Just beat the japanese version of this game. I'm satisfied. It was a great game, all in all. One of my roommates is getting the US one Wednesday, so I'll prolly beat it all over again. Mainly so I can beat Sephiroth this time…

First commenting on differences between the US and Japanese versions of Kingdom Hearts II, Nomura revealed that the two versions are pretty close overall. Due to rating concerns, Square Enix had to make some changes to the Pirates of the Caribbean world. For instance, enemy weapons that resembled guns had to undergo design changes.

More Kingdom Hearts on the way
Tetsuya Nomura confirms he already has new ideas for the next installment; more games from series producer to be unveiled at E3 and TGS.
Though Kingdom Hearts II has just about wrapped up its journey onto North American shelves, it won't be the end of the action role-playing series. A day after Square Enix held its Kingdom Hearts II launch party in Los Angeles, producer Tetsuya Nomura took some time to talk about the future of the franchise with Famitsu.com. There, he revealed that he already has some new ideas for the series.Nomura is thinking of a new installation that won't be a numbered sequel or something that takes place between two games the way that Chain of Memories (Game Boy Advance) did. If fans of the series find that a bit confusing, they have nothing to worry about, because they're not alone.
"It's difficult to explain it. I'm thinking about how to talk about it [without giving things away], which means that there will be some twists to it. Up until now, the series followed along a [straight] time line, going from Kingdom Hearts to Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. But the idea I have right now doesn't follow that flow," Nomura told Famitsu.com. "However, as long as it inherits the Kingdom Hearts title, it needs to have some connection [to previous installments] in terms of storyline, so it won't be too distant from the other titles. In any case, this is still at a conceptual phase, where I'm thinking about what I want to do."
Famitsu.com also asked Nomura whether the next installment's story will take place after the ending in Kingdom Hearts II. However, Nomura only smiled, neither confirming nor denying it.
Nomura is currently at work on multiple titles, and he revealed that there will be more announcements at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo and Tokyo Game Show. Square Enix is planning a big event for the E3 announcement in particular, and the company will be holding a surprise ceremony during the expo.
Kingdom Hearts, rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older, is scheduled to be available in stores tomorrow for $49.99 on the PlayStation 2. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage or come back later this week for a full review.

From reading that it sounds like its gonna go in the direction of the Final Fantasy series and instead of following the fixed characters "Sora, Donald, Goofy" it will introduce new characters where they wont even exist or you'll simply hear about them.
I really hope this doesn't happen….

All told, that doesn't really marr my expectations of the game. I played the original, loved it, and now I've got the second on reserve for tomorrow. What's important is that they came out and said it, and so I won't be surprised.

Disney is no were near as bad as 4kids. If that were true, every single Miyazaki film would be edited to shit. Disney owns the rights to everything in KH except the FF characters, it's there's to do with as they please.

Meh, there were only a few minor changes and edits. It's not really worth it to get all bent out of shape over. At least Disney didn't go overboard and let it get out of hand like 4Kids. I guess it won't change how I think about the game having never played the Japanese version. And the fact that I've never seen Pirates of the Carribean, and I've been really looking forward to it. Yosh, less than a day!

Christy says that slightly edited guns are fine. Most of the time, aside from maybe a cinematic or two, people will probably not even notice it. Disney is good at being subtle about a few edits. It hasn't been racist and changed all the black peoples' colors and it hasn't removed any form of violence and they haven't changed Sora's name to "Sola" so we're ALL fine.
Although, back in the old days, with Beauty and the Beast, Gaston stabs the beast and OMG there's BLOOD. What Christy wouldn't do for everyone to be able to not go insane over an ounce of red goo on a person's cloak. Everything is "OMG Violence we're all DOOM-ED!"

Yeah, I'm surprised with how censorship has changed over the years, especially in cartoons. Looking back at an episode of Tom & Jerry that was done it….....let's say the 30's, I'm probably thinking "Wow, they could get away with almost anything back then!". Yes, I know it's not Disney, but censorship in general is alot stricter and anal now.

Sora and Riku were good I thought, Cloud was fine as was sephiroth even though he was Lance Bass. I didn't like the little Tidus, Wakka and Selphi but other than that, everyone was fine. They better not fuck with Yuffie ;_;

The original game had some good voice performances, yeah. My favorites were probably the main characters, but Donald and Goofy also gave EXCELLENT performances to my ears. I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed this time around, either.

For the hell of it, I went to gamestop.com 2 minutes before midnight and watched the clock count down. At 12 it simply dissappeared and said "Now Available". Awwww. Where were the fireworks and dancing puppies and stuff?
