We still don't know the full story with Arlong and Jinbei. Jinbei seems to be an honorable guy and Arlong treats humans like dogs.. Jinbei hasn't shown this at all.. maybe that's part of why they split up.
like your sig, what does it mean?

Please tell me that you were joking with this part.
Partially, for the reference.
But we have two full weeks to spare before next chapter, so please let be open to anything to discuss
Great Chapter! I wonder how Croc will get them out of there.. And agree it's quite stupid that Ivankov's Death Wink takes out so many LEVEL 6 prisoners! Would have love to have some epic ones down there, would have been really cool!
Can't wait for next chapter.. Damned Golden Week =D!
Inazuma is just too damned cool. Scissor/Treat shit like paper fruit? Fuck yeah.
People were whining, "Inazuma's fruit is a copycat of Daz Bones!"
Bullshit! This is the imagination of Eiichiro Oda. Never doubt his originality.
Oda failed to please this week.
Any other week it'd be a great chapter. But not coming out of a break and going INTO a break.
Oda's usually pretty cool about giving fans something special before and after breaks but he really didn't deliver here.
YES there were a few neat revelations and while I expected Croc to get out, I never expected him to actually team up with Luffy.
But…
Some reveals of the other 6er's would have been really nice. I'm actually kind of shocked.
It didn't help with the color spread and all being so close to the next mini-arc.
I have a problem with level 6….. Its too boring!
lvl 1: Not too much some gorillas
lvl 2: Monsters
lvl 3: A desert
lvl 4: a burning hell were people is ingredienses!
lvl 5: A huuge freezer with wolfs.
lvl 6: Nothing. HOW COULD THAT BE INTRESSTING?!!

I'm just relieved it isn't 100 times Earth's gravity.
Jarhead,
I was thinking that myself. If anything, Level 6 is the place you'd WANT to go in ID. It would SEEM to be the level most like a normal prison
However…
The individuals stuck down there are probably a danger to each other more than anything else. Plus once you're there, I imagine there's really nothing else. I mean even torture can mentally help prove that you're alive but down there...I mean....you're just THERE...forever.
Plus I imagine we haven't seen everything it has to offer yet.

As I said earlier, I think their special effects budget ran out after levels 4 & 5 ;). But yeah, the 'Infinite/Eternal Hell' seems really boring. I guess they don't really need anything else though, by the time you're imprisoned down there you've already gone through all the torture of the other floors.
And amen to it not being a gravity floor.
If im correct oda should add either make a lvl 7 to make it like Dante's divine comedy with 7 deadly sins in play, so seven levels of hell will make sense cuz where is shinryuu at cuz i doubt he is on lvl 6 even manga says he was there.
Didn't Dante's Inferno have 9 circles?
I'm not a big fan of level 6, but in it's defense it's got a few things going for it.
-Dozens of automated traps. Imagine if they used that sleeping gas on the prisoners.
-It's the bottom floor. In addition to it being "infinite hell," by just being the bottom floor it's the least likely to escape from. I'll bet the prisoners are made well aware of this.
-A demon beast might come along to torture you. Oh, and Shinyuu might just kill you for no reason. Both of those would definitely scare a weaker man (and like the other floors, clearly some of these prisoners can't compare to other strong people we know. It should be surprising that Iva is stronger then a few groups of them).
I think level 6 might end up being more subtle compared to the other hells. If you think about it, it's ultimately the worst one.
If Vivi forgive luffy for relasing crocodile, like how she foragve robin
then she's really a jesus reincarnated…..
I donno, crocodile come-back is really evile to be, he ain't the type to turn good
frankly, this will look bad of luffy's reseme
Oda's usually pretty cool about giving fans something special before and after breaks but he really didn't deliver here.
You know, some might think that Luffy teaming up with Crocodile alone is something very special, leave alone Jinbei tagging alone too.

heres the link cuz its just kinda looks the same as impel down to me.
While I was surprised Croc actually teamed up with him I expected him to get out one way of the other so nothing big there.
As for Jinbei. That was a no-brainer. I wouldn't be surprised if the next chapter was 'The Ninth'.
No seriously though. To me that was a given. I'm sure from the point on it will be one stunning revelation after the other BUT I expected more.
It's still better than puppies and rain and cripples.

