Okay, I know that's not what you meant. I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Animaniacs was surprisingly educational; not only did it give us 'Nations of the World', but also 'Parts of the Brain', 'The English Language', 'The Universe Song', "The Multiplication Song", "50 State Capitols", and "US Presidents". (All under the spoiler tag, BTW)
And they gave us some culture too; they spoofed Shakespearean plays like "Hamlet" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and Wakkorotti burped several classic songs from history…Damn, this list is bigger than I thought it'd be.

I used to watch Histeria!
while it was a humoruous and a bit gross at times.. It actually taught history since each episode had to do with either multiple subjects( Great leaders) or one subject -
can someone say afterschool specials. ^^
(and someone post me a "sailor moon says", I'm at work right now, can't do it here)

The problem with educational programs is that too many of them got really ham-fisted.

I would love to flood this thread with the "AIDS AWARENESS" adverts inside comics during the 90s, however, that's comics and I don't feel like scanning them (even though they are REALLY funny).
You could always sub a Captain Planet AIDS episode in it's place, though

zfgTAlGDc84[EDIT: Re-watched the Captain Planet episode and it had me thinking: Why does Tom (who is in only 1 episode) have the best V.A. in the whole show? How come he's the only character without a stupid accent (coach doesn't count)? Also, there was another episode that dealt with HIV as well. This episode would actually have been pretty good if all of the Captain Planet elements were missing (no planeteers, no capt. planet, no sappy ending that had characters pulling a 180 in 2 seconds). And the coach…he made me think that he would be John Stewart if they made a late 80s Green Lantern cartoon (looks like him and would probably have a similar voice]

I sure hope people aren't still using this vid, a few of those aren't countries to begin with, but uh…the whole being made in the early 90's thing kinds means that Yugoslavia has since burst into like 7 different countries.

"Once upon a time…" series was pretty neat. It's French and I have no idea if it has been translated to English.

Although if you are bothered by things not being super accurate or perhaps little outdated then I wouldn't watch it . But it was a cool way to learn about history, science and biology.

Well, you can't blame it for being outdated. Yes, there are some errors (England is technically called the U.K., and Transylvania isn't a country), but I think they did pretty good considering. I'd say it's 90 to 95% accurate, excluding the outdated material. And it's a damn catchy tune.

England is a part of the UK, with Scotland, Wales and North Ireland.

I know that. They called it England in the song. What I'm saying is that, technically, they should have called it the U.K.
-
Yeah and Borneo is three countries on one island too.
Brunei, half of Malaysia, and a bunch of Indonesia. -

What I found funny was that after the song they joked about how Yakko missed TWO countries, The Ivory Coast and South Africa.

Superior Method: Take an ice pack or some ice wrapped paper towel and press it to the back of your neck for a few minutes. Trust me, I know.

They later had an episode featuring the Please, Please, Pleeeaasee Get a Life Foundation in response to people pointing out mistakes in Wakko's World on Usenet.
For one thing, Hong Kong, Tibet, and Puerto Rico aren't countries. Nor is Asia.
