how do you commit suicid
how do you commit suicid
killing yourself but it turns out that you have 10% chance of surviving
Speechless.
Utterly speechless.
What in the name of fuck.
Poor kid. Given his age, I wonder if he really understood what he was doing. :(
Meh, lots of people kill themselves. I don't see why this merits its own topic.
The fact he was fucking seven?
i don't think he was. It just said seven, no fucking about it.
There have been younger or same age suicides. So what's your point?
Meh, lots of people kill themselves. I don't see why this merits its own topic.
You could use that argument for nearly every topic in a forum. A husband kills his wife! Meh, lots of husbands kill their wives. A game comes out where you shoot aliens! Meh, lots of games come out where you shoot aliens. A politician does a crappy job! Meh, lots of politicians do a crappy job.
A seven-year-old killing themselves isn't a commonplace occurrence in a lot of people's lives and it's interesting. Why not have its own topic?
I do consider using the argument for most topics, actually, though rarely act on it.
Meh, Wagomu says lots of stuff. I don't see why his comments merit any attention.
Exactly. Half of what I say is only relevant to my own beliefs anyways. If you don't like what I say, just think "That guy's a fucking dumbass" and move on.

Ironic considering who this is coming from.
Regardless of the circumstances behind why the child killed himself it's just sad when something like this happens, especially when reading up on how his life was.

I'd rather tell you outright since your "personal belief" is that idiotic and deserves to be called out on for its stupidity.
And then move on.
Yup, incriminate people for their opinions and choices. Isn't that how the witch hunts started?

Dude you're showing little to no remorse for a fucking seven year old kid hanging himself. How could you not see anything wrong with that?
How can you not see anything wrong with not giving a damn about any other 7 year olds who do?
That's the stupidest argument I've ever heard.
"My father just died."
"YEAH WELL A LOT OF PEOPLE'S DADS DIE NO BIG DEAL"
"…."
For the love of God stop posting.
It honestly does bug me that people focus on specific incidents rather than the big picture. There's something psychologically wrong with someone who will care about the death of a specific stranger more than all as a whole. Act like you're concerned with one guy and forget the rest.
Who says they have to be mutually exclusive, which is what you're making it out to be.
Try again.
It tends to be. It's the American-bred attitude, perpetuated by the media that allows people to care more about the death of a select few than the genocide of millions. Who are people to cry over some small suicide incident and then glance at Darfur, shrug and think "Meh, shit happens"?

I..don't think you're understanding how most people think or are willfully ignoring it, just to be contrary. People focus on specific incidents about specific people because most people find it easier to relate, emotionally and mentally, with actual individuals, instead of a "faceless" mass of statistics.
I personally respond a lot stronger, emotionally, when hearing about one specific kid's story and life, compared to hearing about how 50,000 people killed themselves last year. Having a detailed picture and history of one case of suicide helps people relate better, and that's why it affects people more emotionally.

So because some people are like that automatically makes your opposing view correct.
Wrong, you're an idiot.
Meh, if your still suprised by things like this then congrads on never having played GTA, seen Family Guy, been to a poorly funded high school, worked at mcdonalds, been robbed, been screwed by the police, or generally existing in this day and age.
Shit far more fucked up than this happens EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Not to say you shouldnt care the kid is dead, but seriously it isnt so suprising when you have mothers flushing their baby's down the toilet and people drowing their dogs and shit. Either get used to it or do something about it.
Except the dispute isn't over whether someone is surprised or not when something happens.

Why don't you offer any input on the matter? If you can't form a point, you shouldn't be throwing names around. I never said anything about being correct. In fact, I've explicitly stated that most of it is my opinion. The factual stuff I had avoided using all-encompassing terms. So through your ignorance and inability to respond other than certain "I'm right, you're wrong" comments, reveals more of a latent hypocrisy which could make you, in the eyes of some, an idiot.

