Has anyone else read Akumetsu? It takes place in Japan's lost decade of the 90's. Shou becomes a terrorist with the motto "one man, one kill' in order to battle political and financial corruption. The social commentary gets pretty deep at points, but it stops short of being preachy. And the kills are bloody but not too gorey. At lot of what makes this manga interesting is wondering what will come of Japan after all of this, how did a high schooler end up with a army of clones, and how long can Shou keep this us.

I love it, it's so cool>< Though I wish I understood more all this political talk, it's interesting but hard to follow:(
-
This is a good damn manga.
ZKAISER'S MANGA STAMP OF APPROVAL.
-
Oh my goodness, what an awesome way to end an arc><
! Driving a car off an unfinished bridge ending in a fiery explosion to kill a construction magnate who leeched money from unfinished bridges, brilliant><
-
I plan to catch up during this summer. This is a cool superhero manga
-
The funny thing about this manga is that it could easily apply to the US today.
-
I am so glad I know just enough about politics to understand this manga. It is in my top 3 favorites, rightly so. It's amazingly bad-ass and sooo well written. I just hope the guy who writes Akumetsu doesn't BERSERK out and start releasing chapters every 3-4 months.
-
apparently the series is already finished in japan. At least that's what i've heard. It just hasn't been translated all the way by the current group handling it.
this series is great. It does get a tad bit preachy… but in the end, it just makes me even more happy to say "fuck yeah" when he gets a scumbag.
pretty funny too.

I don't suppose you could explain all this political stuff to me in arc by arc basis?
-
Just caught up to Vol. 11 and the arcs in 9 to 11 were pretty tense though I had a hard time understanding how the race works in the other guy's fav.
Also! I'm gonna miss the AkuGuruma ;_;
-
Wow, looks like we're finally getting to the bottom of the multiple Shou phenomenon.
-
hells yeah we are! Man, this has been one of the more entertaining series i've been keeping up with lately. Shou is soo cool!
-
Just a quick question, do clones have identical fingerprints?
-
No, they don't.…
-
I gotta bump this thread to declare how intense the last batch of chapters was. Confessions, interrogations, yakuzas and blown off toes!!! Looks like this series is getting set up to deliver an incredible climax.
-
Now I gotta bump this thread to announce that Onemanga has finally uploaded the finale of this wonderful series.
[hide]The final chapters had me actually enraged (to near yelling at my computer monitor)… then pumping my fist in the air cheering! and finally near crying at the end.
The finale was pulled off wonderfully and I was completely satisfied.
I could say more... but anyone who even cares should have either read this or NEED TO GO AND READ IT![/hide]
Shou is so fucking bad ass.
A few steps below Kenshiro and Guts… but that's still saying alot.
fuck yeah Shou!

Sweet. I was waiting for the series to finish so I could read it up all at once. Time to veg out:ninja:

Would I like this series?
(no ecchi please)
-
So the end is here? I will probably begin rereading the whole series to get the stronger impact. It desrves such attention.
Would I like this series?
(no ecchi please)
Only if you find a masked avenger brutally murdering bureaucrats, dying himself and reapearing alive later to murder some more in a glorious quest to reform the political system of Japan at least slightly appealing.
Ecchi - no or minimal. -
Would I like this series?
(no ecchi please)
If you like the concept of a guy with a strong and brutal sense of justice with the means to execute his brand of it, then yea, but it gets a little lengthy/preachy when Akumetsu starts saying why the person he's after has to suffer his justice.
-
Yep, great finale. Brilliant manga
The only thing I didn't like
! Didn't Murase admit in the end that everything was for nothing and that Japan has already turned into another hotbed of concessions like before Akumetsu?
! Oh also, poor Shou and Shina T_T -
It is the complete opposite of ecchi. It is full of win. Great manga, gets weird in the second half, but conclusion is not abrupt as most manga tend to be. The message should be taken only semi-seriously; know the problem, this is one way to solve the problem, not THE way to solve the problem.
-
Big realease this week /that's what she said.
Man, that was awesome.
An't nothin better then goodo'l Akumetsu.
-
So does this series how any reasonable explanation why main charecter is able to always revive his death and injurys?
I honestly stopped reading becasue it felt so silly and random how main guy is able to do all this stuff just because he is practically immortal?
If there is some drawback on constant resurrections and he actually have some exciting reason why he is able to revive then I might be motivated to read further.

Are you so dumb that you need everything handed to you on a plate immediately? Can't you just wait a little and let, you know, the story develop a little?

I simply did not find setup so intresting and I ran out of intrested and motivation.
Sure those corrupt leaders were dicks and it was satisfying to see them blown up but it just felt so stupid also because main hero being immortal without any good reason?
I just felt that Author was able to make this story by giving main charecter ability to revive from death and any injury? I mean sure anyone with such ability can do basically what he wants but it just felt so stupid.
But given good feedback this series had I thought story might become more deep later.

There is an explanation. A good one. With a volume long flash-back. You happy? Author's don't have to explain everything all at once nor should they have to.

Thank you this is all that I needed, I do not care what explanation there is aslong its satisfying and deepens down story and builds up main charecter.
Many give up on One Piece because slow start and then lose possibility to enjoy greatest manga up to date.
Though I never had such problems, I saw little clips of Strawhats during 2004 and was immenesly intrested about it, I loved art and charecters. Naruto never really intrested me before I gave it a try.

Akumetsu is good. Keep freaking reading it. Then make your judgements later
-
Just starting reading this since it was made by the mangaka that does Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest. And that manga is crazy. I'm up to chapter 30 and Shou is a badass.
-
Finished it - awesome thing. Could be my favourite finished manga up to now.
There just one part I don't understand:
[hide]Where does Akumetsu gets all the money from? He gets Weapons, tuned cars, jet-packs, those giant TV-hijack-signalstuff, that all should cost preeeeety much money, right?[/hide]And Shandian: its stupid to want a explanaiting everytime somehting uncommon happens. Why do you like One Piece:wassat: there also int everything explained a soon as it happens. Did you seriosly believe Akumetsu would be popular if there hadn't been a good reasoning for this?
-
I read 30 chapters it is awesome…

! Akumetsu had many jobs the shou's took up such as cameraman, stuntman, etc. all over japan. That's where the money came from. Plus, they inherited money from their deceased friend I think plus supplies that was already in the plant.
Awesome manga. Loved the ending. Still sad about what happened though, yet very happy.
-
Just finished it. Enjoyed the hell out if it.

Thanks for mentioning that tidbit, gonna get that manga later on =D
Just finished reading the series minutes ago, and the ending was very good indeed.
I wonder if it'll ever adapted into anime? …but even then it would, IMO, need a big or rather good budget...
