Tokyo was founded by the Javanese empire in 313 BCE, by the woman general Fu Hao.
Tokyo later became the capitol of the Yuan Dynasty of the Timurid Empire and was where King Timurlane waged his war against the Seljuq Turk Sultunate from.
The Seljuq's conquered it in 1245 but Timurlane was able to regroup his forces in Hokkaido and drive the Turks back to their kingdom in the Horn of Africa.
Tokyo finally became japanese in the 1700's when King Louis XIV of France helped the native japanese to defeat their Yuan overlords in the battle of Yogawa where King Louis lost his life on the edge of a bamboo spear.
The Tokugawa Shogunate took over from this period on using Tokyo as it's base until the Oniwabanshu overthrew them in the 1800's and moved the capitol to Osaka.
Tokyo was razed to the ground by Stalin in World War 2 after the atomic bombings by America.
Today Tokyo is a festering shithole of poverty and disease that the rest of modern Japan hopes to demolish sometime soon.

Shame on you Deltron…...You forgot the whole Godzilla versus Hannibal fight on top of the Alps...The victory was an important part of history and made Japan a force to be reckoned with! I'm disappointed you did not mention it...;)

What exactly do you need this essay for? If it's for a friend who flies to Japan, it's a great idea to tell him all about the lifestyle!
But if it's for a teacher it's not that great to focus too much on the whole amusement aspect I guess…
If you have to present it in front of the class it would be really intresting, thoughSome fun facts for you:
when you are a guest in a Japanese house, it's polite to bring a present
BUT you have to be FUCKING careful what you give them
white flowers are a taboo (white= death)
Four parts of something are taboo (the japanese pronounciation of the number four sounds like "death")
Something with the pictue of a foxxy is a NO-GO ( probably because of the whole "Kitsune" stories, that animal is a traitor...)
Yellow is taboo (yellow is a symbol for treachery or something...)And you have to wrap your gift up really nicely, it's as important as the present itself!
And when you eat rice NEVER EVER STICK YOUR CHOPSTICKS INTO THE BOWL WHEN YOU'RE DONE EATING! (Again, this means death. it's a ritual to bring a bowl of rice to the shrine of late family members and to the thing with the chopsticks)
But the most important fun-fact is:
When you're a "Gaijin", people expect you to do it all wrong and Fail to begin with, so don't worry...l -

Imagine that… people get angry when you call them something they're not. :getlost:
Also, I can't help but imagine you saying your entire post in a single breath, and in that infernal SoCal accent, which ends every sentence with a question mark. Do they still teach punctuation in school?

This thread is reaching new heights! ^_^
But seriously. SILLS_HEAT, you need to consider three specific subjects. Set up an introduction, three subject paragraphs, and a conclusion. And also, don't be afraid to bullshit. Take from someone who loves writing essays. Bullshitting is your friend!

all other asians look down on the chinese.
A former roomate told me a funny story once. Him and his friends went to a Thai restaurant after being at the bar, and he was pretty drunk. As they were leaving, he drunkenly shouted out to the Thai people, "thank you chinese!" And his friends frantically dragged him out of there. lol

all other asians look down on the chinese.
All other east Asian people got most of their culture and language from the chinese.
It's the japanese who are really unpopular in east asia, because of WW2.

Your welcome man, good luck on the paper.

What did you have to write it for? I can't imagine any situation in which you would be forced to write about Tokyo unless you didn't want to yourself. Besides, wouldn't you need sources? Would your paper say something like this:
when you are a guest in a Japanese house, it's polite to bring a present [tigerlilly, post 4]
Bibliography:
Tigerlilly. "Help! Writing a paper on Tokyo!!" Post 4.
2009. Arlong Park Forums. 8 April 2009
I'm sure that would work…
It'd probably be better if you chose something that you knew a little about before writing so that researching would be easier.

he's not asking for us to write it for him, he's just asking for a place to start, since tokyo is such a broad topic. only a moron would do something like that.