Right. Nine levels.
It's clear Oda has borrowed his ideas for ID from a mix of religious takes on judgement in the afterlife but the Buddhist influence seems to be the most prominent. Especially considering the torture AND the torturers are almost identical.

It could have been some soul sucking things or something.
But as many as already said, it's the bottom of hell. And that is nothing to laugh about.
But still, Oda can make Giraffes and transvestits cool ( scissor powers is truelly awesome)but why not the last place of hell? Teletubby forever stuff, Now That would have been more mindflipping!!
While it's nice to see the rest of the crew in the color spreads, I'm really hoping Oda gives us a good Luffy's rescue Ace crew spread in the near future.
Other than that, yeah, nothing special about Level 6 but whatever. I'm ready to get the hell out of ID and check out Marine HQ! Hell yeah!!!
it seems that chances are high we will never see the pirate legends who are in level 6.
Level 6 has no official existence so no need to put "special effects" there ! People that end here are set to be forgot, erased from history.
As for Jinbei. That was a no-brainer. I wouldn't be surprised if the next chapter was 'The Ninth'.
Not next chapter, but one next year. If Jinbei really tries to save Ace by giving his life, he will be a good pretender.
To earlier posts about Rayleigh and mayhem.I think he already suspects that everything will end at Marineford and that's why being responsible for the ship he may already be sailing to the headquaters.Maybe even picking Strawhats up by the way(but I find this overly character favoristic, union must be more hard). And when everything will be deadly and every escape route will be closed Sunny and loling Silvers will appear and save the day.
like going merry in enies lobby

Very interesting, Greg, it could be the prospect of a life or death sentence is hell enough for the criminals not to mention its the worst criminals in history mixing together. Another theory is that since most of the prisoners have public executions, it wouldn't do if the criminals died before the appointed date.
like going merry in enies lobby
Yes yes.You got it.Right that cheesy,corny way.
I've been thinking, why is level 6 the Infinite Hell? It was said that people with a life sentence go there right? Well, isn't everyone in ID serving a life sentence? Oda really should've given level 6 a better name or some kind of theme.
it seems that chances are high we will never see the pirate legends who are in level 6.
I think differently. Shiryu for one is a no-brainer to make an appearance. Perhaps Magellan will offer him a deal like he'll be pardoned if he helps on taking down Luffy & Co. And perhaps the deals won't stop there. After all the concept of prisoners selling out other prisoners for their own benefit is ancient old.
And perhaps this is where guys like Katerina Devon, San Juan Wolf and Busco Shot will got into play. I'm sure that those two giants are actually Wolf and Shot. If not I'm at least 100% sure that they will come into play because Oda made sure to keep their full appearances hidden and I can't see no other reason then suspense for it. That's why I'm positive that we'll see them.

Level 6 doesn't need a "theme" or a name. It's where the criminals the world government don't even want to accept exist are imprisioned, people who have commited crimes that are too heinous to mention, or that the government want to cover up. They're meant to be forgotten.

Yes there is a possibilty if magellan just go down to level 6, release shiryuu, and meet our heroes there. But if in the first panel croc dig a hole to level 5 then chances are high we won't see the level 6 prisoners again.
I mean i can't wait to see them. So far level 6 has been deceiving. I expected more as you know from the past chapters threads where we discussed buggys sentence about level 6.

Have no worries, you will see more of it. There's no way the build up was for just that. After all the real action is supposed to start right now.
On a side note, I think that if Inazuma should turn back into a woman he/she will take on Sadi-Chan as an opponent.
Have no worries, you will see more of it. There's no way the build up was for just that.
Someone forgot the anticlimactic death of the General Zombies…
I also have worries about luffy. In the group now we have Ivan who clearly seems stronger than luffy. Inazuma also seems really strong croc and jimbei.
Luffy in this group seems to go under. Ivan is clearly the one giving orders. I'm not sure if i like it.
Someone forgot the anticlimactic death of the General Zombies…
That was really a good thing. All the general zombies would have done is delay things with tiny pseudobattles. They really weren't important at all meven if their designs were mega-cool.
Someone forgot the anticlimactic death of the General Zombies…
Except for the gunman I didn't expect much from the rest from the getgo. They were Absaloms subordinates to begin with. Clearly not the same league as what awaits here.

