Unless it's a graphical masterpiece, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot by not bringing it to the wii as well.

I was thinking the trailer was much more of a 'you create the bosses and powers Megaman must defeat/obtain', and the stages.
So hence, a LittleBigPlanet for Megaman style gameplay.
I KIND OF hope I'm wrong, and instead it's something badass like Megaman jumping from Capcom game to Capcom game (and maybe cross company) and obtaining amazing abilities.

If this ends up being some kind of custom level fest I hope it's as customizable as LBP otherwise I doubt it'll have the same life span. It'd be really cool to make your own robot masters.

Somehow, I'm envisioning this akin to the Super Mario Bros. Crossover flash game, where you can play through Mega Man levels as Maximo, Ryu, or other Capcom characters.
And that would be awesome.

To sum up:
-The goal of the game is to unite different players of Megaman into one game. The game will include different varieties of Megaman, possibly including Megaman Classic, Megaman X, Megaman Volnutt, or Megaman EXE.
-A Megaman that is 100% confirmed is the lame game cartrige Megaman (the blue and yellow Megaman from the end of the previously given trailer).
-Characters from outside Megaman mythos will be playable. Such is why Ryu and Arthur were shown.
-The game will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN.

I can't help but agree here, even if I have all three systems.
There's no complex online play, so nothing should really prevent it from being the Wii Ware.
If it's graphics heavy, that'd probably do it. Wii wasn't able to have as many zombies in Dead Rising as the 360 version.

Capcom has been stupid for a long while now, but with them resurrecting so many of their old franchises lately, I have high hopes it will finally happen. Then again, I think Capcom believes the franchise just can't do well. I mean, the PSP ports of MML 1&2 didn't see release outside of Japan cause they sold so poorly there.

Well it really depends. They'd have to work on a different variation for the Wii, similar to how Sega did for Sonic Unleashed. That's a lot of work. Not to mention, Nintendo's DLC service is a pain in the ass to deal with, according to other developers.

Source codes can easily be lost. It's why a lot of classics don't get ported and sometimes have to be remade from the ground up. It's why we haven't seen, and never will see, a port of Panzer Dragoon Saga. A lot of games during the 32-bit era seemed to have gotten lost over time.
As for the PSP ports, I believe it also has to do with the fact that PSP games just don't sell too well outside of Japan to begin with, as mostly everyone's pirating their PSP games or just using the PSP for emulation purposes for other platforms.

Nope, it's region-free unless it's a movie. Otherwise, you can pop in a Japanese game into a US PSP.

As far as why the game isn’t available on the Wii, since it is a downloadable title they could not fit the game within the file size limitations allowed on the WiiWare service. He said that they would like to be able to support Wii, but couldn’t make it work at this time.

Only worrying thing is, the influence for this game was pretty much all Inafune, and its cancellation is almost certainly in some part due to his departure. So I'm quite worried about the status of Legends 3, which was even more an Inafune pet project.

Mega Man is still very much an icon of CAPCOM just like Street Fighter and Bionic Commando. But I don't think it's fair to say that just because Universe was canned means that nobody cares about Mega Man anymore.