True, and I do hear this a lot. It is reasonable to consider and I do understand the point. I just find it wrong to consider one life worth more than others. I also don't like how the many lives are portrayed as a nameless mass. If people are being sympathetic, they should try understanding that each of these people has their own story you can relate to in some way or another. It is a tough concept to grasp, though, in terms of mentally considering large scale sympathy (though it's easy to understand it).

I'm not disputing anyone Vanessa I was just making a statment. Is that quite alright with you miss?

Large scale sympathy is super hard for people to really feel. And in the case of people not caring enough about horrible things like the problems in Darfur, I think that specific stories about some of the people that suffered/died, with a face and history that people can really emotionally relate and connect to, might do a better job in making people care rather than just giving people raw numbers.
Like I hear about the large numbers of animals that are abused and killed by their owners and I feel bad, but when I hear about the life of a specific dog, it's name and troubles, abuse and death, I will fucking weep like a baby. And it makes me think differently about all the other animals that go through the same thing.
Yeah, being a human rights activist in my school, that is one of the techniques we use to promote such understanding for specifically that reason.

I already did give mine: that it doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Besides, I don't have to give my input simply because someone doesn't have to have a right answer in order to see a wrong one.
Oh and an opinion can be wrong; it's not some magical thing that's immune to scrutiny. Nor is it a free pass in a lousy attempt to make a clearly ignorant(see I can use these words too) and idiotic viewpoint seem valid.

I dunno….maybe....:ninja:

If you're trying to dispute my point, your disputation has more value if you actually have an argument rather than throwing me a few freebies to easily respond to.
And no, there's no such thing as an objectively wrong opinion. It's wrong in YOUR opinion.

I was going to read this but then I realized that it was a post by Yonkou#3 and it's sure to be riddled with imbecility and awful grammar so I automatically discarded it as trash.

Pretty sure an opinion cannot be wrong. It can be built off of incorrect information, but your opinion is your opinion. How can it be wrong? (Don't mean to derail the topic)
That's horrible!
He was so young.
Geez, a real eye opener

I guess… I still consider an opinion to be "wrong" if its viewed by the majority of society as corrupt or indecent though (not to say that we should all conform though).

"Slavery is a good thing."
"IN MY OPINION slavery is a good thing."
Is the latter not wrong now just because I added three words to it?

Actually, if it's your opinion and that's what you truly believe, then its right for you. Whether or not slavery is good is a subjective thing. I believe it's wrong and thus my opinion would be against that one, but if we were born into a family of slave owners and were taught that it was good, we would see nothing wrong with it.
Believing that opinions can be wrong is merely equating them to facts, an attitude that has lead to many problematic historic conflicts, such as the crusades and the holocaust.

So…you're placing a single person's situation above the "nameless masses?"
OH SNAP!!!111!!!1!!1
And no, it isn't.
it is my opinion that this thread should be renamed "why wagomu is stupid"
(wondered how this thread could reach 40 posts in a few hours)

Not really, I'm just examining a specific scenario to help you understand the larger scale, since you apparently can't grasp that concept.

I like the extra attention. Keep it coming!
This is excruciating. Stop while you're behind.
It's a stubbornness thing. I don't really see why I'm being chastised, though, for trying to present logical arguments compared to the person who's responding with insults and trying to lord their opinion over others.
Wagomu does have a point, albeit its hidden in a cold response. Even though this case of a child committing suicide at such a young age is extremely disturbing, the fact that thousands of lives are lost daily but not mentioned as it should is another disturbing illustration of today's world. But because most of these cases are unreported and ignored it doesn't mean you have to be apathetic to the sad fate of an innocent kid.

Thank you for presenting a more logical point.
I do come off as cold and present my views in such a way, but I do not care for the fate of the kid any less. It's more on the opposite side, as I care for all such people. If I didn't, my point would be hypocritical. If a single case was presented to highlight a bigger issue, that would be one thing, but if they present a single case as the only issue, which the news often does, I find it problematic.
everyone shut up