You already forgot that this is the rookie that defeated 2 Shichibukai aswell as the strongest fighter in CP9 history, successfully invaded Enies Lobby, punched a Tenryubito right to his face and is right now running loose at Impel Down? I want to see any of the other four guys having an even half impressive list as this.
And Ivankov isn't giving any orders, he's giving the advice. The course of action is still decided by Luffy.
If Ivankov were calling the shots, they wouldn't be going to Marineford at all.
Awesome chapter. Great things are to come in the coming weeks.
Hahaha Crocodile is so being set up for a beatdown at Marineford.
Awesome.
So is the next cover story set to appear in the next chapter?
@LongFist:
So is the next cover story set to appear in the next chapter?
I think no. Next cover is for Vivi or Carue.
it seems that chances are high we will never see the pirate legends who are in level 6.
i don't know how oda will handle them. i doubt he mentioned them for no reason. i still think there will be a huge prison break at some point. after all those prisoners in level 5 still have the keys and who knows what they have been doing for nearly a day. also iva's crew is also going to break out and follow him so they might also break out some other prisoners while they are at it to add to the chaos. we also haven't seen the 500 prisoners that were captured on the shabondy islands. imagine all the level 5 prisoners and some level 6 prisoners escaping together and getting on the marine boats and heading to marineford.
Hahaha Crocodile is so being set up for a beatdown at Marineford.
Awesome.
if he does get beat down i want blackbeard to do it.

Hi, check Stephen's tranlation for the explanation:
"Ivankov: Mhoohoo, of course hyou wouldn't know. It's not a widely-circulated fact.
But it DOES exist… and the WORST are found down there!!
Everyone there is put to death or serving a life sentence!! Level 6, the Infinite Hell.
Excessive torture is used daily on Level 6, but the government keeps all word of THAT mum!!"
That explains Ace's horrible state. However, Oda's messed up pretty badly by not showing any actual signs of that 'excessive torture' going on in Lev.6.
But as somebody already said, Impel Down arc is a general dissapointment as far as the 'hell' theme goes.
And no, I don't think everybody in ID's got a life sentence.

I'd reserve that judgement until we leave that level and know that we never see it again, because with the progress of the story so far there's more important things to be shown then the tortures that wait there.
But as somebody already said, Impel Down arc is a general dissapointment as far as the 'hell' theme goes.
Why? We've already seen what kind of tortures methods are used there. Just because Oda doesn't excessively stretch scenes like Kubo it doesn't mean that the point doesn't come across with a small amount of panels. There's no point of needlesly stretching the story without providing any new information.
..I just realised on page 11 that Inazuma is balancing his/her wine glass on the blades (Actually, looking even closer he's doing it in all of the panels that we see of his scissorhands, balanced on the black side).
I love this guy. He/she's just getting better and better.
@Maes:
I'm just relieved it isn't 100 times Earth's gravity.
lol that would'a been awesome:ninja:
Is it true that spoilers come out early during golden week break?
Awesome chapter. Great things are to come in the coming weeks.
2 weeks is too long =(
… i feel sad already =(
Oda's messed up pretty badly by not showing any actual signs of that 'excessive torture' going on in Lev.6.
Yeah I always figured the Demon Guards were the ones who are essentially in charge of handing out the tortures for level 6.
I mean it does explain why we rarely saw any tortures during the few instances that we got to view level 6 since most of the time Sadi had them with her, or in the case of during Luffy's incapacitation due to Magellan and subsequent healing of them with Ivankov; they were with her looking for Bentham.
Re: 'Impel Down needs more PAIN'
Woah wait.
We know that people are forced to walk on blades, be eaten by monsters, face abuse from guards, routinely suffer poisonings, are starved literally to death, boiled alive, swung over fire pits, frozen to death or eaten by wolves and kept in confinement indefinitely.
Exactly what kind of excessive torture did you have in mind?
Impel Down doesn't make them watch Showgirls on an infinite loop.
It's nothin'
They need a shower hell with a big guy named Bubba with extra slippery soap.
