh, I'm only against wearing a wig just because I already have black hair and I can get it cut for free, so I don't see the point in spending money on it. XD

I personally think shorts would be better. So my concern is, If I wana cosplay Luffyko, but I make the costume a red vest and any kind of shorts, people wouldn't be able to tell I was anything other than one of the countless girls who just "Crossplay" Luffy. Go to any con, and I'm sure you'll find AT LEAST one girl attending who is dressed as normal, unaltered Luffy, and this was before Luffyko was ever even a though in our minds.
Again, my concern is that a Luffyko costume with hotpants wouldn't be different enough from normal Luffy to set it apart from a normal Luffy Costume. If I ultimately decided on shorts, I'd HAVE to go with the hotpants, since they are different to an extent. Baggy shorts are right out since that would defeat the point. I'd basically just be another girl Crossplaying as Luffy.
I just think a Skirt would be a more original take on a Luffyko outfit than to simply "Girl-ize" Luffy's Normal outfit… if that makes sense. And another translation and edit from me. I just thought this is one that was (a) easy to translate and (b) was the kind of picture where people will think "WTF? I wonder what they're saying". Actually, Sanko is saying "Sekuharakun, Marimo" which is literally "Mr Sexual Harassment, Marimo" or "Sexual Harassment-kun, Marimo" if you prefer. It just sounded kind of awkward in English so I came out with this instead, playing up on the (probably) already existent Kalifa reference in the process.

If anyone's interested, some of the names the Japanese fans are using are:
Nami = Namizou
Robin = Robio (they don't seem to realise that Robin is unisex anyway, though to be fair, I've only seen one artist use this)
Luffy = Luffy (I guess it does sound quite girly, actually)
Sanji = Sanji, Sanji-chan or "Sweets". I've also seen Sanko. I'm not sure, but I don't think Sanji is actually a real name. It just means "3 o'clock" (though it can also mean "horrible accident" as I'm sure Zoro would like to point out).I quite like how they've sometimes referred to male Nami with female Luffy as "Mikan Sarada" or "Orange Salad".
